Congratulations!! I'm excited for you! My surgery is set for January 7. I have my pre-op appointment December 19. I have Cigna and was pleasantly surprised that I got approved on the first time! I wish you the best on your journey!

OMG! I totally agree with everyone's posts on here. I see myself as "in shape" or not "too bad", until I see a picture of myself. I think that can't possibly be me. I don't look like that! But, I do. I have taken pictures of myself as my "before" pictures and I use them as reminders as to why I want this surgery (if I'm doubting myself). Once I see the pics, I'm horrified and disgusted with myself. I want to be healthy and can't wait to have a great picture of me, for ME!!!

Wow! All of you are amazing! Thank you so much for all you've said. I do know, deep down, this is right for me. I'm tired of "dieting" and not feeling comfortable within myself. I think this was a little hiccup along my journey I am so glad to have people like you on my side! This site is truly wonderful! Thank you again everyone!!

SO, I have my first info session next Friday and I'm now doubting this whole thing. Maybe I don't need to do this. Maybe I will succeed with another diet and exercise. I just don't know. I know I want to succeed but all these doubts keep flooding my head and I can't sleep! I haven't even begun the process and can't sleep lol! What will I be like when and if things progress? I've bought some sample Protein Drinks and some other things that people have mention on here but I just don't want to make a mistake. Advice? Anyone? Did anyone feel like this? Also, my father died at 47, not from weight related issues. I'm 44 and want to live alot longer!

I know they say no soda or carbonated drinks, but what's the reasoning behind caffeine? Just wondering.

I was originally told that with Cigna I would have to do 6month supervised diet but when I went in yesterday I was able to confirm that it had been changed to 3 months so it looks like my surgery will jump from December to September or October. This is really good news.
That is fantastic! Good luck!!

Hi,
This is off topic i know but i was born and raised in Nashua and i see your from Manchester. I had a ton of friends up there as well so i know my way around. I was curious where you are going for your surgery if you've picked a place yet? Good luck with the your insurance (i have Tufts so i cant input).
Hey Jenn, that's cool!! I'm going through Elliot Hospital and Dr.Gould at Dartmouth Hitchcock. You're only in Waltham so you aren't that far away.

You will have to have a separate appointment with your PCP after your 3 months for an evaluation and recommendation for surgery. Cigna requires a 2nd evaluation and medial clearance by someone other than your surgeon.
As far as copays and deductibles go- I have had very little charge thus far for anything. I paid a $15 co pay for my nut, I will pay 20% for my psyc eval (should be around $70)... My surgery/hospital stay is covered at 100%. My hospital requires a $500 aftercare program that is not billed through insurance at all... That I will have to pay up front before surgery. Hope this helps! Good luck!
Thank you so much for all the information! I really appreciate it Emily!

I think it sounds like she's coming from a place of caring for you, but not really understanding what you've been through and how much work goes into the whole process. I don't think either one of you are being jerks. Keep talking with her about your feelings and my guess is that she'll understand better (and I would probably say the same thing to her if she asked me).
And even if she doesn't understand the process exactly or your feelings, I'll bet she'll be there for you and by your side wherever you have the surgery and after you go through it, and that's a really good thing too
Thank you. I appreciate your talking to me

Wow, I thought I had a good support system in place for my WLS, evidently, I was mistaken I have my first info session tonight at one hospital. They have all my paperwork, referral, everything. Now, my partner finds out that the hospital she works for is a center of excellence and would be cheaper, she wants me to go through that one. I can't get into a session until August with that hospital. She says, "what's your hurry?" Really? My hurry is that this is a long process and I've already started. Maybe it's just me and I'm being a jerk. Advice anyone? Thank you.

Wow, thank you everyone for your responses. I will take the advice. ALL the advice!!

I am 3 months post-op and was wondering what everyone else is able to eat at one time. I can eat about a 1/2 cup of food at one time. What can you eat?
