  1. I'm 3 weeks post bypass surgery. First 2 weeks no issue with vomiting. Now 23 days post surgery still can't progress past stage 2 liquids due to sudden onset of vomiting the same liquids and amounts that I was successfully taking in the first 2 weeks. The worst part is it happens when just taking in small amounts of plain water. The first indications happened 4 days ago. Waiting for a call back from my surgeon's office, but in the meantime, I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue. As I prefaced my topic, I doubt it's dumping syndrome, as I have been siping small amounts of protein shakes or even just water several hours apart but vomiting has been happening for several days now.
  2. Hi June Bandsters, It's been a while since I checked in and posted. Doing pretty well overall. However, I just had to have my gallbladder removed a few days ago so I'm on the mend again. Naturally the surgeon couldn't use the same 4 incisions as as band surgery, so I have 4 new ones! lol! Down a total of 41 lbs as of this morning since surgery in late June. Goal weight would be another 25ish. I'm sure that'll be harder to achieve than most recent weight loss, but I feel better. stronger and more confident (especially after most recent surgery), about ultimate goal. Hang int here June"sters", I'm proud of all of you!!
  3. Congrats on your progress so far! I am a little nervous about getting my first "fill". It's been 1 month since surgery. I'm flying to FL to visit relatives next wk for 5 days so my first fill will be when I get back. I've noticed lately that I get really tired (like after eating Thanksgiving dinner, type tired) and can't yet tell if it's because I'm not eating or drinking enough or too quickly. Other than that I haven't had any real issues since starting soft foods. My port is very close to skin and still sore at times, so it'll be interesting to see how I do with a fill. Down 33 lbs since pre-op yippie!!
  4. Hey Peyton21I too seem to be at a plateau right now. Since pre-op diet I'm down 33 lbs. But it's been like that now for 10 days. I walk at least 2 miles per day and know I'm not going over 1000 calories each day. However, I'm trying not to get too discouraged. I have been able to eat really soft foods and not just full liquids. Today is 4 wks since banding and I go back to dr.'s office in 2 days to see nurse and nutritionist. At that point I'm hoping to get more pointers. Since I am going on vacation out of state (flying) in 9 days, I'm not getting my first "fill" til I get back. So it'll be about 2 1/2 wks from now before first fill. I can live with that because I'm not really having any issues with food now as long as I eat and chew correct amounts. I'm assuming having my first adjustment will help me lose more weight and come off the plateau. While you may be discouraged now as I've been, I am at least maintaining the current weight loss and if I can still maintain this loss til after my trip, then I think having the "fill" will help break plateau. Hopefully this will be your case as well!
  5. Sounds similar to the pain I got a few days ago when it had been 9 days post-op. I ended up sending an email to my surgeon that night and in the early morning he responded back telling me to come in that morning (Fri) to check it out. I described it also as sharp, stinging sensation that came on suddenly and didn't subside too quickly. Turns out everything's fine and it's the "port" region (left side). He said it's part of the healing process. I was already scheduled to see him this coming week to get staples out, etc. but he is very accommodating and to come in which I did and in less than 2 minutes I felt reassured and not worried these last few days before seeing him again. That was 2 days ago while I'm still feeling twinges now and again that can be described as slightly bothersome, it's not like the sharp stinging pain that I got Thursday night. Long story short, you should probably call your surgeon's office. for peace of mind. Hope all works out for you!
  6. Happy pre 4th of July fellow USA Junies! Hope today finds all of you feeling spectacular and stronger every moment! I'm celebrating one week today since surgery and truly feel good this morning. Here in New England our summer's are short so we take advantage of beautiful days like today whenever we can. Went for a walk, had Breakfast on the back deck and played "Rummikub" with my husband, while basking in the sunshine. I feel blessed to have the support of my husband of more than 33 years, as well as all of you. I love US history which I teach as a 5th grade teacher. I love occasions that pull us all together such as celebrating our Nation's birthday! Also, a special"Hello" to our Canadian neighbors in the June Bandsters group, as well as others living across the Globe in our support group!

  8. PS Go ahead and cry, you've earned it! As I just posted day 4 was my worst too (left shoulder pain that caused nausea) I did finally lie down, cry, fall asleep and woke up feeling better.
  9. Yeah, Day 4 was my worst too. Thought day 3 was til day 4 hit. Good news is yesterday (day 5 was tolerable) and today day 6 has been the best! Hang in there. Sending positive thoughts your way. Check in again soon!
  10. Hi ZigZag, Thinking of you! Glad to see you join in! I was glad I started chatting before my surgery. Everyone here is here to encourage each other.
  11. Dear Thighhigh I too get that feeling in my chest/diaphragm if I take too much at once. Hang in there. My surgery was 6/26 and today is the first day I felt pretty decent overall!

    Hi June Buddies

Hello June Buddies, Now that it's July I wanted to comment that we need to stay connected. At this point (July1st) everyone in the "where's my june bandsters" should be! lol! Today is my day 5 for me (6/26) and overall I'm sure I must be healing and getting stronger. Less bouts of severe gas pain today. The only real pain is the intermittent left shoulder pain. NOTHING seems to touch it to decrease intensity when it comes on. I've tried pain relievers like ex str tylenol, ice packs, heating pad, etc) My best description to my husband is to think about the pain and nausea you feel when you've dislocated some part of your body. When pain eases up things aren't so bad, but when it comes on it's EXCRUCIATING! I've been walking a mile or so each day too (very slowly ) but find eating to be a vicious circle of gas/gurgles if I eat and the same if I don't. Anyone have any ideas for stage 3 liquids that really work for them? Well, hang in there "Junies" and for goodness sake KEEP IN TOUCH!
  13. I don't know if it's because it's the "dreaded" 3rd day or what, but I definitely felt worse today. Weak, very bloated, and now dizzy tonight. I'm taking anti gas meds but they do nothing to relieve bloating and rumbly in my tumbly as "Pooh" would say. Seems like a vicious circle, trying to have some liquids, but then feeling worse for having done so. I really don't have much pain, yes if I try to lay on stomach, it's uncomfortable or if I cough, but all in all incisions are manageable. How's everyone else doing recently banded? I am surprised to see I've gained a few pounds, which is weird since I'm barely eating anything. Also, if it's been a while since banding, how much longer will gas discomfort be???
  14. Banded Tuesday and feeling really good overall. Little sore and tired but tylenol and naps are helping a lot!
  15. About 40 hours away from surgery now (Tues am). Can hardly wait. 9th day of Pre-op diet which hasn't been too tough overall, except to say I really miss chewing! I'm anxious somewhat about post - op issues I've seen from various posts. I still can't figure out why people say they have shoulder pain for days/weeks due to anesthesia, and why even after a wk post-op people can barely swallow sips of water. I'd say that last one is my biggest fear, not being able to swallow/gag. WHY does that happen when the band isn't even filled at first, nor is it in your throat??? Has anyone out there had a fairly smooth post-op in the first week or two?
