Best product to reduce scars?
Rongen62 replied to Blondie638's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use pure Emu oil. I have used it for years and it works. My daughter had a bad scrape on her face and the surgeon was waiting for it to heal so that he could do some lazer surgery on it. I used the Emu oil on it until we went back. It healed so well that he did not have to do anything and now recommends it to all of his patients. -
My stomach looks bloated from below my breast all the way down. It is bigger than it was before the surgery. I did not have a lot of weight in the stomach area before. It seems like it is more swelling than anything. I am just wondering if this is still some swelling from the surgery. I will ask my doctor when I go back next week but, since I am not in any pain, I am not going to call him just to ask something like that. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same thing. I was just curious!

I am going through the same thing right now. I had my first fill a few weeks ago and I only have some restriction first thing in the morning. After that, I feel like I can eat everything in sight. I am struggling to eat the way I am supposed to. I go for another fill Feb. 29th. really hoping I can tell some difference then.

That is my reward when I reach the 60 pound mark, I want a new pair of cowboy boots! Good for you!

My biggest scar is raised and hard and painful
Rongen62 replied to Giovy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Get it checked. Mine did the same thing about five weeks out. It was healing nicely and then started getting hard around the scar and really red. I had been using antibiotic ointment and washing with disinfectant soap too. They started me on antibiotics and it cleared up. It is best to get a handle on it early. -
What is OH?

Six weeks after my surgery my port incision became infected. I have been on antibiotics for two weeks and the infection is gone and I was able to get my first fill today! My doctor numbs the area and it did not hurt at all! I was able to drink a bottle of water before I left and of course I am on liquids until tomorrow. So excited and ready for this next stage of my lapband journey!

I got my first fill today. I have a 10cc band and got 3cc's today. My doctor makes you drink a bottle of water before you can leave. If you have problems he will take some out at that time. I was able to drink the whole bottle but, I did have to sip it and not guzzle it. He told me to stay on liquids the rest of the day and I could go back to food tomorrow. I am kind of nervous about that. I may just eat soft food tomorrow like yogurt, cottage cheese or eggs.

My incision became really inflamed and was oozing a little bit. I was so scared they were going to have to take the port out and then put it back in later. Thankfully it looks like the meds worked!

Yea, that kind of makes me not want to eat anything either.....which could be a good thing! LOL -

I know this is probably a stupid question but, what do you mean by slimed? I am new to this and don't fully understand some of the terms used. -
Mine is on the left side about three inches from my belly button and about 2 inches above where the belly button is. Does that make sense? LOL

Infection with my port..
Rongen62 replied to lozjacko's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started getting some irritation in my port incision around five weeks after my surgery. It seemed to clear up after a couple of days but then a week later it started again. They started my on antibiotics last Monday and it is looking better. I have an appointment this week with my surgeon. It is supposed to be for my first fill. Hopefully this is clearing up....if not, I will do whatever i have to do. I have worked to hard and will not give up over a setback like this! -
Infected stitch/5 weeks out
Rongen62 replied to JerseyShoreDisneyDiva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How long were you out of work when they removed the port? I am so scared that i am going to have to have it removed. She said that if they did, it would stay our for 3 months and then go back a replace it. I haven't told anyone at work that I had the surgery. Not sure how I would explain having 2 more surgeries! -

I had the same thing at five weeks. I stated putting the neosporin on and it looked like it was better and then a week later is started oozing again. They are calling in some atibiotics for me today. I sure hope this works. I am so worried about having to have more surgery! -
I take the flintstones vitamins as well. I also use the chewable calcium.

November bandsters Unite
Rongen62 replied to lovely29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Was banded on Nov. 26th. I have lost a total of 26 lbs and now I have stalled and nothing is happening. My first fill is schedule for Jan. 16th. I was thinking about doing the protein shake/liquid thing for the next couple of days just to see if it will jump start the weight loss again. -
I had my surgery on Nov. 26th so I am almost five weeks post op. I have been doing great with no problems until today. I woke up and noticed my port site incision was a little tender and as the day has gone on, it has become red and more tender. I noticed that when I pressed on it, there was just a tiny bit of discharge. It did not look like pus but, it was a darkish milky red. Is it possible for infection to set in at this late date or could it be from over doing it? I will call my doctors office on Monday since they are closed now. Do you think this is something that I need to have checked out before then or is this normal?

How long have you had the band?
Rongen62 replied to wozzicat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on Nov. 26th. It will be 4 weeks tomorrow! I have lost 26 lbs. My weight loss is at a stand still right now. I know once I start getting fills, it will kick back in. Right now, I am using this time to learn that my eyes are bigger than my stomach. I am also learning to chew, chew, chew! I feel great and my surgery and healing went relatively easy! I am excited about the coming year. I KNOW this was the right thing for me. I have had a peace about it! -
I have only told one coworker. The rest including my boss have not been told. I used vacation time to have my surgery and what I do on vacation is my business. I don't need negativity right now so I have only told a few people. I only want support right now. I haven't decided about telling anyone on down the road. We will see.

Tomorrow will be two weeks post surgery for me. I am having a hard time getting my protein in as well. I have been drinking a protein shake for breakfast and then trying to eat lunch and dinner. I am starting to feel hungry between meals. I am thinking maybe I need to add a shake or two between meals to get the protein in and maybe keep the hunger at bay. What do you guys think?
-
I was banded on Nov. 26th. I do get hungry and I think this IS what they refer to as bandster Hell! I think it makes it worse that it is the holiday season and there is food everywhere! I don't go back until January and I know that I am going to have to rely on myself for restraint. After almost three weeks of liquids and then just mushy food, it is really hard not to eat everything in sight. I have worked to hard to get where I am and I don't want to mess up now. Congratulations on your surgery! will be thinking of you!

Feels Like A Big Bubble In My Chest
Rongen62 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on Nov. 26th and also had a hiatal hernia repair. I am able to drink and eat jello with no problem but, I feel like I have a huge gas bubble or something. It doesn't hurt but, it is uncomfortable. I don't know if it is normal with lapband or if it is from the hernia repair. I have been walking, taking gas x etc. but, it is not moving. Is this normal and do you have any other suggestions? -
Feels Like A Big Bubble In My Chest
Rongen62 replied to Rongen62's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for the replies! I felt like it might be the trapped gas from the surgery but, wanted to see if anyone else had the same problem. -
I was banded on Monday too! I am having the same problem. I feel like I everything is in my throat and feel like I just need to burp. I have walked and walked and walked! I guess this is normal though!
