Sitting in an airplane seat with NO seat belt extender!
mokee replied to jenniesue's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Leaving on a short trip Monday and this is the first flight since I lost 66 lbs. will be great not to ask for a seat belt extender. I am looking forward to the flight. -
We want to help both you girls. When was your surgery? If you are newly sleeved, the hormones are flying. I was so mean to everyone that I am surprised anyone speaks to me now. It gets so much better as time goes on and the added prize you will be thinner. Just sip sip sip your liquids and try to get your Protein in. You did this for a reason. Keep your eye on the ending result. You have children and you need to be healthy for them. Best of luck and get help if you need it.

Surgery yesterday @ 4:45 pm
mokee replied to JProx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
5 months post op and the time I woke up in recovery the pain was a hard 9. The pain meds they gave me did not touch it. Then every day it was a little better and by the end of the first week I was fine. Still having trouble getting fluids and protein in until day 10 when one morning I could drink so I guess the swelling went down. -
Isopure liquid. So much better than the powdered protein and a lot more convenient. I like the alpine punch the best. Comes in 20 oz bottles which have 40 grams protein. These are 2 serving bottles. I wish I had found these early on. I hated the protein powders. I tried many of them and wasted my money. Vitamin shoppe has these.

Awesome job!! Keep up the good work.

Hehe. My sleep study is tonight....
mokee replied to Cheer Mama's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I refused to do it so I never did. Know of too many people that were told they had sleep apnea and they get a machine and try to use it and it sits in their closet. -
Changed surgery date :(

Every dr is different. -
Cranberry juice helps this. Before I head to the doctor for this I get low calorie cran-grape and drink about 1/2 bottle over a 24 hour period and most always clears up for me.

I am 5 months out and I just found out I was anemic a few weeks ago. I dug out my cast iron skillet and saucepan. I have been cooking in them as much as I can. Tomato really leashes the iron out of the pan. I found out all this a few years back when my husband had cancer and I did a lot of research about cooking for people going thru chemo. The drugs they gave him did not bring his iron levels up but when I cooked like this it helped. I hope it helps me also. I will let everyone know when I have my next blood test to see if it has helped.

Is vomiting going to be the new normal?
mokee replied to takingbackcontrol's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Am 5 months out and never vomited until last week when I ate so much (don't ask me why) that I was glad I threw up. Felt so much better. Lesson learned. -
Don't mean to sound mean but we have all dieted our whole life. That being said you must log what goes in your month. You can not remember all day long what you have tasted or ate and calculate the calories let alone the Protein and carbs. For going thru all the hoops before surgery and then going thru the surgery, you sure are giving up quickly. It seems many of us gave you advise not too long ago. Have you taken any? I am a hard head and it sounds like you fit that category also. Please track for 1 month. Stay between 600-800 calories, 60-100 gr protein and 48-64 oz liquid. I guarantee you will start losing. Best of luck.

I don't know what kind of isopure you are talking about? I use the bottles that are 40 gr of protein and 20 oz but that is 2 servings. So if you had 4 servings of this it would be 80 gr protein. Check your label for servings. Taking 50 gr at one time is not good because some say it does not get absorbed.

Scientific evidence that carbonation stretches the stomach. Some say there dr says do not drink others say dr says just in moderation. Some say no restriction. What is the truth? Where does it say it hurts you. I could see before you heal but after 6 months or so will it be alright.

What is a daily food counter site?

I use my I- pad to do my fitness pal for every morsel good or bad that goes in my mouth. You also can use your home PC. -
Me too 9 lbs but don 't seem to want to fall off. Scheduled by end of June. If it comes before I won't be sad. Keep up your good work, I know how excited you must be.

No the weight loss has not helped my callouses at all. I get pedicures every 3 months but 1 week after they are thick and hurt again. Just the way it will be forever for me.

You look great. How did you loose so much in so little time? Tell us your secret.

I am 3 wks post op and I an hungry all the time.
mokee replied to latina1974's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Awful lot of calories for this early out. Should be 600-800. Are you following basics 1. Don't drink with meals or 30 min before or after 2. Taking a PPI 3. Eating dense Protein first. Try this and you should not be hungry at all. 1200 calories is what people eat in maintence. -
You are never supposed to drink with your meals. Even people in maintenance continue to do this.

Any diabetics have problem with pre-op diet?
mokee replied to pixiesmurf's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I used water in my shakes and stopped all my insulin. Had no problems until after surgery and then had to reintroduce insulin into my life a little at a time. Now at 5 months out I am using 1/6 of the insulin I used before. -
Best of luck to you.
