I started wanting to have bariatric surgery about 8 years ago. However, since my insurance has a bariatric exclusion, I have not been able to have it. I have decided to bite the bullet & just do it now. I thought that I wanted to have the gastric sleeve done & even went to Dallas & consulted with a doctor there, but after more consideration, have decided to have the lap band instead. I am going to use a local physician who has a great track record & the price has recently dropped somewhat. Self-pay price is 12,475 with 18 months post surgery care.
So, I will attend a seminar June 23, consult with doctor June 25, then surgery July 5th. I am excited and nervous, and have started drinking protein shakes. I have a lot of research still to do, but am ready to get the show on the road!
