    e mail addresses

I would private message your email address to the individual. However, if you want to post your email to a thread, use good judgement and use this format to prevent spam: email AT domain dot com. An example would be xxxx AT xxxx dot com

    Bridesmaid dress help!

Anyway you could order both and return one later? If not, I would order the bigger size! It sounds like the dress would be a one size fits all type with only two sizes anyways? If it is, I don't think it would matter if say you went down to size 12, being that size A is 0-12 and size B is 14-?... What I'm trying to say is that I think you can pull off size B even once you shed some weight

    Eating slow :(

Just out of curiosity, what are you all eating at this stage? I'm still on mushies haha never thought I'd love mashed potatoes this much...
  4. Hi Everyone! I was wondering if any of you had trouble eating certain foods before your first fill? Did you get stuck, PB, etc? Did you have any food restrictions besides the post op diet that your doctor recommend you follow? Also, side question, did anyone burp/hiccup a lot during your recovery phase with the lap band? E.g. while you were on liquids? Thank you

    BBQ?!

Hello all I'm invited to a BBQ where I will be approximately 5-5 1/2 weeks post op, I will be on the soft food stage...what can I expect to eat? No one knows I had surgery so I'm wondering if I should go or skip? My nutritionist said to follow a bland diet/low Fiber diet while on soft foods. I don't know of any BBQ foods that fit that category. Thank you in advance

    skin glue over stitches?

My doctor said the glue will come when it is ready! Every person differs as to when they will peel off I wouldn't peel it off because its there protecting your wounds and will prevent bacteria from going into your scars.
  7. I feel you! My mom had the lapband done so all her friends and some family members were telling her and me that I should get the lapband too! They ask her almost everytime they talk to her if I got the band?! I finally told her to tell them that I'm not getting surgery and I know what do if I want to lose weight. How rude. I simply think it's no ones business.
  8. My doctor recommends 2 weeks full liquids, 2 weeks pureed and 2 weeks soft food before returning to a normal, solid diet at 6 weeks. What were your favorite pureed and soft foods? I'm not liking pureed soups and I'm tired of eating anything sweet. Thank you!

Lost 140 lbs in 9 months

Wow!! You are an inspiration!! How did you do it? Any special exercises or diet besides the band?? Way to go!!
  10. This is a weird/silly question, but since I've had surgery I've been sleeping on my back until I heal. Well the thing is, when I wake up my hair is so tangled from sleeping on my back. I have long wavy/curly hair. Did anyone else experience this? I've found that I have to douse my hair with lots of conditioner when showering and use a hair detangler. However, this is making my hair break and fall out. What can i do to prevent tangles? I sleep with my hair up in a pony tail or bun. Thank you in advance

Did you feel restriction prior to your first fill?

Aww! No don't be embarrassed! There was a point in time when I didn't know what it meant either! You learn something new everyday!

  14. Has anyone with PCOS gotten pregnant after losing weight? I have PCOS and one of the reasons I'm getting banded is because down the road I'd like to have children and I know PCOS may lead to infertility.
  15. I have what seems to be a little pocket of pus underneath my big port scar. One problem, I'm 4 months post op! Has anyone else had this? Should I call my doc? How should I treat it?

    Pus Pocket Underneath Surgery Scar?

I'm surprised he didn't prescribe you a liquid antibiotic! I wish you a speedy recovery! hang in there!

    Pus Pocket Underneath Surgery Scar?

I don't see any stitches popping out, it could possibly be a suture that didn't dissolve correctly. I had a hematoma/seroma in this particular scar. It's just been bothersome since day 1. Thank you for your reply. I've been treating it with rubbing alcohol and will call my doctor's office on Monday.

    Soup Soup And Soup !!

Lol I'm not on pre or post op diet but I don't think I can ever eat ramen noodles, pudding, yogurt, tomato soup, brocolli soup, or any cream soups again unless they are medically required...I feel your pain! Hang in there! Try different flavors.
  20. I have had them! I think it is due to being overweight! I can't wait to lose weight and to hopefully have the excess skin and scarred skin removed by plastic surgery! I know how you feel and they are very painful!
  21. Ever since I was young, my mother resented the fact that I was obese. God forbid she had anything to do with it, from oversized portions to not implementing exercise or signing me up for sports. I always wanted to play soccer as a child, her excuse, "Honey, your too chubby to run after the ball". Gymnastics; "Can you imagine your chubby thighs in tights?" To family vacations to the beach where she compares me to a beached whale. I love my mom and I know she loves me. But I was never the thin girl she got to dress up pretty. What's even worse is hearing my grandma say " so and so said you have such beautiful granddaughter, IF only she would lose weight". My mom replies, "Yes, I know mom she has a beautiful face, she just needs to lose weight. She decided to have THE surgery." After I told her and my whole family that I do not want anyone else outside of our immediate family knowing of my decision. Well due to my gallbladder surgery this summer and my incisions getting infected, I didn't have the lapband surgery and it is now postponed until December. My mother has been on a rampade ever since. For example, we were reminiscing about high school and friends and she replied, "What friends?! You had no friends! Who was going to look at you like that?" Wow. I had many friends. And was actually quite popular. I was voted "Best Dressed" besides the fact that I was obese in her eyes. And today she throws another dig at me. My cousin, whom I'm not talking to because of my mother, had a dinner party and didn't invite me. I told my mother I had never gotten in fight with any friends like my cousin always likes to pick fights. She replied with , "At least she has somebody around to pick a fight with. Who do you have? Your fat and you did it to your self." I'm so incredibly depressed right now. How can someone be so hurtful? My own mother too.

Not The Daughter My Mother Wished I Would Be

I love my mom and I know she loves me very much. I told her again today how her words make me feel. She replied with saying how I always told her I was overweight. But she understood that she stepped outside of her boundaries. She didn't apologize but she did tell me that she loves me very much and she lives for me and my two brothers. She said that everything she's ever done in her life was for us. She said that she lives and breathes for me and loves me greatly. I don't think she will bring up my weight in a negative manner again. I could never cut my mother out of my life. I agree with the user who said something about her saying things like this for me to try and and lose weight, but it's just the opposite. It makes me sad and frustrated and makes me wanted to bake cupcakes! I told her how she always complained about my weight and I could tell she felt remorse. I know that deep down she wants me to be a healthy and beautiful individual. Sometimes, our emotions get the best of us. She's said many beautiful and loving words to me and has been very supportive, however like I said in an earlier post, these are the words I'll never forget she said. I'll forgive her though.
