    Mental Limits...

Thats awesome!!! And yeah, I totally understand wanting to share...
  3. Does anyone else find themselves hesitant at participating in activities that they would have found exhausting or possibly awkward prior to losing a pretty good chunk of weight??? I took my daughter to the Water park yesterday, which is nothing new, however she asked me, no, BEGGED me to ride the 'lazy river' with her...I hesitated, and actually told her 'no'..because prior to losing the 43 lbs that I have since surgery, the simple act of walking across the park to that area would have exhausted me... Well, I took a minute to observe what this would entail, the floats, the other ppl that were over there, and I thought, oh, I got this!!! So I told her yes...we went over, and had the BEST time!! I just have to remember that the limitations that once kept me at bay don't exist anymore...gotta get outta my head

    Port Site Very Sore

def need some antibiotics on board...I would try to get in touch w/answering service...do u have leftover nonexpired antibiotics at home?? you need to start something as soon as possible...
  10. I understand your concerns...I also have issues getting enough calories in...I just make sure to get my 70 grams of protein in, and take my vitamins...then eat 3 meals a day, tho a 'meal' could consist of a cup of yogurt or just a piece of fish, sometimes a protein shake...depending on the day...

    What Just Happened?

coulda been stuck and sliming, also could have been dumping syndrome (which I ignorantly thought wasn't really going to be an issue w/the band)...caused from eating simple carbs...you have a sudden drop in blood sugar...causing the flushing/sweats...crazy stuff...just takes getting to know your body all over again...
  12. Welcome to the club!! LOL...I find I have 'tight days' too, and tend to eat very light a couple of days after (smoothies, yogurt, protein shakes)...chicken has never given me a problem...I don't do well with any red meat, and ground anything is a no go these days...

    Hernia

I was banded May 9, 2012..the pain didn't go away fully until right at 14 days postop...the left shoulder pain, chest pain, back pain..it was miserable...just wearing a bra killed me...I stayed on schedule with my pain meds, and took it easy...don't overdo it...allow yourself to heal...it does get better!!!! I have felt great ever since!!

    Emotional Regret

Just what I needed to hear today, rather uncanny actually...I'm almost 2 months postop, an have come off of the high of the weightloss. I have recently started feeling a sense of loss, and it hit me last night that it's the lack of being able to comfort myself in the same manner that I have allll these years...with food...it is a process, and I don't regret it at all...I realize it was very unhealthy for me, and I have to grow from this...glad to have you all as an added support system )
  22. I would think 11% of gb patients is a low number, people do tend to swap addictions, also the protein and vitamin deficiencies associated with that surgery can lead to serious depression...I haven' heard anything like this associated with the lapband, howeved, one has to look at compliance, and support systems, complications, and overall coping mechanisms starting out...not sure these people wouldn't have ended up with drinking problems regardless..

    Banded On June 25Th

Yes, protein is mandantory for wound healing, I would think since your drinking, you should be aiming for at least 70 gm a day...
  24. Everyone is different..this isn't a race...sounds like you're doing great!! Good luck on continued success!!
  25. i was on solids after 2 weeks of mushies postop...just depends on the doc...sounds good to me
