  1. Oh my goodness, where so I start? For me, it was more than one thing. I was no longer fitting into my clothes. I used to be a shopaholic and I absolutely hate shopping now. Nothing fits or looks good on. Second, I could no longer take the stairs without being out of breath. It's really embarassing. Last but not least is my health. I have PCOS, insulin resistance, high blood pressure, migraines, sleep apnea and I just had my gallbladder removed. I don't want to develop any more life threatening diseases. I want to elminate them. I'd like to have a child in the future and to get married. I want to get rid of my PCOS and have regular cycles. I want to feel confident enough to date. Most importantly, I want to be healthy.

    Youngster Bandster??

I'm 21! I'm getting banded August 6th, I was supposed to be banded in July but my gallbladder prevented me from me being banded! I'm currently recuperating from gallbladder surgery and I have the lapband incisions too, which aren't fun! I'm glad to see other young bandsters! PS- Don't let your weight bring you down! Plus, you are doing something about it and changing your lifestyle to a healthier lifestyle! Welcome to the forum! My phone keeps submitting my posts before I finish! Sorry for the editing!
  3. The side of my left foot is slightly swollen and today a pain developed, whenever I walk or take a step it is painful. I had a venous doppler last Tuesday and it came it out negative. I'm kind of worried! I dont want to be one of those patients who always calls her doctor for a false alarm. What do you think it is? Anyone ever have a similar problem?

Did You Keep Your Surgery A Secret?

I just told my immediate family; my parents and two brothers. They were very supportive of me! My mother had lapband surgery in January. My father and brothers encouraged me, knowing my medical background and weight history. I didnt feel the need to tell anyone else. I didn't want to explain my decision to anyone or have anyone judge me. My best friend recommended the surgery to me and she new it was an option for me. However, I chose not to tell her now. I want to wait until after surgery and after the weight starts to fall off. In the end, it's your decision who you tell. But once you tell someone, there's no backing out. I learned from my mother. She told everyone. Everyone started to come over just to see how much weight she lost. For Easter, she didn't get the usual Easter basket filled with goodies, instead she got a flower. She was treated differently because of her decision to tell people she had lapband surgery. At the end, the whole town knew she had surgery and I don't want to be the focal point of the evenings conversation.
  12. I had surgery the 12th. I had my gallbladder taken out and was supposed to have lapband surgery as well. Well, my gallbladder was pretty bad and my surgeon couldn't put in the lap band. My stomach still feels miserable. I have the lapband incisions because my surgeon was planning on putting the lapband in. I am now scheduled for lapband surgery on August 6th and I start school the 20th. Will I have enough time to recuperate? Because right now I'm 10 days out and still feel miserable... PS- I'm glad some of you are feeling better and I hope the rest of us feel 100% better soon!

    Gallbladder

I was supposed to have my gallbladder taken out during lapband surgery. My gallbladder ended up being really bad, acutely inflamed and filled with gallstones. My doctor ended up taking out my gallbladder and not placing the lapband in. I now have to wait three weeks until my lapband surgery. If he placed it in at the same time, I would have been prone to more complications and infections if he did place my lapband in. I guess it depends on your surgeon and how bad your gallbladder is.
  14. I wish I could sleep on my stomach! My incisions hurt way too much! I can barely sleep on my back and I'm 10 days post op.

    Pain Under Left Breast

Thank you everyone! I took pain medicine last night and felt a little better. I went to my doc today and he didnt seem to worried either. He said it could be a pulled muscle or gas pain. I'm just gonna up my pain meds and walk.
  16. Hello, I had surgery last Thursday. I have this sharp stabbing pain underneath my left breast. It hurts to sit or walk on it. I can't sleep. Can it be gas or something else? It seems to be getting worse. I have an appointment with my doctor in the morning but I'm not sure if I can wait.
  17. I took medicine on an empty stomach, basically had a couple bites of jello. I have surgery in the morning and I just vommitted! I'm scared! What should I do? Is this going to prevent me from getting surgery? I can't eat or drink anything now since it is past 12. :'( my throat and stomach are burning...

    Post Op Diet

Trust me, you would get sick of it. I've been experimenting with different flavors but I'm about to go crazy! I don't think I can ever eat ramen noodles again after the preop and postop stages! However, it is better than the other broths. I'm glad you like it! I also strain Campbell's chicken noodle Soup and beef vegetable if you want to try that! You mix the the can of soup with Water and I usually add some black pepper, boil and then strain! Yummmo!

    Post Op Diet

This is what I have been living on the pre op liquid diet because the boxed broths are disgusting! It is yummy!
  23. Did you take any daily multi vitamins?
  24. My insurance won't pay for fills until 3 months after the procedure, so I won't get a fill until 3 months after surgery. Has anyone else experienced this? I thought they would cover monthly fills for the first year at least? I'm scared this will effect my weight loss time greatly.
