    Did You Always Know?

I have been obese my entire life even as a kid. To be honest I don't even know what skinny is because i've always been the overweight one. Looking back on photos I say wow wish i was that thin again...even if it was technically considered fat.

    Any Shorties?

I'm also a shortie 5'2". Highest weight 315. Currently going through the whole process & can't wait to start my new life with the sleeve. Hearing all the success stories makes me cry tears of joy. Can't wait to be a success story too - no ifs, ands, or buts - I will be one & wont stop until I achieve what I thought was impossible before. *high five to every past, present, and future sleever*
  4. My personal pick is the sleeve. My reason is because it seems less complicated then the bypass. With the sleeve the doctor is only touching your stomach. The bypass they are playing with your intestines too which for some reason scares me.

    Caring For My Pet

I personally would not. From what I've read you will be doing a lot of walking after surgery to avoid blood clots. What better walking companion than your own dog. Plus, I'm sure there are ways you could satisfy your dogs active needs without injuring yourself.

Made It Thru My First Zumba Class!

How long after getting sleeve where you able to start doing zumba classes? I've been debating whether or not I want to join a class after getting sleeved, but curious about the healing time after surgery before letting your body move like that.

    Information Session

My orientation was done by nurse, dietitcian, nut, and guest speaker of past patient. They went through a power point presentation talking about both the sleeve & bypass both pros and cons. Also talked about what to expect with a timeline. How much out of pocket expenses we'd have. (since here in Ontario, Canada OHIP covers the surgery). What tests & bloodwork we need to have done too. Etc. It was really informative & they gave forms you have to fill in & bring back to first appointment. Even was Q&A time so people could share their concerns or inquiry about. Don't worry, you won't be the only one there. We had a room full that kind of looked like a lecture in school lol. We were also encouraged to bring a support person. I brought my sister & she learned alot about the WLS journey I want to embark on.

    I Got Approved...! :)

Congrats!! & GL! keep us updated on your progress :-)
  10. This might be late information to this thread, but hopefully it will help someone in the future. If you're from Ontario, Canada you can check out all the information at http://www.ontariobariatricnetwork.ca Just have to get your doctor to refer you into the registry, then you'll get a letter in the mail about 1-2months later telling you when your orientation date is... from there you're on your journey! There are bariatric centres in Hamilton, Toronto, Guelph, and Ottawa that you can have the surgery at. The bypass & sleeve surgeries are both covered by OHIP!! So rejoice!! I sure am!! :purplebananna: :not_ripe: There's a and shares some of the out of pocket expenses she had, so this might help you as well when saving money for this surgery. Hope this helps my fellow Ontarians! :cornut:
