    unexpected doubt - NSV

If you are not totally sure postpone the surgery. There is no going back after your stomach is cut out. You have to be very sure.
  2. Not had this issue at all. I have movement once or twice a day. It is loose though most of the time. Is any one else having loose stool?

    Cauliflower Tots

What in the world is cauliflower rice?
  4. You have to make the final decision. Has your surgeon done many sleeves? Since most of the people in support are RNY, I would research this. Also read read and read. Read posts about all the pros and cons of both surgeries. Make a list of these and decide what is best for you. But again if your surgeon has not done many sleeves, maybe he tends to push RNY.

    expectations

You went thru a lot. I had no complications and felt awful and in terrible pain for the first week. It slowly got better over time and I am almost 5 months out now. Major surgery, takes time to recover.
  6. Lucky to have a very understanding and supporting husband. Count your blessings. Mine just said to me last night that he was very scared about my surgery. Afraid he would lose me. It has been 5 months ago and he says this now. Best of luck to you.

    Silly question really

Oh yes you will be cold. I have only lost 63 lb and I am cold most of the time. I wear heavy robe to bed now where before I wore nothing. Sweating is a thing of the past for me.
  10. Oh sweetie, I am old enough to be your mother and I know they only mean well. Please tell them how there comments are hurting you, they do not realize. Tell them for you to be successful they must not watch every bite you take. I hope you are having this surgery for yourself and not them. This is a life changing decision. So whatever is bothering you, make a list, sit them down and go over it. At least it will be all out in the open and maybe they will change their comments. Best of luck. Show them this post to get started.
  11. Are you eating greasy foods?
  12. I just started using frutis fall fight shampoo and conditioner. So far less strands in my comb. I sure hope this works. It has biotin in it and the bariatric vitamins have 150 per cent of biotin everyday. The vitamins were not working but this shampoo seems to be. Will let everyone know after a few weeks.
  13. I lost 15 on pre op liquid diet but I did not cheat at all during this two weeks. I had a lot of food funerals before that and did not lose a lb.
  14. 3 nutritional visits take 3 months. During this 3 months you will be put thru many tests and I mean many. Then when you get approved thru insurance it is up to how busy your surgeon is. I started June 28 and finally had surgery Nov 28. 5 months.
  15. I called my nutritionalist yesterday about the blood work I had 2 weeks ago. She apparently had not looked at it before and got it out and said everything looked OK. I said are you sure? Then she said oh your Iron is low. Told me some kind of iron pill to take. I already take 3 bariactric Vitamins that have 3 times the daily amount. Then I did some research and got out my cast iron skillet and sauce pan. I needed these when my husband went thru chemo and I researched to help keep his iron levels up. Has anyone else had low iron levels and what did you do? I will eat high iron foods and use the pans and test again in a couple months. Any suggestions appreciated.
  16. I take omniprazle, not spelled right but you get the picture. He started me on 40 mg ans I had him reduce it to 20. It works great. Must take it at least an hour before eating. I usually take it in the early morning really early when I get up to use the bathroom maybe 4 or 5 am.
  17. My goodness the loss has taken years off your appearance. Adahlia, you look at least 20 years younger. Karen, you are just beautiful. I surely hope I can do as well.
  18. Yesterday I decided to go shopping. I have bought a few things that fit me but you can count them on one hand. I brought home a bag full, things were on sale and a good price. I hate to try on in store so I bring it home. Usually most of it goes back. I bought all XL. I wore a 24 5 months ago and can not remember when I ever and I mean ever wore an XL. I tried them all on and they all fit wonderfully. I couldn't believe how little I looked. Then I did the unthinkable. I took everything that was in my cupboard and folded it up for the thrift store. Today I took it there. All my big clothes are gone. I have hardly anything in my closet clothes wise but I have enough until I lose another 45 lbs and the XL are all baggy. What an NSV this was for me.
  19. My the way has anyone noticed how clothes are getting bigger and they put a small size on them. When I weighed 140 lb I wore a 14. My granddaughter weighs 180 lb and wears a 14. So I guess all my hoopla about being in an XL is really like being in a 1X back in the day.

    Im an emotional disaster :(

I eat off of everyone's plate. All are willing to share a little something. I just did that the other night for a birthday. I ordered nothing and tasted all kinds of different foods. We eat so little that it is ludicrous to order a big meal for us and I am 5 months out. As far as the crying goes, you recently went thru a major operation and your hormones are all over the place. Give it a couple more weeks and this sadness will be but a distant memory.

    Weight gain six weeks out...

Calories need to be increased. Your metabolism is shutting down. My nutritionalist said up to 1200 a day. I don't exercise due to physical problems but I am still losing. Most days I am around 1000 cal.

    Care after surgery

They don't want you to drive because of the pain medicine. If you do not need pain meds you should be good to go. But check with doctor first.

    Primary and secondary

I had Medicare and fed BCBS and I paid for nothing including all the pre op testing. I was very fortunate . I pay quite a bit for premiums, 540 a month, so theoretically I will pay in the next few years.
  24. I am your age and my arms are terrible. I am down 63 lbs but have 45 more to go. I will have surgery on. My arms and boobs as long as I am in good enough health. Look for a good plastic surgeon. The scar is under your arm and would only show if you put your arms up. The rest of my body will be held in with spanks.
  25. When I woke up, if you want honesty, a lot of horrible pain. It was very bad and for 2 days never gave me anything that made it feel better. He said he had to go thru scar tissue and this was the incision that they pulled the stomach out of. Maybe that is why mine was so bad. I had no gas pain though, I was spared that.
