    Slow Loss At the Beginning

I fear sounding like a broken record but here goes... I was banded exactly 1 month ago and have only lost 10 lbs. I am real happy with that but... I thought I'd lose a lot this first month (like a bunch of you lucky folks). Here's my question. Has anyone had a slow start (like myself) but once they had their first fill have the wl kick in to a good pace (1-2 lbs per week?). If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Is this what restriction is all about?

Jennye, you lucky duck! Donali, thanks so much for the (always) wise words. I think in my 'gut' I felt what you expressed but my mind wanted the easy way out. I am going to try and work the band as is for another month and then try and go a little tighter. and BTW, the wine night was an exception. Most nights I couldn't dream of eating 1/2 that, thank God! what freedom and joy. ciao for now guys!

Is this what restriction is all about?

hi everyone! J. congrats on your WL. you look MAHVELOUS! Congrats on the fill. It sounds like a kicker. I don't know if this question is on point, but here goes, I had my first fill 4.5 weeks ago. I am at 2.6. Up until this week, I PB'd a lot. but it wasn't consistent and it still is not. For example, on 2/7 I was invited to a special dinner and ate 3 small rack of lamb pieces (5-6 oz I am quessing). I also had like 4 small stonewheat crackers with a little cream cheese and a little smoked salmon on top (another 2-3oz?) and about 3 oz of greens. Of course I had like 2 glasses of chardonnay with it. (I know, i know). It went down like butter, no problems. But then a week later, on the 14th, I ate like 2 bites of bread with jam the AM and bye by birdie. It all came back . So I know bread is absolutely out now. Would you all think this is too loose, or I should stick with it and not go tighter just yet? I am itching to go to 3 cc b/c my losing is rather slow. ps. happy birthday donali!

    Slow Loss At the Beginning

Thank you all so much for your friendship and support!! This is a long tough journey and it means so much to me. I know 15 lbs. in 8 wks doesn't seem like a ton but at this rate, I can be at goal by June/July. If you have more advice or comments, please continue sharing. I really appreciate it....

Happy 3 Month Bandiversary to me!

you look awesome & it sounds like you are very happy. i want to thank you for all you cool postings that inspired me. i first saw your postings around november before i had my band placed. reading your stories helped me think that everything would be ok. i am so glad that the band is being so good for you. saturday i go for my first (desperately needed) fill so hopefully the losing games will begin. oh by the way i LOVE your dieting success secrets. i have to think of some even GROSSER ones. perhaps liverwurst and peanut butter on seaweed? i also just wanted to throw it out there that i kind of wish doctors here were like in europe where they fill you right at surgery. at any rate, i guess as long as you lose and feel better, the pace is simply secondary. keep up the awesome work and hope to hear more stories of your continued successes....

    Have Surgery Date, SCARED

had to reply to this one. everyone says the same thing Leo just did that it is a miracle or the best thing they ever did for themself so I just keep my fingers crossed and pray ... good luck. ps. it all varies but I had more pain from my iv then from the cuts. also i just wanted to clarify. i had no pain from the cuts and they are healing great. the iv situation is just 'cause I have teeny veins and am very sensitive so the vein bruised but it was no biggy. eveyone on the forum was soooo supportive and said how the procedure is really no sweat. at least for me it was no sweat and I am very grateful for that, a great surgeon and for all the wonderful people in this support group!

    scared_but_sure

Dear Everybody. Thank you all for your kindness and concerned responses. I feel SOOOOO much better now. I have been doing nothing but research for a long while but discover new stuff every day. Today I came across the following: http://www.lifelinewls.com/Lap_band.htm and was horrified. It made it sound like the band does not work at all. I know rationally this is not true. In the wake of that awful link, I went to the FDA website and downloaded the truth about the FDA study and found pretty much what Sue summarized. I look at this way. It's been a long time since I've even been in th 170s so it is TOTALLY worth it to me. And I am going to try my darndest to go all the way. Thank you all again. You are all wonderful!!!!
