I take schiff megared fish oil capsules. They are tiny. They cost a little more than other fish oil but it's worth it if you need to take it. I got lucky last month and bought the cvs brand and it was buy 1 get 1 free.

I haven't had a Tummy Tuck but I've looked into it and was told during a consultation that can lipo and lift that area at the same time. I was warned that the pee stream may be higher after.

I take a chewable multivitamin because regular ones got stuck. I always took 3 fish oil pills before my lapband but stopped those because they were too big. Now I take schiff megared omega 3's. Its a tiny pill and you only take one a day. I have no problem with it at all!

I was told the pre-op diet was to get me in the best health before surgery and to shrink my liver. My pre-op diet started 3 weeks before my surgery date. I could have 3 meals that were either a protein drink or bar and 1 real meal that was 6oz of lean meat and 1 cup of veggies. The drinks and bars had to be under 200 calories, 7 g fat, 7 g carb and over 15 g of protein. My nutritionist gave me a list of them that I could get online and certain stores but I did find almost everything in my local grocery store. I lost 12 lbs doing the pre-op diet and the doctor said my liver looked great lol. Good luck to you!

Tips for taking medications (pills and/or capsules)
Laurajean030 replied to BringingSexyBackToTX's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started out crushing all my pills but now I use a pill cutter and cut them into 4 pieces. As long as each piece is smaller than pea size I can swallow it without a problem. Taking crushed pills was nasty no matter what I put them in! -
I had a complete unfill, awaiting an upper GI (EGD) and still having problems with food.
Laurajean030 replied to ShelleyB's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had those symptoms as well as pain in my chest. I called my surgeon on mon 7/22 and was told to go on liquids (stage 3) and had an upper gi the next day. I have a prolapse and I'm now on liquids until sept 4th to give it a chance to fix itself. I felt better in about 2 days. Anyway...it's probably safer to go on liquids for now and it will prob help you feel better as well. Good luck to you! -
9 Days Post Op-Port Question
Laurajean030 replied to txgirl10326's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My port was very sore for a month or so. I couldn't sleep on my stomach for about 3 months. I think it took a month for the swelling to go down too. I feel like my recovery was longer than most in every way tho. I hope you feel better soon -
Finally under 300!!!!

Congratulations! Great job!! -
When I started working out about 6 weeks after surgery my port would get sore just from walking so I kind of hold it in when I walked but that went away. Now I run for miles and feel fine. I have a little trouble with my port area getting sore if I do a lot of sit ups or kicking in my workout. My doctor said I'm not restricted and to do anything I'm comfortable with.

Prolapse...any advise or stories please!
Laurajean030 replied to Laurajean030's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks Mis! Yes he did unfill my band. I was just trying to edit that post to put that in but I'm not so good with that stuff lol. I really hope that this will work. I'm going to be one grumpy hungry girl for 6 weeks! -
I had an upper GI done yesterday because I had thrown up quite forcefully a few weeks ago and haven't felt the same ever since. I had a little pain when I would first drink in the morning and food was coming back up hours after I would eat. I also was having reflux at night. I found out today that I had a small prolapse and now I'm on stage 3 again for 6 weeks then going for another Upper GI and if it hasn't improved then my band needs to be removed. Has anyone had this happen or know about it? Did the liquid diet work? I know everyone is different but I'm really nervous about this prolapse. I'm worried about the damage it may be causing right now and I'm also worried about having to go through another surgery for it to be removed, I was told the removal can be more dangerous than the original surgery because if the scar tissue that is around the band. I would be grateful for any advise on this, Thanks.

I had this problem after my last fill. I actually started happening about 3 weeks after. I was having reflux at night and had to go in for an unfill. I'm glad I did. I hesitated for the first few days cause I didn't want to lose the restriction I had. I only lost a little bit of the restriction but I'm eating how I should be and still losing weight. Now I can sleep through the night without puking. My doc also said if you get it into your lungs it can be very dangerous.

I have the same problem with yogurt, especially greek yogurt. When I was first banded I ate it and didn't have any trouble but now that I have restriction it gets stuck. Its strange because I can eat most things as long as I'm careful and it's later in the day but not yogurt! Bums me out cause I love it!

Pulling sensation from port site/area
Laurajean030 replied to Sunnyd623's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had that for about a month post op.I walked around holding my port area constantly. My doctor told me I could wear a compression garment for support, I only ended up using it when I exercised but it helped alot. I gave me alot of support but I found it uncomfortable to sit with it on. It may be too soon for you to do this with your bandages and healing tho -
I also have PCOS. I had lap band surgery in July and have lost 48 lbs. I've had days when I was up a lb or 2 then dropped 3 the next day. I believe it's the Pcos and fluid retention that does that. I know the lap band worked for me and even though I would get discouraged those days, I would try to look at my overall weight loss and know something right is going on. Please don't be discouraged, I was worried about how I was going to lose weight and if it was even going be possible and I'm very happy with my results so far. Don't listen to peoples negative comments. Most of them don't have a clue what they are talking about, especially when it comes to weight loss surgery. This is also a time for healing and recovering. You'll see the weight come off you just have to do the right things and give it time. I've also had a normal cycle since surgery which has never happened!

Hi Everyone, I just got sick from being stuck for a few hours. I'm about about 3 1/2 months out from surgery and have 1.5cc in a 10cc band, I've had one other stuck episode and the doctor talked me through it over the phone and luckily it went down with a couple sips of water, I didn't have fluid in my band at that time, This time however, I left it alone for a couple hrs and then tried the sip of water and threw up. I called the doc and the nurse said to try to drink some water tonight and if that goes down fine then I can eat but to let them know if I have any issues. Can anyone tell if this has happened to them and how bad this could be? Also, how did you ease back into eating, I think I'm just going to be done for tonight. I do know all about chewing an eating slow and I usually never have a problem but I think being sick with a bad cold and being congested isn't helping things go down, Any input would be appreciated. Thank you
