I didn't cry, but I did have some emotionally charged moments. Mine was due to the realization that I was truly addicted to food. It will pass and you'll soon be feeling good and spreading the joy!

TJ, most of the guys I hang out with are actually envious and/or very supportive, but they aren't the most masculine fellas either..lol Most of my friends are sci-fi comic book geeks such as myself. The only callouses I ever get on my hands are from playing guitar...lol!
I actually think it takes a much stronger man to be able to make a lifestyle change that you and I have chosen...So next time challenge them to drink liquids for 5 days, survive being stabbed 5 -6 times, and then control your eating the way we have to. Now THAT is a MANLY MAN! *high five*

xsentrick got a reaction from ☠carolinagirl☠ in 14 Hours Post-Op
What helped me get through and deal with the gas pain was walking...Short walks taken frequently. I took 15-20 steps every 30 or 40 mins. Just walked around the couch or around the island in the kitchen. Great stuff! Wishing you a speedy recovery..it will get better!

xsentrick got a reaction from alexa_nj01 in Ibanded One Week Ago Today!
Hi guys! My name is Robert and I had the iband procedure last week and wow those first 5 days were brutal! I'm feeling much better today and looking forward to a healthier me and lifestyle.
I've spent most of my life overweight so I know these changes are a not going to come easy, but it looks like there is so much support out there and here that at least I know I am not alone! In the first week I am already down 12 pounds! I'm so excited. Can't wait to hear and read about everyone's success stories! Look forward to meeting and talking with you all.

Really? Hmmm...I was banded on 6/12/12, and scheduled for fill on 7/30, but Dr. says that is tentative based on my performance and weightloss before then. I'm curious about your situation.

Wow congrats to all, well my waiting has come to an end because I'll get banded tomorrow if gods willing. I have lost few pounds within the last month I really didnt do the pre-op diet how I was supposed to and I am feeling a little guilty abaout it but hey I needed to enjoy my last meals but in moderation. Tomorrow will start my real journey and I am so ready about. Last year around this time, I was weighting 250 that was about 5-6 months after I had my first baby which I gained 60lbs during my pregnancy; but thank God today I am weighting 229 and looking forward to reach my goal which is 160lbs. I am so thankful that I found this website because I really dont have much support people just dont understand that this is a sickness, it is not just being overweight its a mental problem. I am hoping for the best and praying God to give me enough strengh to go thru this process and have a wonderful accomplishment. We all can this this..

I hardly ever drink, but I did when I was 2 weeks post-op. I had one glass of Jim Beam on ice. Sipped on it for 2 hours and still got a buzz.

Just what I needed to hear today, rather uncanny actually...I'm almost 2 months postop, an have come off of the high of the weightloss. I have recently started feeling a sense of loss, and it hit me last night that it's the lack of being able to comfort myself in the same manner that I have allll these years...with food...it is a process, and I don't regret it at all...I realize it was very unhealthy for me, and I have to grow from this...glad to have you all as an added support system )

xsentrick got a reaction from ValleyGirlRN in Emotional Regret
I was amazed at how much of an emotional attachment I had to food! It's as if it was my longest living best friend and I would never see him again. No one there to bring me up when down. No one to take away the pain of everyday problems. No one to tell me how things will be alright. No one to party with me on the weekends or to make road trips fun! But that friend while all of those things, was also making me do things that were detrimental to my health and causing me to ignore all the other things in life that matter so much more. Do I miss my friend....yes. However, I will NOT miss the rest of my life.
