  1. I was banded one week ago today. I don't have any Fluid in my band yet. I have been able to eat anything at this time including rice and grits; things I hear is a problem for most everyone. My question is: is this because I don't have any fluid? Or will it always be like this? The only difference I feel is I get full very quickly. This seems too good to be true. I had very little pain and I have eaten anything I wanted so far but small amounts.

    Questions Questions

Do you have fluid in your band already. My dr doesn't put any in until after the first.

    Questions Questions

When I say I can eat anything I want, I don't mean bad food. I have always eaten healthier foods, just way too much of it. I had 1/4 cup of brown rice with my fish which is allowed o. My diet. I thought I would have problems with the rice but I didn't. The next morning I had 1/2 cup of grits, again on my diet but have heard others have problems with it. My diet is allowed carbs but only whole grains and in small amounts and only once per day.

    Questions Questions

I was put on mushies right away and at day 5 my nutritionist said I could precede slowly onto regular foods but to stay away from tough meats. I was t sure about this so I call my Dr. And he said it was fine if I was having no problem with mushies. I've stuck with softer foods like fish but have done fine.

    Post Op 6 Days

I am one week post op and still have quite a bit of swelling around the port area. It isn't bruised though. My doctor had me on mushies for a few days and then said I could have anything I could tolerate. All has been great so far. I was very weak for a time but feel better now that I'm getting some calories in.
  7. Was banded on Wednesday July, 11th and I have gained six pounds. I don't sew where anyone else gained weight. I am very swollen but not 6 pounds worth. Please let me know if this is normal.

    Surprise During Ultrasound

They found a cyst on my kidney during a MRI. My doctor said it was nothing to worry about. He said I would probably have never known I had it if it were not for the great advances in technology. That was 3 years ago and haven't had any problems.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes and good luck to you Knitmom.
  11. I'm Scheduled for 11. I'm really nervous that I can't take my meds in the morning. I usually take extended release narcotics at 5 am for severe neck, back and spinal cord injury. By 11 I will be in horrible pain not to mention the new pain coming. I am very excited to get this new life started though. Everyone please pray all goes well.

    Extended Release Pain Meds

Good news! I heard from the doctor today and he said I can still take all my meds. He doesn't put any fluid in the band untill you heal so he said I won't have a problem with them. I'm am so relieved!
  13. I take extended release pain meds for a back, neck and spinal cord injury. I have read a few places that you can't take these. Has anyone had any problems? Also, my meds have played a huge part in gaining my extra weight so I am concerned that I may not be able to lose it stil being on the meds. Any experience? I am new to the site and my surgery is scheduled for July 11.

    Extended Release Pain Meds

You are right, none if those work and believe me, I've had more than my fair share. For a long time I fought the use of opiates because of their effect on me. Hated the high feeling and sleepiness not to mention the nausea. After 10 years of it getting progressively worse, I could no longer take the pain with advil alone. I have been fortunate enough to find opana which doesn't have any of those effects. It simply stops the pain. I hope we can figure something out because I need this surgery. The pain has only gotten worse since I gained the weight. I want to just have a better quality of life. I am so thankful for everyone's responses.

    Extended Release Pain Meds

During the consultation I told my doctor which meds I was on which included the extended release and instant release for breakthrough pain. I also told him I take maloxicam for arthritis pain. He said I would be fine on them. That is why I am asking because that doesn't seem right to me from all I have read. There is no way I could stop the meds completely as the pain would be too severe. I am already scheduled for surgery. I don't know why my doc would say it is ok and schedule me.

    Anyone Getting Banded In July?

I'm July 11. A little nervous but mostly excited!
  17. I think this related to the get thin clinics that had deaths in the Los Angelas area and not exactly problems with the band itself.
  18. I'm having surgery on July 11th with repair also so I appreciate the info. I have found u I get nauseous from simply drinking only the protein shakes. Did this happen to anyone else. Not sure I can tolerate more nausea than I already have.
