I had my 4th fill on Monday and everything was fine until Thursday when I got badly stuck at dinner. So I went on liquids to let my aggravated stoma heal. Now today, Saturday, I can't even get liquids down. Of course this happens on a weekend so I can't get an unfill. Is it possible my stoma is still aggravated or did my band just suddenly get tight?

How many calories per day do you recommend for optimum weight loss? I've been doing 1200 but I see several people here do 1000. My fitness pal tells me that low amount would put me into starvation mode. I'm consistently losing 2lbs a week right now and have 40 lbs left to lose to hit my goal weight. I'd sure like to speed things up!

Thanks Ladies!

I'm wondering if I'm the only one experiencing this. Ive found that now that I have restriction, I no longer receive the same pleasure from food that I once did. I tend to eat fast and get stuck more than I should. I also get tired of eating because it takes so long! Food isn't as fun and delicious as it used to be! I guess I should be happy about this but I miss the pleasure I used to experience. Am I the only one?

Breaking All The Rules
joannedt replied to gabenmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the same story as you. I discovered that I can eat normally after one week post op. and boy did i eat! I was eating solids when i was supposed to be on mushies I didn't lose a single pound for several weeks. But then by my third fill the magic happened. Suddenly I was able to eat small portions and actually feel satisfied. So don't give up hope! It takes a while to get into the green zone but once you do, it's easy to stay on track. I highly recommend using a calorie counter like my fitness pal and stay at 1200 calories or slightly less. I didn't follow the rules in the beginning but now that I have restriction, I'm losing weight! Best of luck to you! You've got this!!!!! -
I've read that the gas/carbonation can dislodge the band. I'd stay away from all carbonated drinks.

That's no way to live! You need a slight unfill.
-
Why? What happened at your second fill?
-
Argh! Went to a BBQ today and got stuck. The host was talking to me while I had a PB situation going on! What are some of your most embarrassing LB situations?
-
It's not scary, just a nuisance.

Wow, sorry nobody has responded to this yet. Yes, it sounds like you need just a little unfill if you can't even get water down. However keep in mind that you are likely to be tighter in the mornings and this is normal. :-)

Why Isnt This Working For Me?
joannedt replied to lindseya7x's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I find that 1200 calories per day is the target for weight loss. You need to religiously weigh, measure and record your food every single day. Don't assume! I use My Fitness Pal iPhone app and it has helped tremendously! -
I'm noticing the same thing. I'm glad you posted this thread!

Let me know if that works!

Sounds like you need a slight unfill. I'm in the same boat. Going to get a small amount removed tomorrow. I can't even get a protein shake down!
-
I'll give it a try. Thank you!!!

I have 6.5 cc's in my 10 cc band as of today. Now when I take my prescription medicine (a capsule), I get stuck. :-( does this mean I'll have to open it up and take just the insides? Yuck! Any suggestions?

How can I tell if I need another fill? I had my 2nd fill last week and I now have 6 cc's in my 10 cc band. I'm eating exactly as instructed and I feel like I'm always hungry. I log my food religiously at 1200 calories a day, concentrating on protein first. I'm losing about 4 pounds a week now that I finally have some restriction but this constant hunger is killing me. Do I need another fill?

I've read many posts from others who've had hair loss after surgery. Surgery is a major stress which will cause hair loss. I've read that taking Biotin will help both hair and nails.
