I did my first one today !!! It was great. Ran about 2/3 and walked the rest. Already planning my next one and working up to a 10K. Good luck to all trying to do this. There is a before and race day pic. What a difference a couple of years can make.

It is possible. I have lost 173 lbs. in a year and a half since my surgery. It fell off quickly at first and now has leveled off. I am more than thrilled with what I have done and the changes in my life. Doing my very first 5K this weekend. Never in a million years would I have ever thought I could do this but with this helper all things are possible. Keep a smile on and know you are worth it.

I am about 16 months post ops and have lost 154 lbs. since surgery and 172 lbs. total. I have been at my current weight for about a month now so I think it is my body saying I am happy now. I have lost about 25 lbs. more than what I thought I would be at so I am so not complaining. I hope that all who are starting this journey or are along the ways on this find the happiness that I have with this procedure. I know that there are hard parts of this but remember you are worth all the hard work that you put into this and it will be worth it in the long run. Good luck to each of you. You are worth it.

5'6" tall
Started at 336. May 2011
Surgery was 320. Nov 2011
Size 26/28 and 3-4x shirts
Today
5'6" tall. Lol.
Weight: 167
Size 10 or 10 petite (bought Talbot pants today in petites)
Size med-large tops.
Still have a hard time believing that I could be that size even looking in the mirror. Pick out clothes and just know that they will not fit and holy cow they do. It is a great feeling to really think of your self looking good in clothes not like a large blob. Good luck all.

How many calories do you eat per day?
I am not real sure. Have not been a counter but would guess between 900-1100.

Thank you for sharing. Simply amazing! You have done something right! Did you have stalls? What did you do to get out of them?I have not had bad stalls. Increasing calories sometimes helped jump start when I had several days at the same weight. Also don't know if it is just me but having some caffeine seemed to help.

Wow!!!!! You look incredible.I'm also almost a year out and my weight loss has been steady but very slow. I was a low BMIer to start though.
Hoping to lose the last 27 in the next 6 months!
Unbelievable before and after!
Good luck to you. You can do it!

Wow' date=' what a change! Congrats! Now that you are a year out, how does your food volume for one meal compare to where you were at say, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months.....[/quote']
I am getting more in than say six months ago but still losing just not as fast. Just have to watch myself at time and say back off when I catch myself doing "bad" habits.

Well tomorrow will be one year to the day and I have to say that I am a new gal, I was not expecting the results that I have had. I feel wonderful and would not change anything that I have done. i waited a while to have this done debating on if this was right for me. I deliberated would this be right and I now which I had not waited on this. I started out over 300 lbs. when I got the process started. I had my surgery and started loosing. I have changed lifestyle choices on food and exercise. I have not been one to count all the Protein and calories etc. but I have made choice on how I eat and this is the best way I have done this. I exercise on a regular bases now and it is not the hard workout but enough to get the blood flowing. I can officially say that I am half the woman I was. I have lost exactly one half of what I weighed when I started this process. If you have reservation or trying to decide about this surgery I would highly recommend it to all who need a new start on life. I have been given a new chance ...

Congrats!! I have to laugh because it is my hip bones that amaze me along with my shoulders. I really have bones. After 150 lbs down it is amazing what you discover you have that you had forgot about. Keep up the good work.

As a middle school teacher we get the kids at their most "strange" moment in their lives but I love it. Today I saw a student I had two years ago, who is now a sophmore in HS, and he was shocked by me. It took him a few moments to recognize me but when he did he gave me a big hug and ready for it....told me how proud of me he was. WOW. What a role reverse that was but it was the greatest compliment I have received since my surgery. Thought I would share as we all head back to class as "new" teachers.

Hello everyone! I'm a high English teacher in Detroit and was sleeved June 12th. I missed the last week of school and my 9th graders badgered me to why I wouldn't be there. My admin team and close teacher friends know and I've seen them a couple times since. Very encouraging. We're having a high turnover of staff this year so it won't be such a big shock. The kids....well you teenagers are self absorbed so the may or may not notice in the fall lol.So true about the teens. LOL!!

HI! I teach 7th grade Language Arts in California. I won't be sleeved until November' date=' but I've already told five co-workers (two of whom are my roommates).I will tell my principal and that is all. I'm getting sleeved over Thanksgiving break (we get a week off) and will take off the week after. I've already begun a high Protein low carb diet with exercise so I'll have already lost weight when school starts back up next month.
I don't plan on telling any of my students... possibly a while after the surgery if they ask about the weight loss. I guess I'll decide when that time comes <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />[/quote']
Most won't even say a word. Mine did not when I had it done. They will be afraid to offend you. That is what I came to find out from a couple of kids I was close too. Good luck to you.

I teach 8th grade science in the DFW area in Tx. I had my sleeve done over the Thanksgiving break this past year. Just past 8 months out and I have lost 119 lbs. I told the people that I work with that I was having the sleeve and they were supportive of me and have been a great support since. Everyone has had a kind word and a keep it up. I am thankful for great people to work with. My students this year did not really say much but I have seen some that I previously taught and got the OMG....you have gotten so skinny or thin.....got to love it. I love how all us teachers have scheduled our surgery around breaks. Made me laugh!!! Well good luck to all and have a great "thin" year!! I will be.
