    waiting for insurance approval

My employer and benefits people reviewed the lap band requirements for our health insurance and decided that 120% greater than your ideal body weight was not a reasonable requirement for lap band and they got it revised. The requirement is that the BMI has to be 40 to qualify. SO.....I finally got to go see the surgeon. I had already had the sleep study (sleep disorder diagnosed); EGD (GERD diagnosed); and documentation of my high blood pressure and orthopedic problems. This past Monday I had my liver ultrasound, and have gone through the required nutrition class and I also got all the blood work required (which shows my A1C as 6.6 and fasting glucose as 125, so am now considered prediabetic-type II ....which will help the cause as well!). I have to have my psych appointment and after that, my file will be reviewed by my insurance for approval (hopefully!). I had my left ankle "reconstructed" today in surgery so that hopefully will soon be able to start walking for exercise. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I'm hoping for the surgery either in September or early October. I am looking forward to keeping up with everyone's progress, ups and downs during this journey.:whoo:
  3. I am hopefully going to be approved for the lap band soon. I meet the NHI requirements, plus I have some of the co-morborbidities. Unfortunately, my insurance doesn't consider co-morborbidities, they go strictly by weight. According to them, I need to be 270 pounds (5'4) and right now I'm 225. But, I have newly diagnosed high blood pressure, asthma, sleep apnea, orthopedic issues, but they won't consider them. However, my HR director informed me that they are going to be revising their guidelines for the lap band (which were equalled to gastric bypass)..dumb! Right now, I'm trying (AGAIN) weight watchers and I've just started Alli. I am too young (43) to have this much trouble. I also have a 2 year old granddaughter plus a beautiful 14 year old daughter and I want to be able to play with the grandbaby without problems.I also want my daughters (21, 14) to be proud of me:o Vicki

    I am new!!

This is my first posting. I went to a lecture about 1 1/2 yrs ago,but didn't proceed. But now, I am 30 pounds heavier regardless of the fact that I have been exercising as well as taking diet pills.Nothing has worked. Hopefully, I will be a candidate for surgery, as now I have high blood pressure and asthma as well as stress fractures of my left foot evertime I try any real aerobic exercise. Please pray for me and keep your fingers crossed!
