Almost 7 months post op
mokee replied to skinnygirlinside's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I also had my thyroid removed. Please go to an endocrinologist. My PCP had my meds all messed up for a yr. Finally I went to an endo and she put me on an amount and I stayed there. I have only decreased meds once even though I lost 82 lbs. Best of luck. -
I had it constantly for 4 months postop until they did blood work and found out I was anemic. Once I got my iron up it did not happen anymore.

If so how are you doing? I have extreme pain in my neck that is chronic and when I exercise it gets a lot worse. Even walking is so painful in my neck and head. Does not sound like that should effect me but it does. Has anyone that can not exercise found something they can do to tighten up all this loose skin? I look like a sharpei dog. But still glad to be rid of 82 lbs.

Why in the world did they cut you open? With your mobility issues you would have thought they would be very careful. How thoughtless!

Just feels awesome. I had not been under 200 for over 44 yrs.

when you stopped your PPI
mokee replied to Momonanomo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 9 months out and have tried on my own BTW to stop my PPI but when I do I have terrible acid reflux. I had to sign a paper before surgery that I would probably have acid reflux. Did not have it before. I will continue to try to stop periodically but at this point it looks like I may be on PPI rest of life. -
Hypothyroidism. Anyone struggle post op?
mokee replied to Tawnie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please go to an endocrinologist for the thyroid. The first yr my thyroid was out my primary care said she could handle the follow up. She is a very intelligent woman but not about the thyroid. Every time I went in she changed my meds. Finally I went to a endo and she said I was not high like my dr said. Endo put me on a dose and I stayed there until this surgery and then it went down a little. Has not been fluctuating like you all say. -
First time I heard of the sleeve causing gout and I have done a lot of research in the past 2 yrs. my husband has gout. If you are put on the right medications you will be fine. It is caused from high uric acid. He was told no alcohol or organ meats. He is not a drinker so that is not a problem. Did you dr say it was related to the surgery?

The pain is a very distant memory for me but I do remember that it was very bad that first week. It got better daily. Take the pain meds, that is what they are for. After the first month you will be truly on your way. Best of luck to you.

What do i pack for the hospital?
mokee replied to alchaley's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not use anything I brought. Just yourself. You are so out of it you need nothing including a bathrobe. I used another hospital gown backwards when I walked. Best of luck. -
Just made goal at 7 months
mokee replied to ebonisekim's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You look fantastic. Go for whatever goal makes you comfortable. -
I have a hard time too. I went to find some underwear since I have not bought any since weight loss and have to roll them over a bunch. I wore a 5X. Went to dillards and the girl said you wear an X-large. I held it up and said are you sure, this is so small. I took home and sure enough fit like a glove. I still hold up clothes I get out of the closet and think I'm not going to get into that and slide right in. When does this go away?

Take a deep breath. Don't think about the procedure itself. Just think about the weight you will loose in the next few months. You are so young and pretty. Think about all the things you are doing this for. You must have many reasons. Best of luck and keep in touch with us all.

3 months post op with pics
mokee replied to Lawrence Washington's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kep up the good work. You are very handsome. -
Your not on thyroid medicine are you? Too much can cause this along with a fast pulse.
-
According to your profile you have lost 40 lbs in 6 months. Have you ever lost this much weight before? You are half way to your goal. Keep up the good work.

I started eating salad at 6 weeks out. But even to today, 9 months out, I only eat a few bites usually of my husbands salad. Never tried to eat a whole bowl myself. I used to live salad also.
-
I finally tried diet coke but at the time I was 6 months out. I now have one occasionally maybe average once a week. The only bad part is all the gas and belching it causes. I believe that moderation in all things is the key to life. If I had followed that my whole life I would never have needed this surgery. Since it is so early for you I would stay away.

Staples? 7 incisions? 5 incisions and no staples just tape.
