Worried About My Preop Appointment Tomorrow
mokee replied to Nina88's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can count on my prayers!!!!!!!!!! -
What happened that they thought your liver was was larger than normal? You have not seen the surgeon yet! Who examined your stomach to determine this? Do you drink alcohol a lot? Just curious. This is one the few things I did not have to go through yet.

God bless both of you and may you have minimal pain and a swift recovery.

Hi Sounds like you are close to my age. I am 65, Type 2 diabetic, on 4 shots of insulin a day plus pills, plus all the other medical issues. If this can help with all my health issues than I am going for it. It seems there are not many of us that are older. I wish I had done something years ago but I can not look back. I have to take the plunge and hope to better the life I have left. Please keep in contact and share any of your health info with me. Thank you, Mokee

Praying The Sleeve Helps With Diabetes...
mokee replied to scaredoftheunknown's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also type 2 and am on huge amounts of insulin and pills. I am going to have this to do away with the insulin, I feel like a human pin cushion. I hear that it has helped many get off of insulin and also some that it just improved. Since you are not even on medicine and your A1C is 6.5 you should have it in remission in no time. Best of luck and let me know how it worked for you. I am not going to have surgery till sometime in October if everything keeps going well. -
I'm not a dancer right now but I will try. I bet you look great and what a great experience. Trying on clothes in a smaller size, can't wait till that happens to me.

You have done great so far. Stick in there and it will happen. We all are on your side.

I Swear To God I Could Choke My Husband Right Now!
mokee replied to reneeclark1276's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank God he cares enough to help you. It could be the stress your body is in that made you blow, after all the spouse is the closest person in our lives and we tend as women to take a lot of our emotions out on them, I know I do. Mine doesn't even ask me anything about the upcoming surgery at all. I think he thinks if he doesn't mention it it will go away and I won't have it. -
Went to support meeting last night. Nutritionalist lady said please don't start treating yourself until you reach goal. Maybe a bite here or there. It is easy to get back unto your old ways and overeat. Not heard of anyone saying they have stretched their sleeve. Just a thought maybe you should see a physcologist and try to work on this eating thing. I know you want success and we all want it for you.

I used to use gym shoes. Maybe you don't have enough support bare foot ( I assumed you were bare foot from your comment about slippers).

Need Help Managing Major Back And Postoperative Pain
mokee replied to Newbie girl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I don't think you are a baby. I also have and have had seveere back and neck pain. Sometimes no pain meds help at all. It seems so bad when you have no way to get out of it. Hang in there and rest and sometimes it gets tolerable. Good luck and I will say a prayer for you. -
Happy Birthday and congratultions all at the same time. Very happy for you.

Just When Things Start Looking Up....
mokee commented on Spatters3's blog entry in shouldn't I have a theme song ?
My husband had stage 4 bladder cancer. It went to his lymph nodes and he was put thru much chemo. He slept a lot He took the medicine that keeps you from getting sick(vomit). This went on for 6 months and he has been cancer free for 6 years. Do what they say, eat no time to diet (he was 100 lbs overweight and nobody knew how sick he was). I cooked everything for him in cast iron with a tomato in it to leach the iron out of the pot. Not the tastiest but it helped to keep his blood counts up. He did not loose his hair. Everyone doesn't. You don't believe them at first, then you get very angry, then you accept it and fight like he*#$. Best of luck and you are in my prayers. -
Welcome. You can learn alot on this site. Everyone is friendly and will help you with any questions. I also am waiting for surgery. Good Luck

Feeling Down, Obsessing Myself To Crazy Town
mokee replied to SlowLossingGal's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Look how far you have come. You can do anything you put your mind to. Best of luck. All your friends here want you to succeed. -
Best of luck Lila.. I too am waiting. I have my second appointment the same day you have your first. I have been through a lot of the before tests. the only thing I have left is the heart doctor (wanted to wait closer to surgery for that). It has been kind of a whirlwind trying to get it all done. Many tests and doctors visits, Now I found out that my PCD is leaving practice and now I must find a new one. Something else to consume my time finding a good Dr, It took 2 months to find the doctor for the sleeve surgery. Went to many meetings and researched for hours and finally found an experienced one on the sleeve. My insurance makes you wait 90 days from the first appointment which puts me at the end of september. Then the dr office said 2-4 weeks after that. Hope it is sooner and not later. Getting too close to the holidays. Best of luck to you and keep us infomed.

I finally quit 12 years ago after being a smoker for 35 years. I had tried so many times. The last time I said I quit and told my husband don't ask me to buy you cigarettes or carry them in my purse for you ever. Every time I wanted a cig ( and that was many times a day) I took a deep breath and told myself I never want to go through this again. I am smart enough to know that if I ever take one puff I will be hooked again. You can do it One Hour at a Time. Good Luck

Thanks alot. Printed it off to read often. -
I;m in the same boat but pre op. I know I wil not get any support. My husband is already complaining about what are we going to do when we go out to eat. I know if I prepare food at home he will not want to eat low calorie food so I guess I will just worry about me for a change. You will not fail because we are all here for you. You can come and vent 24 hours a day 7 days a week. You may not get replies instantly but you will get replies. You can make it thru this I know you can.
