Is Anyone Else Dealing With Lupis, Or Any Other Autoimmune Disease? Please Help!
alley-gator replied to LauraTarry's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have an unidentified ct disorder too, and I am looking into surgery. I am pretty worried about the fact that some docs wont ever let you back on nsaids since that's what I live on! I am in my 6 month diet now & hoping I can be sleeved in Dec. -
Being "mommy" And "marci"
alley-gator replied to mommymar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am in salt lake! I am currently doing my 6 month preop diet, and hope to be sleeved in Dec. Who did your surgery? I have a 14 month old & am really.nervous about how much time I want to spend on him, but doing this right too. -
I am at a family bbq for the 4th, and I am miserable. It's close to 100 and I am 245 lbs. I am determined that for our bbq on the 4th next year I will be ay least 50 lbs lighter, if not more. I should be banded some time in December, and until then I am hot, sticky, sweaty, and miserably fat. I am wy the start of my 6 month diet, but can't truly diet because I am literally 2 lbs away from 40 bmi and so I still have to wear weights to my consultation on the 25th. Today, I am more determined then ever to be banded and be helped to lose weight.

Punkin I am in Utah, what about you? I agree about the success stories, but I do get nervous about possible complications. -
Miserable At This Weight!!
alley-gator replied to alley-gator's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Punkin do you feel like you might have sleep apnea? I wouldn't be surprised a bit if I did, but it isn't likely ill have to do a sleep study. My surgeon doesn't even do upper gi on every patient unless he suspects a problem. I hope you don't have to pay yourself, that's a big chunk of change! Less than 4 weeks to my consultation- I wish it would be tomorrow so I could ask all my questions & get the ball rolling ya know? I see everyone on that day- the nutritionist, personal trainer, psychologist, doctor and insurance specialist. -

Will Bcbs Approve My Lap Band, If My Pcp Is Against It.
alley-gator replied to kband72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That all depends on your surgeon and insurance. For instance my surgeon requires a letter of clearance from your pcp stating that you are healthy enough & cleared for surgery. My insurance doesn't care what my pcp says but some insurances require a referral or for your pcp to be on board. -
So I have been researching vsg just to reassure myself that lap band is the best route for me; I already knew I didn't want anything to do with rny. So I've been lurking on vsg talk and I can't believe what band haters they are. Is there some unspoken agreement to make bandsters or those considering it feel awful? Something I learned today about the sleeve is most folks end up lactose intolerant and that's something I absolutely do not want.

Me too just a thing! I totally can't wait, I was looking at photos from a family activity we did 2 weeks ago and I can't believe how fat I am! If I was insure of the band before, that just made me realize how much I truly need some serious help! I am just starting my 6 month diet so I am pretty far out, but I will get there!

Food Sticking In Esophagus?
alley-gator replied to TornadoKnight Matt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've also heard of folks mixing it with laughing cow cheese wedges instead of mayo, that's something I plan to get after I am banded. -

When You Hit Green Zone, You'll Know It
alley-gator replied to kbliss78's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I am so glad to read this post!! It's hard being someone who is stuck at The very beginning of a 6 month diet and hearing so many negatives and issues with the band. Sometimes I forget why I decided to get it, and this reminded me. Thank.you! -
Nutritionist/ekg Appt.
alley-gator replied to FatGirlFitGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sammy an ekg that measures your heart rhythm is really easy...usually you get into a gown and they put 12 sticky things on you. These are attached to cords and then you hold still for about 30 seconds, and that's it! Not sure on the nutritionist, I haven't been yet! -
So I am new here, but know after much research I am doing lap band with plication. Tonight I went to my seminar even though I already made my choice, and she said that the death rates were 1 in 2000. I know that sometimes these surgeries are performed on very sick, end of the line patients who need help and that skews the numbers, but this really freaks me out. I am still going to go through with surgery after my 6 month diet is over, but 1/2000 feels like a huge risk to take . I really don't want to leave my family behind, I mean, isn't that the reason we are doing this to begin with? It doesn't help that I had a dream a couple nights ago that I the grimm reaper came down and got my soul from surgery and I died. Ugh, I know its responsible to know the risk, but I almost wish I didnt!
-
I CANNOT wait to be posting this myself! Great job!!
-
Mary that is very good to know thanks much! I did ask about death rates and they said that it usually happens post op not during surgery. I suppose I will just be super vigilant about walking, leg exercise etc...

So....I am at a 40.0 bmi right now exactly. My insurance pays for lap band at a 40.0, ir 35 with 2 co morbidities, and I only have 1. Okay fine, so I qualify because I am at 40.0 bmi great. But they also require a 6 month diet which I am just starting... There is no doubt I will lose at least 3 lbs, and drop below 40.0 bmi since I am barely there to start. This would mean I will not be eligible for surgery, correct? So why even start this process! So frustrated. This happen to anyone else?

I Think I Swallowed A Lemon Seed?

But seripusly, I don't know the answer. If a pill can stick, which it can, there is no reason a lemon seed couldn't. -

That's good to know cazzy thanks for the info! Sometimes its hard to process all this info I am ready while gathering research, or apply it to myself because I'm not banded yet.
