You are amazing!!! Please tell me your story. I see you are close to my age. Did you have a lot of health problems that you decided to have the sleeve? I am having a hard time deciding if this is for me. I have many health problems and at my age it is scary. I will not get better if I don't do something,

I'm in the same boat as you. I just visited the surgeon 2 weeks ago and have been reading and reading. I went to one of the support meetings the weight loss dr puts on and met a couple of people that were very happy that they did it. I plan on going to as many of those as I can in the next 3 months (that's how long I have till insurance approves it). Best of luck.

Please let us know if it was that easy for you. What state are you in? I'm in Ohio. If this is true I could have what I need done this month and be on my way. That would be nice not to have to wait till the end of the year.

I'm a retired federal employee with Anthem B/C B/S. I need all of the above and 4 visits with a nutritionist. It will take 3-4 months. I just started the process 2 weeks ago. It puts me into right after Thanksgiving. Bummer. Would rather have it right now. Let me know if this really happens. Moke

I am 65 and started my journey to have the sleeve. The office I went said that the oldest patient they have had was 78. Other seminars I went to before chosing a doctor said that 65 was the limit. I hope you try to understand her. It is not good to get old. I bet deep down she envies you and wishes she could do the same thing you are. Best of luck to you on your journey.

Just Approved! And Scared As Hell ....
mokee replied to wanttobeamoore's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please don't let this scare you. You are young and you see what your mother is going through every day of her life. My mother was very obese and in a wheel chair for over 10 years. When I was young I became very obese and really missed a huge portion of my life because of it. I am 65 now with all the health problems including insulin dependent diabetes. I am going to go through with it and I am also very scared because of my age. But if this had been available to me years ago I would have hoped I had gone for it. Maybe a lot of things would have been different. I still have to hope this will give me a better quality of life. Mokee -
All medicare persons waiting. I'm in Ohio. Talked with my doctors insurance person this morning. He did receive the info from Medicare but it is not a cut and dry thing. He said It is still a state by state determination on a one on one basis. He said after my surgery he will submit to medicare with the determination and hope for the best. He said they can not submit until after the surgery so you don't know if they are going to pay or not. With the O'Bama medical thing passing the first step, we had better hope we all get our surgery before that takes over and we wait in line for years for every procedure we need. Best of luck to all of you waiting and I hope if anyone hears anything different please post the news. Thanks

I'm also in ohio and just talked to 3 different people in the Medicare office. No one knows anything. I have other insurance that will cover it but Medicare comes first. I can not even get a denial letter from Medicare which is what I need for the other insurance. The surgery has to be over for them to deny it. And then since I could not get a denial the other insurance may not pay because I couldn't get a pre cert. I can't be stuck with such a bill.

Byetta? Has Anyone Used It?
mokee replied to I am done mooing!'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will lose weight I promise but it will be slow. Pretty soon you will not be hungry. I used to take it before dinner and could only take a few bites and I was full. It was almost like they explain the feeling of stomach surgery. -

Byetta? Has Anyone Used It?

I used Byetta for 1 1/2 years for my diabetes and the weight loss came along with it. For me as time went on I got severely nauseated to the extent I had to stop. I was told this was not the norm. I lost 40 lb. My husband takes it now and in the past couple years has shed 85 lb and holding, Definitly if you are diabetic take it. Its a lot better than being on insulin,
