Book Club (Inspirational Weight Loss Fiction)

Yes these are fiction. They are weight related books. The Cinderella Pact is about 3 friends trying to all lose weight in their own way- one hires a trainer, one does weight watchers and one does WLS. They make a deal to lose weight once and for all! I really enjoyed it!

Book Club (Inspirational Weight Loss Fiction)

I really liked The Cinderella Pact. I'm now reading The Lighter Side of Large- downloaded from Amazon for $2.99. So far it's been good.

I just finished He Loves Lucy. Loved it. I just downloaded The Cinderella Pact... I've heard that one is good! Any other good recommendations out there?

How Long Does Vsg Operation Take?

With gallbladder removal it was about 1.5 hours. No complications- I believe my VSG only took about 45 minutes. It was the gallbladder that took the extra time.

    Protonix Or Alternative Ppi?

I'm 8 weeks out today and couldn't live without my protonix. Somedays I need 2 but not all the time.

    When Did You Feel Yourself?

I'm 33 years old- mom of 4 kids. ( 11,9,4,2). Honestly I felt great at about 8-10 days. I came home from the hospital and started walking every day, and I think that helped. The lifting was kind of a big deal since I have a 2 year old. I really was strict with myself and followed my guidelines post op.

    Dinner The Night Before

i was instructed to eat my pre op diet for 2 weeks. 2 shakes a day and 1 sensible meal. The day before surgery i was able to eat lunch (whatever I wanted) just nothing past 3pm.
  8. I lost 50 lbs in the 8 months before my surgery and it was the best thing I could have done! I had a huge head start and at 6 weeks out I'm down 91 lbs. I have 85 lbs more to go- but I'm so glad I made changes to make myself as healthy as I could before surgery.

    Relationship Changes?

Divorce rate is staggeringly high for weight loss patience. My therapist told me somewhere in the 80% range. However your chances of a successful marriage are higher if the person that had the surgery was thin when marrying their significant other. Makes sense. Seek counseling right from the get go- is my best advice! Good luck.

    Taste Change

I was really surprised after surgery because I thought my tastes would change drastically- but in my experience I have not had issues with this. I'm 6 weeks out and enjoy the same foods I did pre sleeve.

    Bougie Size

Guess what... I think I have the biggest Bougie size ever! You ready for this.... It's 46 French! I'm 6 weeks out and have amazing restriction- I feel very little hunger and can eat 2-3 oz comfortably at my meals. I was freaked out, but my dr. Convinced me it was all how snug the surgeon gets to the Bougie. I'm very happy with my size- and trusted his judgements. I hope it stays like this forever- but I know I'm not that lucky!

    Sliming Again?

I had sliming in the hospital like CRAZY. For me it was tasteless slimy like foam. It's truly disgusting! I still get it now and again after a meal but not nearly like in the hospital.

My eating plan excludes fruit for 1 year. It is VERY hard!

    Firestone- Unitedhealth Care.

All you need to do is call the # on your card and ask. Some companies cover the procedure but certain employers exclude all forms of bariatric surgery. You will want to call them and ask if they do cover bariatric surgery, and what you need to do to qualify. Make notes of who you talk too and what they say. Insurance can be tricky- but once you find out the info you need approval should be easy as long as you have your ducks in a row. Good luck!
  16. I've had PCOS for years. After 3. Years of not having a period 6 days PO- I had a period. Weight loss helps so much!!!

Will I Ever Be Able To Chug Water Again?

I also have a huge desire to chug! It's been so hard for me. I have a very hard time with clear liquids- but I can drink milk lots faster and I get no pain at all. If I take in too much waters it's about the only thing that still hurts my stomach. It's crazy!!!!

Pep Talk! Was It Worth It?

I was sleeved 8/17. It really was easier than I thought it could ever be. Keep up on your pain meds, follow dr's orders, and you will have an awesome chances of having a super easy surgery! Be calm and know you're making the best choice for YOU!

    Day 8 PO for me.

    To All Nervous Pre Opers

I also did very well. I do remember waking up in recovery saying "my tummy hurts, my tummy hurts!" they gave me some good drugs and that was that. I was also given a pain medicine button that I (or my husband) dilligently pushed every 15 minutes. This was KEY for me. I kept up on pain meds and it helped so much! I did get the hiccups ALOT afterwards. I think it irritated my sleeve and caused some excess swelling - but all in all I healed quickly and am feeling so much better now @ 10 days post op!

What Is Your Goal Weight ?!

My goal weight is 160. I'm 5' 2" and 33 years old. I'd like to be a size 10-12. I know it's on the high side- but that was the lowest weight I remember being in HS. Currently I'm 6 days pre op- weighing in at 270. My HW was 330 last August. I'm trying to lose another 10 lbs pre op- so I will have 100 lbs to go after surgery.
