Wtloss replied to Jean McMillan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Great reading. Thank you? This isn't the easy way out -
All will go well Jen. Enjoy and relax today. Then rest when you get home, except for your walking. I started in the house and progressed to the yard and now I am walking 2 miles daily. My surgery was 6/25/12. I will be thinking of you tomorrow. Let us know how it goes

After 1 Month Of Liquids...today I Had Food!!!!! :)
Wtloss replied to sylviau's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awesome Slyvia. Glad you are on to soft foods. It was easier to just have a protein shake, no planning etc., but progressing to food is great. I was hungry on liquids, now I get the full feeling -

When Does Gas Pain Subside?
Wtloss replied to knitmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Daneesy and walking....walking.....walking! It really helps. Your discomfort is temporary. Each day will be better. -
2012 are you sure they didn't tell you not to drink 30 minutes before or after your meal? And don't drink with your meal. I was told this plus to get in 64 oz water.

Ideas For Food On Long Flight.
Wtloss replied to lassie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can buy yogurt at the airport. If you take string cheese it can't stay out longer than two hours. Take an insulate lunch bag. Also the protein powder. GNC sells a nice small bottle for mixing your protein. I like hummus you can get the small single sizes to take with you or purchase on the plane. Roll up lunch meat with cheese inside. Safe travels -
Those Recently Banded: Whats Ur First Short Term Goal?
Wtloss replied to sylviau's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What a great topic! I was banded 6/25/12. I am at 205. I can't wait to be under 200. It 's been almost 8 years since I was under 200. I seem to be losing slower than most of you. I lost 12 lbs on my own in May then lost 7 lbs on the two wks of liquids. I have lost 11 lbs since surgery for a total of 30 lbs., (18 lbs since pre-op diet). I tried everything and couldn't lose wt and if I did I alway regained it plus a few more. I haven't taken any meds for a month, I am off everything. I can't believe it! My goal is to be 195 by 8/11/12. I am going to my high school reunion. I also want to stay committed to my walking. It's so easy to talk myself out of it when I come home tired. Good luck everyone,we can do it! -
Good Media Attention For The Lap-Band!!

Mis73 thanks for posting, very inspiring -
Most insurances send you the complete bill, however they only receive the contacted rate from the physician and hospital. The contracted rate is considerably less and depending on if you have a PPO or *** will determine how much you owe. If you have an *** and received prior authorization you only pay your copayment for either inpatient or outpatient surgery. If you have a PPO then it depends on your policy, but you still only pay your percentage based on the contracted rate not the full rate that you received a bill for. If your cash pay then you should have a flat rate similar to what others here have posted. You can call your insurance and ask then your out of pocket expense. Good luck!

Things get better with each day. You are still going through the tough days...but soon it will be over and you will feel great. As the weight comes off I feel better and better. I can walk without my feet hurting! -
Congratulations to all of you. I am not to far ahead of you in the journey. I was banded 6/25/12. This site is very helpful, it will keep you informed on what to expect and progress etc.

Having To Move After Surgery :(
Wtloss replied to lupediva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not worth injuring something, hernia etc....see if someone can help you even if you need to pay someone, a high school or college student. You are still healing and you don't need complications. Best of luck to you! -
Welcome. You are almost there! The liquids can get boring, but they really take the lbs off. This is a great site for support.

When can we start eating pistachio's? My surgery was June 25th. I just started mushies
-
Or cruises for tiny eaters! Maybe we could get gambling money for all the $$ we would save them in food!
-
It very sad that our children learn these sizes are normal. I live near Disneyland and when you go there most people are obese. They even had to remodel numerous rides to accommodate larger sizes. We are killing our nation with unhealthy habits. Even before the band my husband and I started splitting meals when we go out. He would say, "how would any one person eat all of this food?" we are extreme now. I just started mushy foods and I had Beans with cheese last night. The portion was so small, and that was my entire dinner! It seemed weird. I am still not used to the tiny portions. My head still needs to make the mental change, the stomach is already there!
