**Bad Abdominal Pain** 3 weeks out
mokee replied to maciasl2004's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Call the dr Monday or if it gets extreme go to emergency room. -
I am approved! Gettin nervous...can I do the pre op diet?
mokee replied to Tamik78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is so important that you follow this diet to a tee. It is shrinking your liver so the dr has more room in there to do the surgery. My advise and what I did was eat everywhere and everything I wanted before the start of the 2 week diet. Than followed the diet. The first 3 days are the worst. After surgery you won't feel hunger. You can do anything for 2 weeks. -
Help...I I'mnot losing weight..What have I done wrong?
mokee replied to medicine1girl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Use my fitness pal and track calories, carbs and liquid. Sometimes we think we are not eating very much but when we keep track it shows up different especially if you are grazing. Keep your protein up also. -
You are not supposed to drink when you eat anyway. I never get any drink in a restaurant. Even at a yr out I only drink 1/2 hour before and after a meal.
-
I'm a yr out and drink maybe 2 a week decaffinated pop. The only repercussions is a lot more gas.

You are doing fantastic. Keep up the good work. So lucky to have this tool available to you at such a young age. I am very happy for you.

I have lost 93 lbs in the past 13 months sice the sleeve. Want to loose 15-20 more. It is very slow like 2 lbs a month but I will take it. I had to tell all my friends here about my 1 lb loss during the holidays. I am 67 yrs old and can not exercise. Just putting that in for any seniors on the fence about this surgery. It is one of the best things I have done for myself in my life. My health is better. I can do so many more things. I can eat anything I want just not a lot at a time. I do get hungry but it is satisfied with a few bites. Thank you all for rejoicing in my success.

Anyone have their sleeve done in Cincinnati
mokee replied to buckeyefan1985's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I had Northup 13 months ago. I've had no problems and am down 92 lbs without exercise due to unrelated pain issues. I want to loose 16-20 more. I still have great restriction, my blood tests came back normal at the one yr draw. Best of luck with your surgery. How many sleeves has Watkins done? -
Can't exercise, can you still succeed?
mokee replied to Scorpion11's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am older, 67, so it is harder for older people to loose. I have severe neck pain which keeps me from exercising. I had surgery 13 months ago. I've lost 93 lbs. I would like to loose another 16-20. I have joined a gym now and am going to try to at least do some strength building. I never dreamed I would loose this much weight without exercise but it surely can be done. Now a lot of pain I had in my back, I also have had two back surgeries and neck surgery, is gone. My knees no longer hurt. My neck is the only thing that is terribly painful. Best of luck to you and this surgery is truly a life saver. -
Adaisyandarose, You sound so much like me. I simply love carbs. I am a yr out and the monster is back again. The holidays did a number on me. I ate so many carbs and am having a hard time giving them up. True, I can only eat so much not nearly what I used too but I have to stop before I start gaining weight back. I love that I have lost 90 plus lbs and my diabetes is controlled and the smaller clothes is a real plus. I have filled my closet with stylish comfortable clothing. I can shop anywhere now. Shoes are a regular width now instead of a WW. This is the truly fun part. The surgery was well worth it for me. Now I have to maintain until I decide to start losing again. I would like to lose another 16-25 lbs. best of luck to you.

Just had a minute to wish all my friends here a very merry Christmas and a prosperous thin New Year. Have all the shopping done, all wrapped, all groceries bought and finishing up the cleaning. Then it is cooking on Tuesday for the big night. We celebrate on Christmas Eve. I am very fortunate all my boys and their families will be here. I am blessed. My husband is battling lung cancer so we are trying to make this a special Christmas. We are doing a scavenger type hunt. You get a note that has a riddle and you follow to the next note and the last place is your gift. It is very fun.

Does anyone regret this surgery?
mokee replied to Wenniegirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 67 and 1 yr out. I feel so blessed that I was able to have this surgery at my age. I am down 92 lbs. I wore a 24 and 2X's before. Now I wear a L and 14 pants. Smaller than I have been since I was 23 yrs old. It has not been an easy year. I had a lot of diariaaha, some vomiting. My health has definitely inproved. Now I can eat anything I want but smaller portions. If I ate normal portions before I would not have gotten morbidly obese. Hang in there and follow the rules. Your attitude will change as the weight falls off. -
Neuropathy - foot pain gone!
mokee replied to LindafromFlorida's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Loving gram, I had a bone spur in the back of my heal for years and it finally rubbed a hole in my Achilles' tendon. I had to have surgery and could put no weight on it for 6 weeks. I was in a wheel chair because of my weight, could not walk on crutches. I made it thru that and it wasn't long after the other heel started hurting. Guess what another heel spur. I cried because I did not want to go thru all this again. Then I had this great sleeve surgery and since losing 92 lbs it does not hurt anymore. I don't even know I have it. So there is hope for your pain also. -
It has been weeks and finally another lb gone. It is so slow because I eat everything now. Those just starting, stay on plan till you reach your goal. I teetered off at about 6 months and now I eat too many carbs. It definetly is showing in my weight loss. After Xmas I am going back on plan again. Just so thankful that my restriction is still there. Still can only eat very small amounts of food at a time. That is really a God send for me. So thankful for this surgery. I realize now why I was led by God to this surgery. My husband has lung cancer and will be starting radiation and chemo this week. I am able to get around better and do so many things now so I will be able to care for him over the next 3 months. It would have been nearly impossible to take good care of him at my previous weight and health.

Did any of you have food funerals prior to starting your preop diet?
mokee replied to A_ReNUDE_me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 1 yr out and before my pre op diet I ate at every restaurant I enjoyed and ate what I wanted. My surgeon wanted me to lose at least 4 lbs before surgery, silly huh. I did do that. BUT during my 2 week pre op diet I did not cheat once. I am almost 100 lbs down and still have great restriction. I eat everything but not a lot. -
Congrats! You are starting your new life and you must be so proud.

I had surgery nov 28 of last year. I so looked forward to roasted chicken. I had two ounces and savored it. As far as all you are planning to make, why? You can only eat such a little bit if your doctor allows regular food by then. It was torture for me to prepare food I could not eat at that time.

Why after 10 months I am still constantly belching? It has become so normal I don't even realize I am doing it. Last night in bed my husband said, " I could not stand to belch like that all the time!". So he was saying I am sick of listening to this. What am I doing to cause this? I even belch after I drink.

Pear shaped succes. Is it possible?
mokee replied to CrazyJaney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well there is hope for you all. I am 1 yr post-op and a lot of my weight lost was in my legs. Never and I mean never had small legs. Now they are thinner than when I was a teen and weighed 140 lbs. during the initial loss I had a hard time finding slacks tight enough in the legs. My body was bigger than my legs proportion wise. Now I can wear a 14 slacks and they fit my legs nicely. I can cross my legs like a super model LOL. Best of luck. -
I have to have the TV on to go to sleep. My husband complains all the time. But most timed he can sleep thru it. I only get a few hours sleep a night. On rare occasion 5 hours. Just work it out with him.

I was shopping with myr granddaughter and she was trying on jeans. I said let me try them. I got them on and they felt good, the only problem was the rise and they gapped in the waist when I sat down. Did not have time to venture into another pair. But I will go get a pair. Never had regular jeans, only pants made out of jean material with rubber around the waist. I am 67 yrs old and I will get a pair and wear with pride. Go for it.

Went to surgeon today. nutruitionalist was very helpful and told me i was doing very well. then the portly surgeon came in. he was not as complimentary. all he kept saying was watch what you eat because you cwill stretch out your sleeve and gain all your weight back. not at all complmentary. i was glad to get out of there and go anout my life. most people i come accross that have gone with this surgeon never get to goal if they lose anything at all. if it wasn't for this web site and a few others that i read i would not have done as well as i have. does anyone know how much the sleeve can stretch out over time? would like to know. i still have good restriction at one year out. any thoughts appreciated. We

I am 67 years old and yesterday i was 1 year post op . What a ride this year has been. I am so fortunate to have had the opportunity to have this surgery. I had blood work last week and all my numbers are in line. They are even better then they were before surgery. My family was so worried about me having this procedure but now they see how this has made such a positive effect on my life. I can get around so much better. My diabetes is so much improved. I am no longer incontinent. The list goes on and on. If anyone is afraid to have the surgery go for it. Just make sure you chose a good surgeon. By the way. I went from a size 24-26 to a size 14 pants and L tops. So much fun to shop.

I am almost a year out already. Down 90 lbs. Have not weighed this since I was 23 years old and I will be 67 in a few days. Can shop in the regular woman's dept and that is such a treat. I started at a 24 and 3X. Now I wear 14 in pants and a L shirt. Most days when I get dressed I hold up a shirt and think is this going to fit. The mind still has not come as far as I have. Health wise which is the most important is much improved. Diabetes is under control and last A1C was 6.2. Never had a reading this good before. Hope to get off of insulin completely as I get closer to goal. Best of luck to all the vets here and continued success.
