Do you take Biotin? I take it daily. I took it prior to having the surgery. If you don't get some. It is for your hair and nails. I think I take 2500mg daily. It is a small pill so easy to get down. I guess I need to exercise more. The rest of you are making me feel lazy!!

Glad you were able to get your surgery paid. Sorry about your Mom. That makes a sad and stressful situation which can certainly cause comfort food eating!! I had my surgery the 5/30. I had one fill the 26th - 3cs. I still have no feeling of restrictions so I am having a second fill on the 10th. I walk everyday, but nothing that strenuous. You sound like you are doing great. I have only lost 14lbs. so you are my hero!!! I guess I am not following the dietary guide like I should. We eat out so much. I have found that I do not crave sweets, fats, etc. I am eating a much healthier diet. I can wear some clothes that have been unwearable for awhile. But I still want to get more of this weight off. I guess I will buy a scale and start weighing - eating out less probably would be a big help. Good luck.

I had surgery a little over a month ago. I had my first fill(3ccs) the other day -still do not feel any restrictions! I am going back for another fill the 10th. I have lost 13lbs. and, also, feel discouraged.
BUT I do eat a lot healthier and not nearly as much. Also, I have started walking every day and hope that helps. I have been able to get into some clothes that I have not been able to wear so that is progress. I am so sorry you are self pay. That is tough. Would your Dr. give you a break on the fills?
I use the Premier Protein shakes from Costo - 30gr of Protein. I boil eggs and use a lowfat mayo and mustard. I love the Hummus from costco with pine nuts. I eat more fruit, yogart, cottage cheese, etc. I do not keep any sweets, bread, etc in the house. And I am a nut for sweets. Keep on trying and good lucki.

I had band one month ago and only have lost 13 lbs. I, too, was very disappointed. I went for my first fill today - 3ccs. So far, I do not feel any restrictions, but have been on liquids all day. I have my second fill on July 6. I am praying that I see some results. I, also, had a hernia repair which was worth the surgery alone. I do not have any GERD - wonderful! My eating habits have improved. I do eat a more healthy diet,, but I am not good about exercising. Good luck to you and to me!!!!!

Great questions! Wish I had some answers, but I am about the same as you. I have about 50 lbs. to lose and I would appreciated the answers to your questions. I had band the 30th. I am having a fill the 26th. I have only lost 12lbs., but I can eat anything so my band must be empty. I hope, after the fill, that I will have some restrictions and lose more weight. I had the hernia repair, also. This has helped tremendously with the Gerd and nausea. Dox

I was banded on the 30th. I seem to have come to a standstill as far as weight. My Dr. really has not given me any information. I went in for a followup but it was very short. I did not know what to ask and he said to eat what I could tolerate. I am eating semi soft food. Still do the Protein Shake. I know I am not drinking enough Fluid so maybe that is why my weight loss has stopped. I don't know the size of my band or where my port is so I guess I should have asked more questions. I do go in for my first fill the 26th and after viewing this site I will have a number of questions to ask!! Dox

You know my surgery was scheduled late in the day and I am not sure how long it took. My husband said longer than he thought. My insurance covered both, but I am sure ins. would cover the hernia anyway. I have had no nausea and no Gerd so I guess the hernia repair was a good thing. Of course I am not eating all the junk I did before! Good Luck Dox

Yes, I was a cash paying patient and insurance will cover it since it was needed and if we had discovered it they would have payed for it anyway.

I am amazed at how much I do not know. I guess I was not very well informed and/or I did not do my homework and get all of the facts! I did not know you could stretch the pouch. I had surgery th 30th. I find I can eat anything - I probably already stretched mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am due for a fill the 26th. I am anxious to have that done. I will try to ask more questions so I am better informed. I have learned so much from this website. My Dr. is very casual, laid back kind of guy - hope I made a good choice.
I have not had a lot of pain, did have a hiatal hernia repair. I still have belly button pain - have no idea where my port even is - boy, do I feel dumb. Thanks for all the great info. Dox

My Dr. said to take a mild laxative. I felt much better. Dox

I did not know I had the hernia so was very surprised after surgery that I did. I had been experiencing severe chest pains which I have not had since the surgery. I think doing both saved you from another surgery and probably did not interfere with the band ( I hope). Also, my GERD is completely gone which is wonderful. I have had some nausea the last 2 nights, but I am sure I ate something I should not have eaten. My stomach is still tender and swollen and still some pain where the port has been placed. Hope you are feeling better. Doxie

Just wondering if anyone else can give me feedback on doing both of these at the same time. I am having pain still in the center of my chest and wondering if its from the repair because I think most of the gas is gone now. When I signed the consent to have it repaired if he found one I didn't think twice because I was sure I didn't have one. It just seems a little close to where the band is placed though...

Thanks so much for your replies. I have had the chest pains for a long time and never related them to the hernia, but, bingo that must have been it as my chest pain has ceased. I did have nausea the last 2 nights. I guess I ate something I should not have eaten. I have my first fill the 26th and I find it scary. RIght now I am able to eat most anything which is not good for weight loss! Heartburn is gone which is wonderful. Maybe my port is what is causing my stomach pain. I don't think I was very well prepared as I keep finding out more and more from people like you! Thanks again.

I had the surgery about 3 weeks ago. The last 2 nights I have had severe nausea. I am not sure if it is coming from what I ate or not. How soon after eating does the nausea start? Also, I am still having a lot of pain in my stomach which seems very bloated. I am scheduled for a fill the 26th, but a bit afraid since I am having nausea. Also, belly button very sore - anyone else experienced these symptoms. Almost went to ER last night - very scary. Heartburn is gone. I did have the hiatal hernia surgery also.

Does anyone know how it feels or what happens if your lapband slips? I have a hard place a little to the right of my stomach. A little worried and of course, Doc is not in until Monday. Any suggestions. Thanks.
