I was on it over thanksgiving so right now will not be so bad. I was newly sleeved thru Xmas and New Years. You can do this, many of us did and most are carboholics. Good luck.

Sleevers who are at goal: Do you eat other things besides Protein? I am six weeks out and eat mostly protein. I am losing slowly. I hope one day I can eat a meal with meat, veg, and starch. Does this happen at goal? All the research I did on the sleeve before I had it and still did not realize it was the Atkins diet but with a lot less food. I think when I go to the dr this week I will be released to all food. I want a salad, a piece of apple not in that order. Any advise?

Same happened to me. Was not on a PPI until about 2 weeks post op and I started to get heartburn. Kind of expected it. Even had to sign a paper at the surgeons office before surgery, that. Good chance of heartburn. Maybe you are not taking enough. Call your surgeon for advice.

I was 66 when I had the surgery. How can Medicare be so different from state to state. I do know one thing that my surgeon did do one thing and contacted Medicare and got it thru somehow in 2 months after they passed the bill that they were paying. If you are going by what customer service at Medicare tells you, they do not know. When I called customer service they never heard of the sleeve. Have your surgeons office call my surgeon and find out how he did it. It would mean a lot more patients for him.

Anyone use a Bariatric diners card?
mokee replied to Brookstein's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was given mine with the papers that I was sent home with at the hospital. I have never used it. My husband and I usually share or I order an appetizer. Most children's meals are not what I would eat. We did go to one place and they had a buffet and my husband would have loved to eat it but they would let me order a child's meal but not the child's buffet. I could have only ate a piece of meat but I just got angry and left. As I think about it now, I guess someone could print a card off the Internet and eat like crazy. -

I increased my calories to 800 to 1000 and it seems this cold thing does not happen as often. About once a week it happens and I bundle up like you and turn the heating blanket on high and wait it out, usually a couple of hours. Once I get warm I turn blanket off and usually take off the really warm clothes. This is my experience. -
Not likely a leak at six months out.

Question about sleep apnea
mokee replied to Michelle1977's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I refused to even do the test. I think it is a bunch of bull. Everyone I know that takes the test is told they have sleep apnea. Then they buy a machine or their insurance pays for it. Then they use it a few times and in the closet it goes. What a waste of insurance money or your own. I told my surgeon that I would not take the test. I also told the pulmonary dr the same thing and here I am 7 weeks postop. I guess it was not that important. -

Where did you get the pro fast oatmeal? -
The breathing machine they sent home with you, can you suck the ball up. You may have puemonia. Not normal for lungs to hurt. Call dr if this continues.

I really need help/orientation
mokee replied to paulaleiva13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please think this over, it is not too late to back out. I am 66 with many health issues. I had this surgery for. My health. I wanted it, no one else wanted it for me. It changes your life more than you can imagine. I am 7weeks out and still can only eat 3-4 oz at a time and usually only twice a day. That is a half cup. Put a half cup on a plate so you can see how much this is. I am only telling you this because you need to want this for yourself. Did you see a therapist? Did you discuss this with them? Best of luck and may god bless you. -

You look like your daughter. Fantastic! Keep up the good work. -
It happens to all of us. At 3 weeks I stalled for 2 weeks and than lost 4 lbs. then I was stalled for another week and just lost 2. I guess for me this is going to be a trend.

It only took 4 days till the pulling pain in the main incision was gone. Call your dr.

Smoking effects your healing that is why they tell you to quit. I would not smoke too much in the next 3months until you are pretty sure you are healed.
