  1. That's what I figured but just wanted to be sure. Was hoping my carbonated water didn't screw things up. Won't do that again. Don't want to mess up a good thing. I've lost 44 lbs since May 10 and I have a 100 more to go to goal weight.

    Minkin's patients

Update: I am almost 4 months post op (May 10, 2012) and I am down 44 lbs whoo hoo!!! I love my lap band!!!!
  3. For the past three days I had developed a huge amount of gas and diarrhea (I know, gross sorry) and severe pain at times but never lost my appetite but every time I would eat something it would hang up slightly and a couple of times I had to vomit it back up. So I was just curious. Plus I had about 4 oz of a carbonated water without thinking and as soon as I realized I quit drinking it. Who knew bottled water was carbonated lol. It scared me. Probably just a gastro bug of some kind. It's pretty much settling now.
  4. Same thing happened to me one week post op. orthostatic hypotension. I started making sure I was getting enough fluids in to maintain my BP because I was bottoming out. Be sure to sit up slowly and dangle on the side of bed or the couch and get up slowly, stand for a min or two before moving to let your BP stabilize. Then move. Good luck. Drink plenty of fluids. Get some broth for the sodium as well.
  5. Rings that are loose on my fingers, a boss who told me I look hot lol, jeans have dropped two sizes, and a supportive husband and family!!!!

    Pizza?

I eat crisp crust pizza with no problem. Bread that is doughy almost always causes a problem unless you bite off extremely tiny pieces and chew, chew, chew. Same with pasta. Hope that helps.

    2Nd Weigh In

Nitecap0046 Lol tell your husband you are doing this to prevent the diapers from coming too early! I actually looked forward to baby food until I got there then decided the taste was ugh! I quickly opted for regular food puréed in my Magic Bullet and flavored with my spices and it was much better. Good luck!
  8. Went yesterday for my 2nd weigh in and in just about 7 weeks I've lost 17 more pounds. I now have lost 35 lbs total since May 10th. I also got my second fill. Yay!!! Hoping for another 17 before next weigh in!
  9. My daughter calls all these wonderful little accomplishments (ie....fitting into new sizes, looking good in the mirror, shoes fitting better etc..) NSV's or non-scale victories! I loved this so I stole it from her LOL. Sounds like everyone is doing great! Keep up the great work soon we will all be looking good!!!!
  10. My doctor has me lie down on the table and then he feels to find the port and gives me my fill. I've had two fills and he was right on Target both times, one stick only.

    2Nd Weigh In

Thanks everyone. Don't get discouraged you still have a lot of swelling for at least 8-12 weeks. Once you get your fill it will help a lot. But, it still requires work on our part. I use myfitnesspal faithfully to track all food and exercise. It has really helped me. Good luck to all.

    Minkin's patients

I have now lost 34 lbs since my last post. I have also been able to add some meats to my diet. Thank goodness. I just cut them into really tiny pieces. I feel very fortunate to have had this surgery!
  13. Why can't we have diet soda? I was a one soda a day person and really miss the flavor and carbonation. I always drank the decaf diet Pepsi. Also, has anyone tried popcorn like the fat free Smartpop from Orville Redenbacher?

Said Good Bye To The 300's

    Congratulations!
  15. I ate about a cup of watermelon and my heart rate shot up to 146 bpm which is way outta norm for me. Took it 10 min to settle back down. I called my Lapband doc who said no more watermelon and to contact my reg doctor which I did. Reg doc put me through blood work and EKG and all was normal but they both felt it was too much sugar. Really? Isn't that natural sugar??? I love watermelon!!!
  16. Thanks everyone for your responses. My regular doc did blood work and EKG and all was normal. As I am not a diabetic and typical don't have any heart problems other than high blood pressure he said just to limit my watermelon intake to just a few bites not a whole cup. He said that because of the small mass area the stomach now has it caused a possible insulin surge which can trigger a heart arrthymia. Interesting huh????

    Minkin's patients

Hi! My name is Martha and I was banded by Dr. Minkin on May 10, 2012. So far I have lost 22#. I have had 1 fill and my next appt. is July 31,2012. I think I will need another fill by then as I get really hungry now and am working really hard to follow a 1000 calorie diet.
  18. Can someone explain why it is so important to take Bariatric vitamins vs regular vitamins? I am taking in 1000-1200 calories a day, eating better now than ever before ( fruits, veggies, low carbs, some meats, protein bars) and taking in what most skinny people do in a day and they don't take vitamins and are ok. I find the vitamins repulsive tasting.
