Lately I have been able to drink my morning coffee and I don't eat Breakfast til about 11am. Is this normal? Am I getting a taste of the green zone? Only bad thing is, my food cravings/hunger is worse in the evening, I have to keep myself busy, and there is only so much cleaning and yard work I can do before it's all accomplished lol. 5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs). 7/24/12 (191lbs) 7/30/12 (187lbs) 8/14/12 1cc added total of 3.8cc (187) 9/14/12 .3cc added total of 4.1cc (179lbs)

Lori, just what I'm discovering on my path.. I too have an 11cc band. I've had 3 fills with a total of 4.1cc. I'm getting very very close to the green zone! Each individuals anatomy and stucture is different. Please do not be alarmed that you have as much Fluid. Some people have to get 10cc in order to feel restriction. I would definitely express your concerns to your doctor and allow for some patient teaching!! And of course you have us to vent and provide support!!! Good luck and by all means don't stress!! 5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs). 7/24/12 (191lbs) 7/30/12 (187lbs) 8/14/12 1cc added total of 3.8cc (187)

Thanks .... It has been tough, but it has gotten easier day by day... I'd be lying if I said it wasn't a struggle, but it is a battle worth fighting for.... I mean I can cross my legs again!! Yay for the simple things!!! Good luck to you as well!!! You don't have much longer until surgery!! 5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs). 7/24/12 (191lbs) 7/30/12 (187lbs) 8/14/12 1cc added total of 3.8cc (187) -
Hello all my fellow bandsters and future bandsters!! I want to take the time to just give a few encouraging words today! Do not allow a few bad choices over shadow the great choices we are making. If we are recognizing the bad choices we are making, it shows we have come a long way. We are more congnisant of what we do and how we do it. Can we truly say we recognized it before the lapband or the start of our journey? Each day we spend in this lifestyle is a challenge, but we also grow. Don't beat yourself up over a drink of coke, or a slice of bread... Just recognize it and DO NOT make it a habit!! I hope every one has a great day.... Remember today will soon be the past, but we have to ensure our future by planning for tomorrow! 5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs). 7/24/12 (191lbs) 7/30/12 (187lbs) 8/14/12 1cc added total of 3.8cc (187)

Return To Work Was A Complete Failure. :(

Hey Kristin, I did wait until 6 weeks to start lifting over 50lbs. Now after 2-3 weeks I could lift and carry boxes. I had to listen to my body. The port incision was the worst, but I was able to function pretty great after 2 or so weeks. Now what I can say is I have a higher pain tolerance than most, but you know how us nurses are... We are stubborn, but I am thankful because I know when it is bad enough for me to say, nooo you can't do this. The day I returned to work I was already turning patients, and doing small lifting duties of like 5lbs... But I did wait to try heavier things once my incisions scabbed or fell off!! 5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs). 7/24/12 (191lbs) 7/30/12 (187lbs) 8/14/12 1cc added total of 3.8cc (187) -
To me the pre op diet was the toughest! Our bodies are used to us packing it full of calories full of carbs and fat. I wish you good luck to hang in there through the first couple of days as your body is withdrawing from the "normal" routine you had!! I am diabetic and it was especially tough for me, but even with cutting the carbs down to less than 20g per day, my lowest blood sugar was 71. Which isn't to shabby!! Good luck to you!! 5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs). 7/24/12 (191lbs) 7/30/12 (187lbs) 8/14/12 1cc added total of 3.8cc (187)

My nutritionist had me calculate my BMR... Basic metabolic rate. It was 1600 if I was sedentary, meaning if I eat 1600calories a day with no work out, I would maintain my weight. As we want to lose weight we have to create a deficit... Lower our calories and/or add working out... That is how we lose! I am actually doing a 1200cal/day diet and rarely exceed that. If you google the BMR and equate it online, you will have a better idea of your ranges. Hope that gives you some insight!! 5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs). 7/24/12 (191lbs) 7/30/12 (187lbs) 8/14/12 1cc added total of 3.8cc (187)

I agree with Mis... My doctor doesn't suggest eating breads or pastas because the believe in the low carb diet. I'm now on a midrange carb diet and still losing weight. I do on occasion have bread (no rice or Pasta yet)... But my weight loss has been gradual and steady... I have to chew chew chew, but I don't see a problem with it as long as it is in moderation!! You have to find what works best for you. Realistically the Atkins was great for my pre-op but I didn't want to set myself up for failure by not having some mid range carbs in my diet, especially since I work out 6 times a week on average. Best of luck to you and your journey!! 5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs). 7/24/12 (191lbs) 7/30/12 (187lbs) 8/14/12 1cc added total of 3.8cc (187)

Sorry to hear of your situation. Everyone is different! I had surgery on a thursday and was back at work the following Tuesday. Including the day of surgery, I had only 5 days off!! When I returned to the floor (I'm a nurse), the first two days were tough, but I was back to functioning semi normal minus lifting by day 3 and four back to work! Take time to heal yourself... You are in charge of your health!! I wish you the best of luck!!!!!! 5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs). 7/24/12 (191lbs) 7/30/12 (187lbs) 8/14/12 1cc added total of 3.8cc (187) -

Hey all!! I had to express my thanks to all in the forum who have been so motivational and inspiring. I hope that I can pay it forward to the newcomers as well as the regulars!!!! Well here I go.... (rather lengthy) I was 130-140 my whole life until I turned 25 years old when my thyroid went byzeric. I got down to 120lbs and my doctor had to "kill" it. In two months time I went from 120 to 190... Oh yes stretch marks and I haven't birthed not one child yet. Since I was 25 years old I have struggled with my weight and was diagnosed with PCOS as well as Type 2 Diabetes..... I gained an additional 27 lbs last year in June when my ex passed away tragically. Yes we were separated, not together, but we always kept our love evident. We always said life was leading us back to one another. Needless to say his death was a tragedy and had a major affect on me. Thankfully I have great family and friends that helped me to mourn and recover. I still felt like "Dang I'm 33 years old, with no children, and no prospects in site". I tell you God works in mysterious ways. 6 months ago, by chance, maybe fate, I had the chance to reconnect with a guy i really cared for when I was 23 years old. Who would have thought 10 years later we would have found eachother, not to mention being 80 lbs heavier. He never judged me for the weight gain and always told me I was beautiful no matter what size. In May i decided to go ahead and get my health right, and started the lap band process. He couldn't quite understand why I wanted to get WLS because he felt I wasn't that overweight, but my health told me different. Since losing 31 lbs, he is now my biggest cheerleader. I've even got him eating healthier!! So basically in saying all of this is... Congrats to everyone who has started their journey. This is a start to your new life and new lifestyle. Don't ever think that it is a quick fix, but a tool to help you along and motivate you to eat right and do better. Also, that you never know who your admirers are, but I am thankful I met someone who could love me whether fat or thin, and accept me with the good and the bad!! Have a great night!!
