New Here..lots Of Questions
scorrea replied to knknosmom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My journey seems to be different than a lot on here. From my first consult with a surgeon about the surgery, I had about 3 months to surgery. It took a while to get appointments with the other doc's I see to get clearance for surgery, then I scheduled. That was it. I had to see my gastro, a therapist, a nutritionist and a pulmonologist. and have an EKG and a swallow study done. Once I was done, my surgeon put the paperwork into my insurance and they approved it within 3 days and I scheduled surgery. I did have to prove that I struggled with my weight my whole life, that was through regular doc sending a letter to insurance. I was one of the people that did not have to lose any weight prior to surgery, I am not sure why this is. I think everyone's journey is a bit different, as is every doctor. My doc did say not to worry about the extra skin as we are losing so much slower it wouldnt be such an issue also. Good luck on your journey!!! -
Thank you! Nice to see some positive things!

6Days Post Po And Starving
scorrea replied to ambertuttle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was also banded on the 19th, I am permitted to be on mushies now though. I know all doc's are different. I was starving myself from the second day after surgery! Doc said my body would tell me when I was ready to move up to the next stage. I do not think its strange, hope you feel better soon! Stephanie -
Congrats!

Hi all, since my surgery I have found this site to be a plethora of information. These feelings I am having now started really bad yesterday. I feel scared. I read so many horrible things that have happened to people because of this band, I am afraid I will have complications. How will I know if my band is slipping? My mind is running with these questions and I am scared. I was nervous before the surgery, but this is crazy, I am wondering should I just get it out? Has anyone else had these feelings? Are they normal? Do they go away as you progress? I am still so new at this. I just started mushy foods today and finally feel some relief in my stomach from the hunger! I appreciate any input

I have seen all over this site the phrase "slider food" mentioned. Can someone please tell me what it means?

Congratulations! One of my goals is also to wear my wedding rings again! -
Hi, I am looking to find out about the burping that I am doing. Is it because I have taken in too much food? I mean food, liquids? I am still on liquid diet, with a scrambled egg here and there to help with the dizziness and light headedness. I am still drinking Protein shakes and boullion. I feel full, maybe a bit too full? Thank you !

Thank you everyone for your input! I feel better now. And yes, I was told by my doctor that an occasional scrambled egg to keep headaches and dizziness at bay was ok, I can go to mushy foods this weekend if all is well.

I am on day two. I feel good. Gas has been moving around, my belly is a swollen lump, but I feel good. Just very hungry. Not sure if this is normal. Good luck and feel better!!

I had my surgery yesterday and I feel great. I have pain at the incision points, but most of gas is moved out. I am starving! That is the hardest part. I just want to eat! I called my Dr and they gave me permission to eat scrambled egg and yogurt. I am drinking my protein shakes and still on bouillion and water. I hope it gets better soon for you. -
Hello everyone! I am a bit tired here, so please excuse any major problems with what I write. My surgery was this morning and I happened upon this group after I got home. I am so excited now, with people just like me that I can ask all sorts of questions to. Thank you for this chance. I will be navigating my way around so please excuse me if I ask some questions that others have already asked and has been answered. Thank you!

Thank you for your kind words and welcome! I am surprised I feel well enough to surf the web too after this surgery. In fact, this morning I feel rather great! Still pain at the sites, but I am tolerating the water and protein shakes wonderfully! I even called my doc nervous that there was something wrong because I felt so good! I was given permission to eat a small scrambled egg or yogurt if needed!

Hello, I have a question. I just had my surgery this morning. I know my post op diet is pure Clear liquids, at least for the first week. Things I have read say just one sip of Water here and there today and maybe a bit more tommorrow. I am not chugging anything, or taking big gulps, but sipping a bit of water? I am starving! Oh, btw, my doc has ok'd Protein shakes for this week too. I am drinking that too. Took me 6 hours to finish one can. Back to my question, is it ok to be drinking water and broth? Or should I be sipping just a bit? Thank you! Stephanie
