  1. I was banded July 5th and the worst part for me has been the fear. Like many have posted I thought "what have I done?" I had a foreign body inserted into my abdomen, how crazy is that. But since I no longer lose weight on my own I knew I had to give it a shot if I wanted to be healthy. I had a 'pain ball" implant to numb the surgical area, but It ran out today. I do have pain meds and I am going to take them before the pain gets worse. I walk around a lot, even going up stairs and I know that this helped with the gas. I have to be careful not to overdue since I just moved to this house and there are boxes everywhere waiting to be unpacked. The pain always passes so hang in the game. Good luck
  2. I'm on the second day and doing well. I love the pain meds and the ball. I walked a lot and used the nasty spirometer every 20 minutes while I was awake which was all day. This afternoon I have to go in for a wound check. My Dr. seems very thorough, I had a swallow test before I left and they patched me for nausea with scopolamine. Regards

  4. I was banded this morning and I have a little bit of fullness in the back of my throat. It does feel ooky, but I thing it might be drainage from my sinuses. Good luck Regards
  5. I was banded this morning and I have a pain "ball" which delivers a small amount of some kind of numbing agent. No real pain yet, I can walk around and I feel ok. I have gas but I haven't started burping yet (or the other thing  ) I have to use a spirometer every 20 minutes to keep my lungs clear and that is quite annoying, but I want to live so I'll use the device. My fear is that tomorrow the pain will start and look out household members. Still a little scared and I have to go back to the doctor's tomorrow so they can look at the incisions. I need to set up my ticker too! Regards
  6. I was totally shocked I passed mine. It is great that you will just require some more visits, but still get banded. I'm am so glad you were able to get a good diag on the bipolar. It sucks when doctors won't listen. Good Luck!!!
  7. Really just chew the nicotine gum instead. You will still get the nico fix and no one needs to know. I quit smoking cold turkey and frankly it drove me near insanity. The gum makes quitting so much more doable!
  8. I'm so sorry. The school issue is truly horrible, but contact some places for grants for teachers. State Farm does some and I know there are others. If you are close to getting your degree you might be able to cobble together enough grant money to finish. I hope you can get the surgery you need as well.

    Pre Op Hell

I'm supposed to drink two protein shakes and 1 cup of soup a day. I am starving! Second day and I have been eating some sugar free/fat free pudding and I ate a pickle and two olives. I am going to call the clinic because the protein shakes and soup only add up to about 700 calories. I feel like it should be more.
  10. I am new to this site and just started my pre-op diet today. I am already tired and experiencing withdrawal from my beloved sugar/fat regime. just want to sleep, maybe I can sleep for two weeks! I am lucky that I teach and therefore I am not working during this time. I am concerned about turning into a cranky butt!
