FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
trujiyi replied to DivaNurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ok, I'm 7 months post up, down 62 lbs. Lately I have noticed the overwhelming stomach gurgles. It's almost embarrassing because my stomach gurgles while I am eating. Any idea why this is happening and how I can contain it. -
I am losing a lot of hair as well and was told to take Biotin 10,000 mcg.. I am trying not to stress about the hair loss but it's difficult sometimes.

3 weeks out and having abdominal pain
trujiyi posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 2/14 and have felt fine for the most part. Yesterday I spent too much time without eating so was starving. I picked up food for my kids and ordered a veggie burger for myself. I had about a third and could not eat anymore. Shortly after finishing I was dry heaving. This morning I woke up and felt awful. I have a bloated type abdominal pain. I am bet uncomfortable and eventhough I feel slightly hungry, I don't really want to eat. Anyone feel this and if so, what did you do or take for it. -
Hellllpppppp... I have a date Saturday!
trujiyi posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok fellow sleevers so this coming Saturday I have a date. He does not know I had WLS, he thinks I had a cyst removed from my ovary (yes, I know but I didn't want to tell him before met him). Here is my dilemma: I was sleeved on Feb 14th so I start purées tomorrow. Obviously first date screams dinner and drinks and I can have neither. How do I manage? What can I have? He mentioned going to Cheesecake Factory, I can probably have a Soup but what do I do about the drinking part? juice? Plain Water?.., please offer advice... Thanks -

FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
trujiyi replied to DivaNurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, I am on Lovenox and you are right the medicine burns. I notice that it hurts on some parts of the stomach more than others. You definitely want to do these because they avoid blood clots and you want a smooth recovery. -

So I was sleeved on February 14th. The first day I didn't feel awful but the next day I cried. I had horrible gas pains, the nausea was constant and I was have a huge bout of buyers remorse. Today (4 days post op) I am feeling slightly better. My gas is moving and finally coming out and I am in taking a little more. I would love to hear from those that are further along so they can tell me how they feel. Will I ever be normal? Will I be able to go to a social function and indulge in a glass of wine? Will I be able to eat a least half a burger at a BBQ or is red meat a no no. Come on people let me know that I have made a good decision..

Thank you all for your encouraging words, I can't wait until I can for the first time in m life wear single digit clothes.. Lol.. I am staying positive and looking forward to all the great rewards.

So I have been on this forum snce I started my sleeve approval journal and must admit have become obsessed since I got my date. I was sleeved yesterday and am happy to report that it has not bad as I thought. My main complaint is discomfort due to the bloating. This is caused by the air pumped inside to perform surgery. I was told that on the first day I would be passing a lot of gas and I have not even burped once. That discomfort is awful. Other than that, I feel great. My surgery was at noon and I woke up in recovery at 3pm. I was in and out of sleep until about 8:30pm. At 10:30 I was given a sponge bath and then was taken for a walk. Now I am awake because of the discomfort coupled with the fact that I am sleeping on my back. Anybody else having these same issues.

Anybody have second thoughts 4 days before surgery
trujiyi posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hellllp, I am 4 days away and am having second thoughts. I'm scared.. What if I can never go to a function and enjoy myself? What if I can never eat any of my favorite food (even if it's a tiny portion) ever again? What if I get malnourished due to the lack of caloric intake? Has anyone felt this? How did you talk yourself through it? -
Hey guys, I am currently on the Pre-op diet part of my journey. It is a very difficult task but I have to this. My surgery is on the 14th so I am wondering how this will go for the next 11 days. Today I made a hearty chicken soup with celery, potatoes and carrots I put it in the blender and had a small bowl. Is this ok? Not sure if I'm only supposed to have broth. Please let me know if I overstepped my liquid diet boundary, God I hope not cause that soup was Deeeelish

I am on day 4 of liquid diet and it is tough cause of course all weekend I have been surrounded by food. I have managed to stay away but it has been so tough. I am having soup, protein shakes and jello. I am also allowed sf pudding and watery oatmeal. I have 10 more days to go.. I know I can, I know I can
-
It says I can have cream of chicken, sf jello, protein shakes and strained oatmeal... God my soup is really yummy and the tiny bowl I had filled me
-
I hear ya, I'm on Pre op liquids until my surgery which is on the 14th.. It is tough, especially on the weekends when my kids get invited to stuff. Plus I have not told anyone about the surgery so I have to make up all sorts if stories as to why I can't eat.. I'm sure it will be all worth it.

Are you only have protein shakes? My surgery is scheduled for Feb 14 and I start my liquids on the 1st. My Dr's office sent me the diet and it has Chichen soup, strained but at least the liquid. My fear is doing the liquids for so many days and the boredom. -
New to the whole process, Aetna, What can I expect?
trujiyi replied to tonid2328's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have Aetna as well and I had to prove that I was on a medically supervised diet for 6 months for within the last 2 years (which I had been cause my PCP had prescribed adipex for weight loss). I also had to do 3 months with a nutritionist, a psych evaluation and meet with an exercise physiologist. I did all of the above requirements (I have been in the process since July) and had my file submitted. The insurance company came back and asked if I had taken a sleep apnea test, which I hadn't, and was told I had 2 weeks to get it done or my file would be closed. I scurried to get an appointment at a sleep center only to find out that I had to pay $1,700 out of pocket to get it done (deductible + 20% out of pocket cost). I was completely discouraged and told the surgical coordinator to forget it. She said that she would call and see if they could put the file through without the test. They did and the next day I got a call that I had been approved... Woooo hoooo... Surgery is scheduled for Feb 14. Go through the process and make sure you do all the steps. After that leave it in God's hands. -
Received a letter from my insurance company! Yippy....
trujiyi replied to "MekaOnAMission"'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Call your doctor's office. I was required to take a sleep apnea test but since we are only in January I had to meet my deductible and pay 20% out of pocket ( $1,700). I spoke to the bariatric coordinator and told her to forget it (after 6 long months and various appointments). Instead of letting the file be closed we agreed to put it through without the test. Low and behold, I got a call the next day saying I was approved. I scheduled my surgery for February 14. So definitely call your doctor's office. At this point I feel many of them have a rapport with the insurance companies.
