I had surgery Nov 28, 2012. I have lost 82 lbs also. I would have lost more if for the past 3 months I didn't let the old habits back in. I am trying so very hard to get back on track. I still have very good restriction and I will get to goal. That being said it is 1 day at a time. But if I did not have the sleeve I would have gained back everything I have lost by now. I am lucky to have the sleeve and I am trying.

You have to be satisfied with where you end up, after all you are doing all the work. Have to also leave a few lbs leeway for when you get to maintenance. You are doing great and the main one to please is oneself.

What a trooper you are. Going back to work so soon. Make sure you drink and get your protein. Please take it easy. If you can work part hours for a couple weeks will help. -

Diabetis and the gastric sleeve
mokee replied to Debra Rodriguez's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am type II and had it for 15 yrs before surgery. Was on insulin for 2 yrs. still on insulin but a lot less plus metforin. The sooner you get the surgery the better. You are newly diagnosed and will have an excellent chance of going in remission. If I had it to do over I would have had the bypass many yrs ago before the sleeve was around. Any questions just PM me and best of luck. By the way diabetes is a real pain. This was the main reason I had the surgery. I read about so many getting off of medications. There is a diabetes forum here. Read those posts for more info. -
Are you diabetic? Might get that checked.

They were the first thing to go. Never before have I lost weight in my legs and butt but I sure have this time. Maybe because I am diabetic and my stomach, waist and middrift have not lost much here in comparasion. Hard to find pants that fit waist and are not baggy on legs. Sears had some capris that did fit perfect so I bought all colors.

Beautiful place you chose to go back to and you are a beautiful woman. Keep up the good work. -
where are all my fellow november 2012 sleevers? making any progress?
mokee replied to dizzneygirl's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I too am Nov, but I have not done as well as you two. I am down 81 lbs but am still losing. My legs are also very thin. The first time in my life. I don't know why that is where most of the weight has dropped off. I am older, 66, and have severe pain issues so I can not exercise or I would probably be to goal. You both are super stars. Let's keep in touch. -
I'm new to this...think I'm doing this right?
mokee replied to mlk's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
We are on the same journey. My surgery was 8 months ago also and I am down 80 lbs since preop. I am also struggling with my old ways. The chips, cookies, all call my name. But this will be a struggle the rest of my life. I know I am a slow loser but it continues to go down another lb today. You should be so proud that you have done so well without the support from this web site. The wonderful people have been my rock from before the surgery. I don't think I would have had surgery if it was not for them. Read and post everyday and you will help others and in turn help yourself. Please keep in touch and we can encourage each other along the way. -
I am 66 yrs old and 8 months out. I am not able to exercise but have lost 80 lbs, 70 percent of my excess body weight. I intend to get to goal. I am a slow loser but I will do it. Who said this to you, the shrink or dietician? If your procedure is done correctly and you follow the rules you can get to goal.

I don't know how you people go back to work so soon. You had MAJOR surgery. Give your body a break.

Hair Loss - Holy Moly!
mokee replied to ChristineR's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My only lasted about 2 months and then stopped. I agree with the above person about losing because of weight loss. I have had quite a few surgeries in my life time and this is the only time my hair fell out. -
How did you make appointments to see your wl surgeon?
mokee replied to ribearty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am given an appointment right after my appointment. -

Finishing Weight loss phase and heading into Maintenance
mokee replied to jar312's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congratulations! You should be so proud. I have read about maintenance and usually they just increase calories 100 at a time until they reach a point where they no longer lose. There are charts where you can figure out how many calories you should eat to maintain your weight. I am so happy for you. I hope I join you one day. -
I refused to take it. I think this is a money making scam. Everyone I know that has been diagnosed with this has a CPAP machine in their closet, never use it because they can't. I snored and probably had the so called disease but I have been thru many surgeries so why do it now. It seems that we go thru an awful lot of testing for this surgery compared to other surgeries where you just go and have the surgery and you are done. Maybe it's a way for the insurance to drag it out and they hope that you get tired of all the hoops and don't have the surgery. This is my opinion.

Our family is the same way. We eat to celebrate everything. My eldest sons birthday dinner was at our house last night. I made his favorite really fattening meal. I ate a little and was full. But I really enjoyed watching everyone eat and the conversation. We had such a good time. The only time it bothers me is when my husband and I go out and I don't eat very much, usually off of his plate or an appetizer as an entre, and I have to watch him eat for another 20 minutes. We have been married for 44 yrs so the conversation is minimal.

You look really great. Keep up the good work. I was sleeved Nov 28, 2012, so we are about the same time out from surgery. It is a lot harder to lose now than it was for me. I need to de-carb for a while to get back on track. I know we both want to end up to goal. Best of luck.

Drinking protein shakes do not make you full at all. It just helps to meet your grams of protein in a day. I am 8 months out and still supplement with liquid protein.

Needed new bathing suit that fit right after losing 80 lbs. have a big trip planned in a month. The thought of going to stores and trying on suits was not appealing. So went to Penney's web site and ordered 2 bottoms and 4 tops. Best decision ever. In the comfort of my own home tried them on and one of the bottoms fit perfectly and so did one of the tops. My boobs are even very well supported and pulled up where they belong. It is so cute. I will not be self conscious around the pool on this trip. I did the same thing with bras but that did not work out so well. Heading to the stores to return the suits and bras. Bought from places I could return to stores instead of mailing back.

You look great. We are at the same point. Just curios to know how much you have lost. What was your starting weight and what do you weigh now? I am only down 80 lbs in this 8 months. Not eating correctly anymore. Have to get back on track to get to my goal.

Throwing Away Old Weight Loss Journals
mokee replied to Greeknugget's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish I had one. At 8 months out I can not remember clearly the early days. I would like to know exactly what I had been eating and how much weight I lost each week. But all that time has passed and I truly regret. -
My resting heart rate used to be 110ish. They never could find out why. Now it is in 70-80's. quite an improvement for an old broad.

Usually works the other way around for me.
