I am.66 and have the same problem. I was on 150 units of insulin, I took 4 times a day plus 2000 metforin. Now on same metforin but down to 30 units of insulin. I am 4 1/2 months out and down 63 lbs. stopped the cholesterol medicine and will check numbers in 2 months. Did the surgery mainly to get off of insulin and endo says it may still work as more weight comes off. I have not exercised yet due to pain. I need to find some kind of exercise I can do. How many months out are you? Are you on insulin? Do you exercise? Keep in touch, not many of us older ones.

Gastric Sleeve Surgery - What My Doc Told Me to Expect
mokee commented on joatsaint's blog entry in Gastric Sleeve Surgery - An Unexpected Journey
Joatsaint, are you just having surgery or according to your stats you had it in December. Are you male or female? I am just full of questions. Best of luck either way. -
I hate to tell you but I am 4 1/2 months out and still have the runs daily. Every once in awhile I have regular movement. I go once or twice a day. For me it is usually after I eat when I start to drink about an hour after. I also carry change of clothes in my car and a towel and wash cloth. I've had some bad experiences when in the car. It is like out of the blue it comes on. Sugar has nothing to do with it in my case. Before Breakfast this morning I had the runs after drinking 3 cups Water. Then I ate 1/2 apple with Peanut Butter and went 3 more times, but I am home and it is not a problem. I need to bring this up to the doctor. I have not been able to associate it with any certain food.

Do you have the sleeve? I have never dumped. I feel real full if I eat too much. Sugar does not bother me at all, I wish it did a little bit. Usually the RNY are the people that dump. We may feel sick when we over eat or eat too fast and it goes away in a couple hours.

I had surgery 2 days after my 66th birthday. At the time I did not realize what a gift I was given, but I do now. Enjoy the whole experience, it is quite a ride.

Please see a psychologist and work on your issues before you have this surgery. The new way of life after surgery is a challenge by it self without all your negative behaviors resurfacing. Best of luck.

lunch meat and cheese wrapped like a sandwich. Tuna with a little mayo and the juice from sweet pickles. Use canned chicken in the same way. Have these thing prepared so you can grab out of friz. Also can freeze serving sizes to grab and thaw. What about shrimp seasoned the way you like it? Look at all the recipes on egg face, ricotta bake, scrambles eggs, the list is endless. Best of luck and enjoy the journey. Accept what is done and learn to live with it.

You are so young and so smart to have this done at your age. I am 66 and 4months out. I have lost 63 lbs that will never come back. I will be at goal when I loose the last 45 lbs coming soon. I have not been this low for 43 yrs. all the things I have missed in my life for all those years you will have it all. It will be rough for a few weeks but time flies and before you know it you look in the mirror and see a thinner you. And if you have any medical issues they will improve also. Best of luck to you and enjoy every moment of the journey.

I like the punch. I wish I had known about this at the beginning. So much better than all those powder protein that I tried.

Hormones are raging during the fast weight loss. It will get better.

I was released to eat whatever I wanted by 6 weeks post op.

I also lost weight in legs first and in butt. The last to go is my stomach. I thought it was because I am diabetic. Are you both diabetic?
-
We all had these thoughts but please don't worry. I am 66 and down 63 lbs. take this experience and run with it. There has never been a time that you will lose so much weight and see such a difference so quickly. Savor every moment so that when you are thin you can remember what you went thru. Best of luck and DO NOT WORRY!

I wish I could just get it over with!
mokee replied to Melissa1234's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a journey that needs to be appreciated. Take your time, don't worry and do some things you need to do pre op. I was so busy with all the different tests I had to endure. I was 66 years old so I should have been scared. But I kept reading this site and one other and it kept me going. Without all the kind people here I would never have had the surgery. Keep reading and just think how much weight you are going to lose. I am down 63 lbs and could never have done this. My weight is lower than it has been in 40 years. Best of luck and please don't worry. It will be an experience like no other you have ever had. -
week long STALLLLLLLL! any advice?
mokee replied to skinnywithin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Increase your carbs. I had surgery the same time as you but was much heavier. I also have diabetes and am on insulin. I eat 100 or less of carbs. This will break your stall. -
How much weight have you lost with sleeve?

When I woke in recovery I was in excruciating pain. I begged for something but whatever that person gave me it did not work. I had no gas pain. It was stomach pain and bad pain inthe incision on the right. I was later told it took him an extra 15 min to get thru some really old scar tissue. This pain lasted at least a week getting better daily. All surgeries have pain, some more than others. The worst I ever had was back surgery and the least was a total hysterectomy which she cut me from one side to the other but a bikini cut and I could get up with ease and I weighed 250 at the time.

Would be interested to hear what others have to say about this.

Luck coming your way and prayers too.

I am 66, I really feel like this. I wish I had done WLS 30 years ago. But you are. Still so young. Life expectancy is 80 or maybe more by the time you get there. You have so many years that will be healthy. Enjoy the experience and don't worry about what you tell other people. They won't remember anyway. Best of luck.

Worries about my surgery and life changes that need to be made.
mokee commented on lyndeeboo's blog entry in My story
You said they told you we can not digest meat. That is the majority of the food I eat. I never heard this. As far as steak, I enjoy it just not a lot at a time. You need to read more posts to see what people are going thru and the kinds of food they eat. Maybe your nutritionalist is a vegetarian and does not want others to enjoy meat. -
eating too much? starting to get obsessive...
mokee replied to allybenavides's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Calories are too low. I also am 4 months out and eat 1000 cal day. Nutritionalist wants me to up ton1200 . I don't do this on a daily basis but sometimes I eat 1400-1600 so I guess it all balances out. I am still losing 1-2 lbs a week. I do not exercise because of pain. I am also older, 66. -
We're the bottoms of your feet that fat LOL?

I notice how many of you suffer with these headaches. I am not one thankfully but my DIL suffers terribly . She went to a new nurologist a few weeks ago. Did MRI and was clear, thank God. But he took her off of all chocolate and colas. She did it and headaches gone. When she does indulge she suffers so she has not done that often. Such a simple thing for her. I hope this can help some of you.
