My doc said for the first 2 weeks water is the main thing not protein. I don't know what I'm going to do if I don't start tolerating the mixes soon...Hopefully when I can eat, I'll get meat in my diet and hope to be okay :/ I think we are some of the lucky few that can drink that much and not throw up!!!

Pre Op Diet Starts Tomorrow!
alicia820 replied to evelynvsg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ah! Congrats!! Everything is going to be wonderful. It sucks to say, but go in with the notion, yes...I will wake up in some pain, but it will be controlled. And for a few days, it does kind of suck. But it wasn't horrible! Everyone has different stories and I'm so glad mine is a good one (so far, I'm only 5 days post op). It's strange to say but I feel sooo wonderful...Today I weighed myself at the doctor's office since I had an appt (unrelated to my surg) I have lost 10lbs in 5 days. 5 days!!!!!!! Crazy! That's 21lbs since June 8th! That makes the little bit of pain worth it, I'm on my way to being healthier : ) Keep us updated!!!!!!! Good luck! Don't be afraid to push the pain button! -
Sorry you're in so much pain : / I'm 5 days out and as weird as it is, the 4th day was the worse for me. I laid in bed all day...I swear if I get clots it will be because of yesterday! The loritab isn't helping me much either...But tylenol Pm is...They told me not to take pills yet but sent me home saying I can take one of my regular meds that's a 1 gram pill...it's huge!!! So I figured tylenol pm wouldn't hurt plus it really helps me sleep! I'm starting to have a lot of back pain from sleeping in the same position. I can't wait till I can lay on my side all the way! Have you been using a little pillow against your stomach every time you get up and down? That has been a life saver for me!!!

Hiii!!! I am only 5 days post op..and as of today I can easily drink 16 oz of water, powerade zero and milk in 40 mins. I thought I wasn't going to be able to do that. I don't think that would stretch the stomach since it's over a 40 minutes period...but I'm not sure. How fast are you drinking? And how many oz? If you add protein to my milk or water, it takes hours for me to get 8 oz down. I just can't drink it. The taste is soooo different than before surgery. So I've been drinking 3-8oz cups of skim milk which has 8g of protein per serving. So I'm getting almost half of my recommend protein plus I eat yogurt so that helps. I just don't want to loose my hair!!!!! Can you drink a lot of anything including protein?

What Shakes Did You Use For Your Pre Op 3 Shakes A Day
alicia820 replied to newgrandmother's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Walmart has body fortress for 15 dollars, the chocolate is pretty good! I like to put it in a blender with some ice and mocha coffee creamer. O and 1% milk. I have yet to go from 2% to skim...I think i'll stick with 1%. My surg doesn't seem too concerned with that though. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Body by Vi protein with some ice, milk, coffee and mocha creamer. Very very good : ) I just had some samples of it and I know it's pretty expensive so I'm bummed. I also really like Orange Crush that my friend got at muscle max. It's also expensive at 65 bucks! That mixed with water and a to-go packet of orange crystal lite...yummy!!!! So.... Those are the ones I recommend. If you have the money, I do suggest Body by Vi and Orange Crush. I'm so sad that I just can't justify spending that much money : / My surgery is the 27th! So I've been trying to get protein in so that liver shrinks up!!! Good luck, let me know if you find a brand you like! My doctor doesn't want us on ensure, too much other stuff in there I guess. -
What Will Happen If I Don't Follow The 2 Week Preopp Diet?
alicia820 replied to Bigdogkc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a week into my 2wk pre op! Date is June 27th. My surgeon has me on a 1200 cal. diet until 2 days before, then all liquids. Some days I know I am not getting 1200 cal and a few days I know I've gotten more than 1200. It's been hard somedays. Tonight my husband and I made homemade pizza, I made a very very thin crust for myself, loaded up with tomatos, onions, green peppers, mushrooms and olives, spinkled it with cheese and had very little sauce. I was soooo full!!! I know I consumed quite a few more calories than my usual dinners have been but I'm hoping since I had so many veggies on there that they were good calories : / My mind is definitely hungier than stomach though...Good luck! I hope it gets easier! Pretty soon we'll have no choice, which I am really excited about : ) -
Congrats! I get sleeved in 1 week!!! Ahhh : ) I'm very excited and anxious!
