    Moved On Up....

Good for you, you hardly had time to think about it or worry about it. Most of us started back in May or June and are not having surgery till Nov. All those test you talked about were stretched out over a few months. And now the anticipation, worry, should I still do it. See we have too much time to think. You are a very lucky girl. Best of luck on your speedy recovery.

I'm the same day also. It seems unbelievable and scary at the same time. Wish you best of luck.
  14. Hi everyone, Just went to my surgeon to sign the papers and was given a bunch of papers about what to do 2 weeks before surgery and then after. Bought the bariatric Vitamins and shakes for pre-op. I have been on this web site for over 4 months faithfully reading all the posts and comments. I thought I knew what I was getting into but now I am not sure. I am really confused. It seems I will be eating and drinking all day long the first 2 weeks after surgery. Then heaven only knows. My husband is against this and said yesterday "Are you sure you want to do this?". Now I don't know. Since I left the doctors office I have done nothing but eat. Please help me.

    Third Month Finished

Here it is the end of month 3. Never thought I would make it this far. Next week I see the surgeon for the 3rd time and he will tell me if I have passed all the tests and can get submitted to insurance. I waited till the last week to do the heart doctor who because of my age and not able to exercise very well wanted a stress test. I did it and passed. I am glad they did not find anything wrong with my heart. I went to the psycologist for quite a few visits and I think I had enough of that. She was very nice but I still don't know why I use food as a comfort. I have been to 4 support group meetings, went to lung doctor and he said I had a touch of asema. My PCD went on to greener fields and I had to get a new PCD. That was not easy for me after many years. I guess I like him as well as any. It is hard to find a good doctor that you can get along with. One week in this 3rd month I had 4 doctor appointments in one week. I changed endo doctors also in month 2. I pray that I am making the right decision to have this surgery. I know the life I have now is not good. I want a better life. I want to be able to be off of insulin and putting holes all over my body. I am tired of testing and taking insulin. I blame myself for getting diabetes but they tell me it is not my fault. I have been overweight almost all of my life, even as a child. As soon as I started kindergarden I ballooned up to obese and was that way until the 8th grade when I starved myself for 4 months and lost 40 lbs so I could get a dress for graduation. I wanted so to look like the other girls. I managed to lose another 20 lbs over the next 4 years and stayed there with 10 lbs up or down. Then I got married to someone who was overweight and immediately started to gain. I also got pregnant and gained back the 60 lbs which I never could lose. Over the rest of my life I gained another 70lbs and because of the insulin and the pain I have to keep me seditary it will probably continue to rise. Well this is my weight story. Sorry if I bored you all, but you all mean so much to me. I read every post and blog. I feel your pain and also get joy from your accomplishments. I think we are like a family here. Too all the ones that are doing this at a young age I say GOOD FOR YOU. It is a good idea to get your life back as soon as possible. I have missed so much over all the years because of weight. Best of luck to everyone. I will let you know what the outcome is with the doctor next month. I hope it is good news.

    I Need A Friend.

I too need friends. I have a date for surgery Nov 28. After 5 months it is getting close. I have no support in my life. My husband just ignores the subject and the only thing he said was what about me. What am I going to eat? I think he hopes I just don't do it. I have been a recluse for awhile so not many friends left. My sons are around but then again they are sons. I have serious medical issues and that is why I am having the surgery in hopes of getting my life back. Hope you get a date soon and best of luck.

Wow When Things Go Wrong, They Really Go Wrong!

Every time I see one of your posts I see your smiling face and remember how excited you were to get this surgery. I am so sorry for all the pain and agony you had to go through. Now hopefully everything will go well and you will lose the weight and all this will be a distant memory.

    7 Days To Go

I already had my date of Nov 28 but then just a few minutes ago got an e-mail with the time of surgery 9:30, somehow that made it so real. Says it will take 70 min. (too real). Yours is only one week away. Did you have do a pre-op diet? Best of luck and keep us informed on how you are doing.

Week 29 (And The Vitamix Debate)

I have a vitamix from years ago. It doesnot really juice which is what I bought it for at the time. I since have bought a NINJA also and it is so much easier to use and much easier to clean. It is also 1/5 the cost.
  24. I also am scheduled for surgery Nov 28, 2 days after my 66 birthday and 1 week after Thanksgiving. So I called all my immediate family and scheduled a Thanks giving at my house on Nov 11, before my liquid diet starts on the 14. Most of the time they have to come over for awhile and then go to other family members houses, now I selfishly will have them for the whole day yah! yah! I am trying to make this into a positive thing to get me through the holidays. Maybe by Christmas I will be able to eat some blended turkey and gravy. Also will be well enough to leave for a warmer climate which is what my husband (who is totally against this surgery) wants to do. Good luck to all of us doing this at a very hard time of the year.
