Yesterday started ok, I had a dr appt in the morning so I missed Breakfast and when I got home I had a salad in a wrap. It was my husbands birthday and the entire family went to Joe's Crab Shack, I got a meal and brought most of it home. I did have a piece of cake with my family when we got home, my son wanted to sing happy birthday so I indulged! Today, the same thing... early start so no breakfast, lunch was spent at the grocery store (buying good foods for the house, so I have plenty to choose from for my meals) I had left over crab for lunch too. Then I made some fresh eggplant caponata for a bbq tomorrow, tasted that, but ate a bunch of crackers!! dinner consisted of fresh made Asian chicken burgers, they were slider size, I ate 2, with no bun and some broccoli! I tasted more cake tonight.. shame and ate more crackers tonight! UGH! I feel awful. Way too much food for the past few days, even though I didnt hit my calorie intake or my Protein intake. I feel so full! and I did not get in any exercise other than running errands! Sorry for the complaining, I feel just horrible. I have cravings and I just want to eat even though I am not hungry. I still have no restriction, I see the doc on Wednesday. I hope to start the restriction process soon.

You usually will be required to see other doc's as part of a pre op. My insurance approved my surgery, then according to my doc that was doing the lap band for me, I had to see a therapist, a nutritionist, a GI and a pulmonologist. I know some had to see a cardiologist too. Once these pre op appts are completed, then my surgery was scheduled. I do know every doc is different, but I think most had to see some sort of pre op doc's first. You can ask around too.. you will see how everyone was different. Good luck and I wish you the best!!!

I agree with all of the above. I lost 10lbs pre op and up until my first post op visit, now I know I have gained a few back, but I am ok with that right now. I am making good food choices and working hard on portion control. I know when I have restriction I will get help with this. My doc was very specific on the theory "this is the time to heal, not lose weight" I keep drinking my water and eating my protein and we will go with what happens. I see my doc on Tuesday and am hoping for a fill!!

Former Fat Kid Recipe For Turkey Meatloaf
scorrea replied to SteveFrett's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have only used turkey for years! I omit all eggs too, never needed them, with the other wet liquids it binds just fine! I use Peter Lugers instead of ketchup and drop a bit of soy or whatever else fancies me that day in it. Its always moist and delish! -

Things To Think About On Your Lap Band Journey
scorrea replied to Fantasy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Great words to live by! Thank you! -
I agree Mis73, I was one of the not so informed! I did a lot of my research myself, so that helped and being able to ask here. Like I have said in the past, with me it was my diet and food changed that are my biggest obstacle. It is still a learning curve and with the info I have gotten here and the programs (I just loaded the fitness pal to my phone!) I have learned about, hopefully I will get better soon!

Bandster Hell Is Winning! Aaghh!
scorrea replied to zgb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel your pain! I feel the same way. I am still 2 weeks away from a fill due to scheduling conflicts and I am a wreck! Last night was bad... I had to walk away from the table b/c I just wanted to eat more! I am so hungry! I honestly do usually eat more than a cup a serving right now, I am just using better choices. I dont go for seconds and I dont fill my plate up either. I know I am better than before, but its horrible! Good luck to you -
No, I did not receive any diet instructions, my nutrionist was not very good. I think the thought of Celiac spooked her a bit. I will try what you just gave me. I just wanted to see what some other people ate too, I know I will be better when I have the exact diet down... and also a fill, I havent even had one yet.

Hi, if I want GF toast or bread, I actually really like Udi's. I really try to stay away from carby foods though. Not a Pasta eater anyway... its hardest for me to portion control at this point. my food choices are not always great either, but I eat fast and eat too much at a sitting! I have such a hard time with this! I have to work hard at thinking about my food. Tonight I got up and left the table b/c I was not hungry anymore, but I wanted to keep eating! Ugh! Stephanie

Hello! I have only been banded for a few weeks, but I also have PCOS and Celiac disease! I feel what you are going through, I can use any advice too!

I have the same problem! I dont eat much during the day, good choices and all.. then at night, trouble! I am not hungry, but I sometimes force myself to eat b/c I dont want to wake up in the middle of the night hungry or eat dinner at 8pm! What to do?

Sleep Study For No Reason?
scorrea replied to SusieSunshine's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had to have it done. My surgeon requires it for all patients. I never had a problem more than once in a while snoring and the outcome of the study was that I do snore, more than I thought, but no sleep apnea. This didnt hold up my surgery either. Wishing you the best! -

High Protein/low Fat Foods...
scorrea replied to Secondchanceatlife's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I like salmon too! Seems to be really popular! Bake it in tin foil with pesto on top of it! YUM! my son loves it too! Tuna is a life saver too. Greek yogurt is good, cottage cheese is yummy, working with the Babybel cheeses too Parmesan Tilapia is good, ingredients fixed to be lowfat though. very good -
Well I agree too, but I was one of those that came on here and asked some "stupid" questions. I needed to hear it again from people who went through it. I wanted to know about liquid diets, because there is so much out there and doctors with different information. I was glad to get the answers, but I asked questions. I am sorry if some of you felt I was not informed enough. I was, and still am, scared through this journey as I make mistakes... and need some affirmation that I am not alone and can come here and get some encouragement. My nutrionist was horrible now that I have found out what others have gone through. She asked me what questions I had, not knowing what to ask, I got nothing from her. I have no calorie intake to watch for, nothing on proteins vs veggies and fruits.. its horrible. I depend on what people ask here right now, for I cannot afford to pay for another nutrionist today. its tough. but I will make it through with some help. I think that is what this board is for? To help us that don't know? I have some answers, but not everything. Thanks for all the help I receive now and in the future!!

Do You Have A Favorite Brand Of Protein Shakes?
scorrea replied to KanesMom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I buy the premade in a can shakes from Trader Joe's. My doc recommended them and after a few bad ones, I finally drove the distance to Trader Joe's and found them and loved them! Good luck! -
It took me a bit to try soda again and it did bother me a bit. Nothing too horrible, but it did. I generally keep all carbonation out, but I have had popcorn with no bother at all. Good luck!

Between last night and today I had a better time with my choices and the amount of food and exercise I had. I had a lot of company over for a clam bake last night, clams, oysters, crabs, mussels, corn, broccoli salad, the works! Everyone ate a lot. I did have some, but no where near what I would have normally eaten. Today we went to the boardwalk, rides and such for the kids, I had a lemonade... everyone else ate and drank and had ice cream, I waited to eat until I got home for my grilled chicken. And I did a whole lot of walking on that boardwalk too! I am happy with my results for the past two days. I sat watching them eat, thinking, someday I will fit into this booth comfortably again!
