If you have your own psychiatrist he can write a letter of approval to your surgeon like mine did. -

7 days postop to much protein?
footballmom replied to maya94115's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The Protein vials that I purchased were from Vitamin Shoppes. They are called "New Whey" liquid Protein. They are app. $2.99 each and are clear. They are 42 g of protein 0 sugar and 0 fat. The flavors that I have are fruit punch, orange, grape. Because they are syrupy and sweet I add it to my 64 oz of Water. You are supposed to have 60 - 80 g. of protein daily so this is perfect during the first stages of surgery when the Protein shakes are too thick. footballmom -
6 days post surgery
footballmom replied to skinnyjeans's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was banded on 3-5-07 and perhaps the Protein Drink is too thick. I have been on a clear Liquid Protein drink which tastes pretty good. - footballmom -
banded on 3-5-07 and my sholder is killing me!!!!
footballmom replied to addylynn7's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Banded on 3-5-07 also. I can certainly feel your pain. The pain in your shoulder is from gas. I was told to use Dulcolax suppositories which would help. I also used a heating pad on my shoulder which helped. I was also told to stay on clear liquids until all the gas passed. Today I will start my second phase of eating which will consist of cream soups, yogurt, skim plus milk and sugar free pudding and jello for 2 weeks. Hope this helps. If you are not on this kind of diet and need a copy I would be happy to share mine. Feel better. footballmom -

Having Surgery on 3/5/07
footballmom replied to footballmom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I don't know. Dr. says it depends on how I do in recovery. -
Danielle - I am 50 and going to be banded on 3/5 (Monday). I have been heavy all my life and felt like I was an embarrassment to all family and friends. I have 2 sons, 22 and 20, who play college football and who I adore. With all the activites and games that go along with the football season the activites were mindboggling. Thinking that my sons were embarrassed to have me come to their games was so depressing that even medicine couldn't help. You would think that a mom whose 2 sons weightlift and live on Protein shakes would know better. . . well, I didn't. My boys knew more than I did. DO NOT let this be your life and miss out on all the fun years with your children because you feel embarrassed. If you want the surgery, GO FOR IT, don't listen to anybody. The only person who knows I am having this done is my husband (who is thin). If anybody asks I will tell them that I had my gall bladder out and that will justify the change in eating habits. GOOD LUCK and reach for the stars . . . you are young enough to start your life over and meet that real nice guy who will let you be you.

Thanks to all of you who responded. This is my first time on a talk forum and it is well worth it. Knowing that there are people out there willing to listen to me feels terrific. It is so hard to talk to someone who hasn't had the surgery because all they do is ask questions that I have no answers for.
