After 44 years of yo-yo dieting, I decided that I could not go on trying and failing time and time again. My sister-in-law had the sleeve in Oct. 2010 and when I saw what it was and how happy she was, i decided to finally do something to get really healthy. I've been eating healthy for years and exercising. I've done all the different weight loss diets out there including Weight Watchers several times, diet pills, diet clinics, you name it, I probably tried it one time or another. I would lose 30-40 lbs, then gain it all back. I'm 62 now with 3 grown children and 7 grandkiddies. I want to be able to enjoy them until I'm 105! I was sleeved on April 10th and as of today I have lost 39 lbs presurgery (mar 27th). I know that I'm losing slowly because of my age and I only have 38 more lbs to go, but even if it takes me another year to lose the weight, it will be worth the effort, finally. I've already "shopped" in my closet and brought out all the smaller sizes that are now starting to get too big (yipeee!!). I've given away 7 bags of bigger sized clothes, which is the first time I have ever done that. I usually just put them away in the back of the closet, but I don't want to see them anymore! I will stay thinner and healtier for the rest of my life. I am on no medication and my PCP has told me that I am no longer diabetic! That alone was worth the surgery. My mom died of complications of diabetes and I knew that if I didn't get a handle on it, I would be taking the same route. I am once again a happy person!
