LLCoolNoe got a reaction from slojo67 for a blog entry, First Adjustment
Wow - what a crazy few weeks this has been! It still feels a bit unreal how far I've come on my road. Going from a high of 458 to yesterday's weight of 395 has really helped me understand that I CAN do this. During the fill, my RN and NUT were both stunned at the amount of weight I've lost since starting the pre-op diets (the NUT's exact words when he saw the scale were "holy ****!"...seemed like genuine shock). When asked what I've been doing, I just told them that I've been following the plan they laid out; cut out the sugar/carbs, amp up the protiens, watch the booze, walk a little, and take some vitamins. I think the biggest reason for the initial success has been cutting all of the beer/soda out of my diet (I was having ALOT of each). Now that my body is adjusting to not having the crap in me, I realize my progress will certainly slow, so i'm not trying to get too excited over it, but it certainly is encouraging. I've also experienced my first NSV - I fit into some shirts that I haven't worn in two years! I hope the rest of the July bandsters have had as positive experience in their journeys as I have. I wouldn't trade this for anything!
My personal mantra throughout my journey has been, and will continue to be "kick the weight's ass!". So far, everything's going to plan - shibby!!!

LLCoolNoe got a reaction from Nyt for a blog entry, 1 Day To Go
What a long strange trip it's been! In less than 24 hours the slicing and dicing will begin! I thought I'd be more nervous, but with all of information I've received from the True Results people, all of the posts in the forums, and all the other random reading I've been doing I really feel like I have a pretty good handle of what's in store for me. I'm sure when I wake up tomorrow morning I'll be singing a different tune, but for now, I'm just excited and anxious to get this part over with so I can get started on the rest of the journey. Well, I hope today goes by fast so I can get to the big day tomorrow!

Today was a pretty good day. I made my turkey chili and it wasn't bad at all. I was pretty scared of it cuz...well....ground turkey sure isn't ground beef, but it turned out okay. Incredients: ground turkey, black beans, onion, minced garlic, tomato, chile powder, one of those chile seasoning mixes (I forget the brand), bell peppers, corn, salt, pepper, oregano, and hot sauce. It was pretty good! It was really heavy too, so I decided to get a little work out in after. Didn't feel like going to the gym so I just hopped on the kinect and played my Zumba Fitness demo and man oh man, do I really need to work on my merengue pump...lol! After, I decided to have a quick snack and grabbed a yogurt. Just for fun, I checked out the back of the label after the fact, and I had no idea how much sugar/carbs was in that little cup of yoplait (strawberry something or other). Needless to say, I'll be back to no snacking. We're all entitled to a little slip, so I'm not concerned. It's fight night - time to watch Ortiz v Lopez!

LLCoolNoe got a reaction from Bubie1916 for a blog entry, My Very First Blog!
So here I am...blogging. It's day five of my pre-op diet and I'm really excited. There have been some temptations along the way, but I've been able to keep them at bay. I feel VERY lucky though, as my diet isn't quite as strict as others I've seen. I'm on 2 protein shakes a day (breakfast, lunch) and then a healthy dinner (moderate amount of a protein, all the veggies I want). Not too shabby, things definitely could be worse. Luckily, this has forced me to eat things other than fast food and I'm quickly re-discovering that I LOVE my own cooking! I grilled an amazing cedar plank salmon the other day and it immediately moved into my top 5 favorite foods (sorry chimichangas, you got bumped). I've also discovered that I absolutely adore grilled asparagus and grilled zuchini. Up until last week, I have never eaten either (well, I've had fried zuchini at the bar, but I'm pretty sure that don't count ). Tomorrow, I'm gonna try my hand at turkey chili! Prior to the diet, I was honestly worried about whether or not I'd be able to do it, but if this first week is any indication, I think I'll be okay Just gotta stay focused. Well, time to soak the beans (that's not a euphamism...remember, the chili).
Best of luck to everybody out there on the same journey! Remember this when tempations creeps up; nobody is making us do this, we're doing this because we love ourselves. I love me some me!

School is out.... summer time is just wonderful. love the kiddos but I so needed a break. I decided to do a little cleaning. As I sorted through some of my clothes, I noticed that most of them were too big. So what's a girl to do? What else is there but to shop!!! I went into the store to try on a few things and WOW... A size 14 regular pant suit... It fit perfectly even the jacket... Although I have only lost 25 pounds the inches are really melthing away... I am thanking and praising God for the little things!!!
