Excited and scared as I am one step closer

Welcome. We are all here for you.
  3. What about isopure? I wish I had found that earlier.
  4. Some friends and my husband went to Cheesecake Factory last night. Don't get excited, I scoured the nutritionals and finally found a appetizer salad for 390 cal. It was not easy to find something if you go there but it was very good. Now to my NSV. My husband and I were sitting in the booth part of a table that had two chairs and no one was sitting next to me on my side. Later I needed to go to the rest room. I carefully got up and before weight loss I had to turn sideways and be very careful that my big butt did not land on the other people's table. Last night I walked out straight on. No sideways, no getting in people's food. It was great.

    Weight gain

You must watch what you eat forever. The sleeve gives you restriction but if you eat chips, popcorn or other snack foods they seem to go right thru. You must portion your food and follow all thr rules. Count cal and carbs. This is a lifelong process for us overweight people. Also some people go back to grazing. Which means they eat every hour and that will definetly put weight back on. On a positive note, if you follow the rules you will lose weight faster than you could ever imagine. I am 66 and 5 months out and down 66 lbs. I have not exercised because of pain issues. So for me and many of us it is such a fast change that your mind does not catch up. I would do it all over again. My butt has gotten smaller and my husband is always commenting on that. Best of luck to you. You will do fine.

    Failing

I am 5 months post op and am starting to crave all the bad carbs again. And I guess you know why, I started eating them again. I am struggling also to keep on track. I know for sure I am a CARBOHOLIC and will be till the day I die. Put on your big girl panties and do what you know you have to do. We are all here for you. I hope you will be there for me. Best of luck.
  7. I hope your occupation is writing so a very large group can enjoy your talents as we all do here. Thanks!

6 weeks post-op ... what did YOU eat?

At 6 weeks my surgeon released me to everything. There was nothing that I could not try and I did. If it didn't go well I tried another time.

Diet plan! I'm in need of help!

Search at the top for that. There have been many posts about what people eat daily.
  10. Meanwhile wear summer dresses. You look great in a dress as in your profile. I am fat there also but have not lost anything in that area yet. I never thought about drooping skin there. Please let us know what the plastics guy says. A lot of us may get the same problem as time goes on. Thanks for having the nerve to bring it up.

    Anyone from Southern Ohio?

    Dr Northup 5 months ago.
  12. Please don't introduce any bad carbs this early. Let me tell you my story. I was doing great until my nutritionalist started me in trouncing crackers into my diet about 3 months out. Then I would taste some chips here and there and then some popcorn and then some fries until now at 5 months I crave sweets again and want bad carbs all day long. Have not gained anything yet but am not losing as I should. So if you are wise stay away from all bad carbs until you are at goal and you can introduce if you are able. I know that I am going to have to give up all bad carbs forever because I can not control my eating. I am a CARBOHOLIC. And need to attend meetings for this. There are a lot of us so we shouldn't have a problem finding members.

Congrats. I am 9 lbs away and you will probably hear me scream when this happens no matter where you are. SO don't get scared when you hear me LOL.
  16. I am 5 months out and have loose stools 1-2 times a day. Never have a regular turd. Don't be offended with the word LOL. And when I have to go there had better be a place within 2 minutes. I carry a Change of clothes with me in the car and a towel and wash cloth. There have been some bad accidents.

    vacation and eating

We are planning our 45th anniversary trip to hawaii. One thing we are doing is the 1 week cruise around all the islands. This trip will be a trip of a lifetime for us. Please PM me about your trip and what I should not miss. Ours is in the planning stage right now because it is not until Sept. Have a great time.
  19. Buckeyefan, One year ago I went to a weight loss seminar to find out about RNY, I was at a point in my life that something had to be done. This is where I found out about the sleeve. The dr giving this seminar was brand new and didn't have much experience at all. I was very excited about the sleeve and started doing research. I attended 3 more seminars and finally found Dr Northup. He had done the most sleeves of anyone I had found in the tri-state. His practice is a bariatric center of excellence which means a lot also. I saw him June 28, 2012 and finally had surgery Nov 28,2012, 2 days after my 66 th birthday. I am down 66 lbs and diabetes has improved greatly. I have not been able to exercise so that is amazing that I have done so well. Don't count on the dr or his office to give you much info. It is short and sweet. Read these weight loss sights and you will learn all the info you need. If it was not for all these kind people I would have backed out from surgery months before I had it. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to PM me.
  20. I had Northup and had no problems at all. There is a tab at the top Surgeons, which lists a lot of surgeons.

My confession. I fell of the wagon

I had a really bad day yesterday. Chips cookies snacks 1600 cal worth. Felt bad today but on I go today and hopefully will be better. Best of luck to you.
  23. 5 months out and I want to tell you all your dreams will come true in a few short months after surgery. It is hard to believe but it is true.
  24. Make sure you use my fitness pal for every morsel that goes in your mouth. You can track cal, sodium, carbs and whatever else you want to track. I was shocked at what was in some foods. I am 66 years old and not able to exercise and have lost 66 lb in 5 months. I have a I pad so tracking is not a problem for me. I take it with me everywhere so everything that goes in my mouth is tracked. I had a really bad day yesterday and ate 1600 cal. But today is another day. I still lost 2 lb last week. It is down to 1-2 lbs a week, which is OK. I hope to be at goal by my 1 yr anniversary. Best of luck to you

    New Here!

I had the sleeve 2 days after my 66th birthday. There are quite a few of us 55 and up. I am 5 months out and lost 66 lbs. not bad for an old broad. I have diabetes and was on mega does of insulin. It was getting worse as time went on. That is why I did it and the diabetes has improved significantly. The smaller clothes was an added bonus.
