  1. Same here. Lost 15 pre-op and gained 6 after surgery. My stomach looked like a mountain range from all the swolling and the water and gases from surgery. My feet legs and ankles were swollen also. After 6 days I lost the 6 I gained and at 3 weeks out I am down 31 and am in a stall. That is how it worked for me.
  2. I had surgery 3 weeks ago. Two days after my own birthday and one week after my son's birthday. My granddaughter's birthday was Dec 4. Thanksgiving was in there (the pre-op diet). I went to my granddaughters dinner and we had it at Bob Evans (she wanted me to cook her a meal). Not this year sweet pea. I sat there 5 days after surgery sipping ice Water while everyone ate dumplings, pancakes smothered in whipped cream, chicken fried steak smothered in gravy. You get the picture. Then for her birthday cake a whole coca cola cake and everyone said it tasted like a brownie my fave. Needless to say that was the last holiday party I have attended. I'm still not all the way well and just don't want to go through that again. I did make one decesion correctly. I had our family Thanksgiving before the pre-op diet and that was 2 weeks before Thanksgiving so I did not miss that family day. I think everyone was glad because the majority went out shopping on Thanksgiving. I am having Christmas Eve and there will be 12 of us and I am making a amount of food that I can enjoy. It will be great. It's almost here.
  3. I measure a cup in a glass and when that is gone I do another. I put little stick figures on a piece of paper where I keep track of my calories and protein.

    Pureed Foods

Anything can be pureed. Tuna with pickle juice and a little low fat mayo. Lean Hamburger with tomato sauce. Anything at all that you can blend into a mush.

    Overwhelmed and Frustrated

I am 3 weeks out and I have been getting the food coming up in my throat after I eat. I started omneprazole I had at the house and called the dr. He is orderring the kind he wants me to take. I had hoped this would not happen to me but maybe it will be a short lived thing. I also started eating pickle chips. Mainly i suck on them and then eat the inside of it. They tasted so good. Wonder if this is bad?

    Medicare insurance

I'm in Ohio and Medicare passed the issue to allow the sleeve in June of this year. I go to a Center of Excellence and was assured that Medicare paid for the sleeve by the doctors person who takes care of the insurance. I had surgery 3 weeks ago and never signed anything that I had to pay. I'm assuming that they paid. Will let you all know if they did not. By the way I am from Cinti, Ohio and go to Dr Northup, excellent doctor.

    January 22 is the Day!

I pigged out the whole month before pre-op. Now I am 3 weeks out and down 31 lbs. I don't regret doing it. It was just one of those mental things. I have to have this and that one more time. We both know we are foodaholics and in my case carbaholic. We will have to deal with this the rest of our lives.
  9. Sleeved on Nov 28. With the holidays I had 3 family birthdays and the one I attended there was a coca cola cake that everyone said tasted like a brownie. I was only 4 days out so I sat there with a glass of Water. It has been so rough. But Xmas eve I can make cheese balls the way I can eat them. shredded lunch meats, deviled eggs, a handful of crackers. Sounds so good. As I told a friend, as everyone puts on 5 lbs over the holidays I have lost 31. How many people can say that. Next year is another time and we will have a new body to dress for the holidays.

    Best Protein Powder EVER!

Any of the old timers: is this the kind of protein we can have. Looked it up on line and I don't think it is the whey isolate. But then again maybe I just didn't find it.

    Best Protein Powder EVER!

You mean that awful protein taste is not there? I can hardly stomach any of these shakes anymore. Even the so called unflavored is awful.
  12. I have had 3 spine surgeries in my life so I know the pain. This pain is nothing like that. There was pain don't get me wrong but not that kind of pain.

    anyone with bcbs nj?

I had bcbs in Ohio and I had to do 3 months of nutrition visits. That is probably what you mean.
  14. mokee

    Yeah 4 days.

Everything will be OK. I told the anethesiolist, Your main job is to make sure I wake up. She said I have to make sure you wake up because there is too much paper work otherwise. We all, about 12 people in the OR with me, had a good laugh and then I was out. I always like to laugh before I am put out. That way it doesn't freak me out so bad. Try it, you won't be so scared.
  15. Look at it however you want. Now is the time to learn all your new eating habits and drinking habits. This is a full time job for awhile. I am almost 3 weeks post op and it is still a challenge. Keep up the good work and best of luck.

    Date Set for Jamuary 2nd!

You were very lucky such a short wait. It was 9 months from beginning to end for me but now i am almost 3 weeks out and on my way. Best of luck to you and stay in touch. This is a good site with a lot of useful info.
  17. I also had many food funerals before the liquid diet but I have not cheated on the liquid diet or after.
  18. You have lost 100 lbs in 5 months. That is amazing. Just keep following what you are doing.

    scared...

For the first 3 weeks you will have to keep track of your liquids, protein, and I do calories but not necessary because I've only been over 400 1 day.
  20. Your right on that is what it is.
  21. So glad to hear that you are doing well and are home. That bad pain on the right side finally went away for me 4 days post op. Then it is a full time job just getting in all the Protein and liquids. Please drink as much as possible. It was very hard for me but now I am 2 weeks out and can drink almost like I did before surgery. Protein is another thing for me. Having a hard time with that. I barely get 300 calories a day and a little shy of 60 protein. Getting in over 48 oz of Water. On the plus side I am down 29 lbs since pre-op diet. You will do just great. You are a male and that is another thing on your side. Best of luck.
  22. You are doing great. I am 2 weeks out and I am just getting in most everything but a little short on protein. I was not able to get things in that well until 9 days after surgery.

    Post sleever today

four days tops. Then you will be wondering how am I going to drink and eat enough. I am 2 weeks post-op and still can only get in 3-400 cal a day. Unbeliveable isn't it. That was the amount that I ate at a fast food sandwich and then added the fries. I have lost 27 lbs already so it will get better keep your eye on the weight falling off.

I feel like such a failure

Are you sure it is stretched or are you eating incorrectly? I would go back to the basics and start over. Are you drinking enough water? I didn't think the sleeve could stretch. I was told they cut out the stretchy part. Maybe others had some thoughts on this.
