If I'm constantly burping after I drink? I had my second fill yesterday, 6cc in a 10cc band. Liquids aren't coming up but I burp a lot and get a heavyness in my chest sometimes. I can't eat anything soft without feeling stuck. My doctor had me on liquids yesterday and soft foods today. Will it get looser as time goes on? Need your help Mis73! You're an expert and I trust your advice! I'm afraid to eat.

Unfortunately I'm new to this journey and will probably get stuck lots more times before I really get the hang of it. But it will be worth it in the long run!
-
@ Ms Jess I know what you mean about being scared to eat! I'm scared too. Getting stuck is no fun! And it hurts for a while! The pineapple juice and enzymes are supposed to help get you unstuck. I tried a few sips of pineapple juice and it allowed me to slime up the food that was stuck. I didn't throw up, just a ton of slimy stuff.

I think I was eating too fast. I just had some vegetable soup and it seems fine. And I'm finally full after eating just one cup! I think I'll stay on liquids for another day just in case.

Im so excited! See you on the other side!

My surgery is on June 27th and up until today I've been totally excited about the possibility of losing all this weight. But today I feel scared. Can I really completely give up drinking with meals? Am I going to ruin my quality of life with all of these restrictions? What if I go to Italy someday. I can't eat pasta and drink wine with my meal? Am I prepared for the major life change that is about to happen? Should I try (and probably fail) yet another weight loss option? I'm sure I'm not the only person who has felt this way.

Milk of Magnesia works great! -
Self pay at $200 per fill
-
I am a self pay and I must agree with you all. My surgeon did not stress the importance of the eating guidelines. I had to learn about it here on this site! Hopefully others will do the same.

I enjoyed mixing mashed potato flakes into my broth. Yummy!

It sounds like its infected. Put a cotton ball saturated in hydrogen peroxide on it. Then call doctor first thing Monday morning.

Just Banded & Now Recuperating
joannedt replied to JewelsMommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The heating pad was my best friend! I also did a lot of walking. Even though I couldn't stand up perfectly straight, I got out and walked. I believe that helped me heal really quickly! Best of luck and hoping for your speedy recovery! -
I loved putting mashed potato flakes in my broth for more substance. Yummy!
-
I waited a mere 5 days and had no problems.
-
A heating pad helps a lot and although it may hurt, walking as much as you can will speed your recovery. Hang in there!
-
Did the papaya enzyme work? I've heard this before and want to know what you think.
-
You have no restriction yet! My doctor told me not to expect any weight loss until I get restriction from the band. Once you hit your "green zone" the weight will come off! Don't worry and be patient. It's gonna happen! :-)

Not Drinking With Meals?
joannedt replied to fericito's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you need to visualize. Think of your small pouch being nice and full but then you drink something and wash it all away. Then you're hungry again. The food needs to sit there for a while so you feel full. Helps me. -
I'm a self pay and my total was $15,000 on June 27, 2012 in California
-
Yes, almost everybody experiences the same thing! My advice is never let your pain meds wear out, use a heating pad and most importantly WALK! Give yourself some time to heal and stay hydrated. I'm 2 weeks out and I'm perfectly normal now with zero pain. Best to you!
-
Was wondering how many times of over eating will stretch out the pouch? I've slipped a few times and now I'm concerned.
-
I have been following the rules except a couple of times when I just felt so hungry and ate. My doctor did not tell me about getting too much water at one time. Since I have absolutely no restriction yet, I would assume it goes right thru pouch to your stomach, not affecting the pouch at all.
-
Thanks! One more question, can drinking (non alcohol) too much cause the pouch to stretch as well?

After three days I no longer needed my Tylenol. Still had slight pain but it was manageable.
