Jennivsg replied to robin33's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had surgery on 12th. I've been having chest pain which I attribute to spasms or gas....I don't know. They are getting a little better. Ive tried walking while taking my small sips and that seems to help.....unless its just resolving on its own.....again, I don't know. -

June 2012 Sleevers Post Op Check In
Jennivsg replied to robin33's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Had my surgery 2 days ago, June 12th. I'm home now and dealing with a 'no kiddin, kick your booty' kind of pain in my chest (I'm guessing gas pain or maybe spasms). Can't stand taking the lortab, just the thought sends me into dry heaves. I'm only allowed to have clear liquids for the first 7 days and i'm not to add any protein to my diet for a week or so (my doc is not a fan of protein supplement). I was told by my dietitian that protein this early is a little too heavy on the sleeve......which is OK by me, I'm having a hard enough time just getting in the clears. Hoping that I'm about to turn the corner with the gas/chest pain. -
I had my surgery 2 days ago. I wore loose yoga pants and a tshirt, make sure it's loose because you may be a bit bloated. You want something to slip on easily under your hospital gown so you can walk around without showing off your goods. Anesthesia was fine for me with no issues...like 'Beautiful D' I just wanted to sleep. Pain afterwards just depends. Morphine did not touch my pain and I hurt....they finally changed to Dilaudid and I was a happy camper after that. Now, however, being home I am having seriously terrible gas pain.....I had heard some warnings about gas pain but had no clue how bad it really is.....and keep getting advice to walk, walk, walk! But like I said, this is different for everyone.

Hi guys, I had vsg on tues, June 12. I was discharged home yesterday afternoon. I'm having the hardest time getting anything down. It seriously feels like I have a stone in my chest that moves up and down and expands. I have tried room temp water, jello, Popsicle, broth......it doesn't matter the content the painful result is the same. I have not had success with the liquid lortab either....I get it down and deal with the "stone" then I have uncontollable dry heaving. It is getting to the point where the idea of swallowing makes me sick to my stomach. Is this "stone" my new stomach with spasms? Is this the gas? I just don't know if this is normal and I'm in mega meltdown mode!

Day 2 Post Op And "dying"
Jennivsg replied to Jennivsg's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks! No hiatal hernia, but I appreciate the suggestions about getting the lortab down.....I will try it. I will also try the small sip and then walking. I surely didn't go into this thinking it would be rainbows and kittens but I seriously didn't expect it to be this painful. Will keep on keepin' on! -
Day 2 Post Op And "dying"
Jennivsg replied to Jennivsg's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am taking small sips and have tried warm, cold, and room temp fluids. Every time I swallow something the lump (aka: the stone) in my chest (between my breasts) expands and is quite uncomfortable. I just don't know if this is a spasm, if this is gas, or what.......I passed my "leak test" yesterday so I'm praying it's not a leak.
