In Dec 2012 I was at 5.5cc and I had a fill that bumped me up to 6cc. I had to have it let out because I was overfilled and I couldn't get anything but liquid down. In January the doctor took me back to my 5.5cc and now I don't feel any restriction. I have gained weight because I am hungry and having a hard time. I go tomorrow to talk to doc and maybe get a fill. 1) has anybody experienced this before? If so, were you able to finally feel restriction again? And 2) how do you get back "on track"???? Thanks for your help!!!!

Karanicole, Hi I had insurance but the 17,000 was what they quoted me as well. I paid 1407.00 out of pocket. DePere hospital has been great at making financial arrangements. I was out of work 3 weeks by choice but could have gone back in two. I had a lot of gas pain that I wouldn't have been comfortable at work with and I also had hernia repair as well.

On Wednesday Dec. 5, 2012 I was at 5.5cc in my 10cc band and I received a .5cc fill bringing me to 6cc. I did my liquids for the day then my mushiness then back up to regular food but I wasn't able to get anything in and finally when I couldn't even get liquids to stay down doing a lot of pbing I went in and they took out 1.5cc and set me out until Jan 2, 2013. Long story short I have gained around 5 lbs in one month with the holidays etc. but I truly didn't feel like I had any fill in. The pain I always had in my left shoulder is completely gone and on Jan. 2 I received a 1cc fill putting me back up to 5.5cc but I am finally back to regular food today and I don't feel any restriction and still no pain in my left shoulder. It doesn't feel like it did when I had the 5.5cc before. Has anyone ever had this experience or something similar? Why am I not feeling restriction this time? What do I need to do? I don't want to keep gaining!

Thanks I am still using my fitness pal to track everything going in. I'm just surprised that I don't feel any restriction this time around. I stick around 1000 calories and am incorporating the Wii fitness into my program.

Officially Banded Today W/important Question!
mas79 replied to Deevee0927's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor put 3cc in at the time of band placement. It was great, but you do still get hungry about week 3. Or at least I did. -
Just a quick question. I haven't had any problems yet but, what has been your experiences with vomiting with a stomach virus and the lap band?

Ask your therapist about EMDR it helped me dump a lot of baggage so to speak!!!!

Questions Questions Questions!!
mas79 replied to hh2291's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! I researched and went to seminars twice in two years before I finally made the decision and got insurance to cover it. BEST decision I ever made in my life!!!! Has it been totally easy? NO! Is it hard work? YES! But, is it worth it? ABSOLUTELY! I have messed up a few times through trial and error but thank goodness it has been forgiving and I didn't mess up too bad ie....eating to fast or not chewing well enough and getting stuck. Even with all that I'm so thankful to have my band!!! I feel like finally I have the help I need and psychologically it's my key to keep me on track. I watch at family functions as people load their plates nod and eat all that food and talk about how stuffed they are and I take small bites and I no longer feel stuffed only satisfied! I also eat whatever I want and don't deprive myself but now I decide if its a healthy choice or not. I weigh my options. I use myfitnesspal everyday to track. I am five months post op and I have lost 51 lbs. I couldn't do without my Lapband. I am 5'2 and started at this is a great place to help you make decisions after getting all your facts. Good luck with your journey!!!!. -
Afraid Of My Band!!!
mas79 replied to Randi Cartmill's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Way to go! I was fearful in the beginning but now not so much. I've had a few stuck episodes and have just learned to eat slower. My stuck episodes are from eating to fast. I cut everything small and chew chew chew. But I get in to big a hurry sometimes. Congrats on the great loss!!! -
Bend over in half to burp. I know it sounds crazy but it works!

Everything you all are feeling is perfectly normal. Just continue to stick to your diet and you will all heal correctly and do fine! I am 5 months post op and have lost 50lbs and I felt just like each of you in the beginning. I had a hiatal hernia repair and it took awhile to be able to burp without pain but it finally does go away.

You deserve it MORE than those who stick their noses up because you have taken charge of your life and are making positive changes. So climb in that chair shoulders straight and say I am worth it! Beside even those skinny little size 0's have crosses to bear as well. Enjoy!!!!

FallonB - congrats 174 days is amazing! Great job and keep up the great work!!! @ everyone else, smoking is bad for anyone, it increases the risks of blood clots which can be fatal, not everyone is lucky enough to survive. I am a nurse and have witnessed this first hand smoking also raises your risk for lung disease and some cancers. Finally, yes it can cause your band to erode and really if you are going to the all the trouble to have surgery to lose the weight and get healthy shouldn't you go one step further and give up the smoking to and make a pledge to be really healthy?!!!!! I'm 5 months post op down 50 lbs and the best thing I've ever done for myself!!! Keep up the good work everyone!!!!

My Meds Seem Too Strong Now.
mas79 replied to RahRahRah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you share with your therapist that you have had WLS? Also, try drinking maybe some sugar free Carnation instant breakfast that wouldn't cause swallowing problems and would get you some nutrition and then drink your protein shakes maybe. -

Wow!

Add some chocolate extract to your optifast shakes changes the flavor!

I have tried Nutrisystem and it too is expensive about $300.00/month for one person and you still have to buy groceries for the rest of the family and veggies to go with their entrees. I did lose 30 lbs in 6 months though. It comes off slow. Don't think I could eat a whole entree at one setting now though and that might be wasteful.

Do you have access to an inside pool for aquatic exercise? Working out in a pool is much easier. You don't get out of breath and it's fun!

I am 4 months post op and even though I chew pasta it still isn't my friend so I steer clear of it most of the time. Hard breads I can eat but nothing doughy.

Just wondering what symptoms go along with both of these?

Yes we are supposed to drink lots of water, and from water coolers is fine. I just picked up a carbonated water by mistake. My fault.
