Saying hello I am starting my new journey
mokee replied to ppqjones's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am so sorry you have suffered for so long. God bless you. Good luck on your journey. I am 6 months out and no complications. My first blood draw I was low on iron. I am using cast iron skillet when I cook and hopefully it will be better next time. I also just noticed that Product 19 Protein cereal has a lot of iron added. I have been eating a serving for breakfast. Maybe that will help also. -

Anyone NOT lose hair
mokee replied to Jellybeansoup's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It did not start to come out for me till about 3 months. My nut said they do not know what causes it. I only had slight loss. It is about over now at 6 months out. I have been using shampoo and conditioner for hair loss the past month and I also have not lost any weight in the past 5 weeks. I am at a stall. Maybe one of these things is the reason it stopped. -
Try isopure liquid. I like the alpine punch. Can get it at vitamin shoppe. Has 2 servings in a bottle with 20 gr protein per serving. I wish someone had told me about this when I started. I just found out about it 2 months ago. Even though I am 6 mo out I still need to supplement protein sometimes.

Have you ever tried baby food. Awfully bland. Much better to mush up regular food.

SLEEVE TOO NARROW (AT 7 MONTHS HAVING AN ENDOSCOPY)
mokee replied to Holly5.3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 6 months out and can only eat at the most 4 oz of protein at a meal. 1/2 cup is all I can eat at a time. How much do you think you should be eating? -
Any carbs!! Sweets especially along with salty. I am 6 months out and I really have to watch. At the point I am at it is so easy to get back into old habits because you can eat anything. Take my advise and DO NOT eat any sweets until you are at goal and then be really careful when you introduce them back into your diet.

I'm back to my old eating habits ;-(

I am in the same boat as you. I had surgery Nov 28, 2013. I have lost 66 lbs and have not lost anything for 5 weeks. Am getting very depressed. My story is similar to yours. I started sampling a piece of a roll at a restaurant and maybe a couple of my husbands fries and a handful of chips late at night. I an a CARBOHOLIC . My nut told me last visit to increase to 1200 cal. I was doing just fine on 800-1000. That was a mistake. Now I am having a lot of trouble getting down to even 1000. Please keep in touch with me, we can lick this together. I need someone to be accountable to and it sounds like you do too. Best of luck. -
Weight loss... Weigh in with your opinions.
mokee replied to devine.adon's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Your age, the exercise you are willing to do and wether you stay on the eating plan will be how successful you will be. Some lose more than others in a short time. It is still only a tool and the real work is up to you. -

stalled and overly emotional. aka - it's been a rough week
mokee replied to makemyownluck's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm at a stall at 6 months out. It's been 5 weeks now. Done about everything and can't seem to get it going again. I have 42 more lbs to lose so I hope I am not done. I so wanted to be under 200 by the end of June and it just is not happening. 2 months ago I was sure I would be there and now I do not see it. It is very depressing. I also can not do exercise because of pain. So I just don't know what to do. -
I'm losing my hair!
mokee replied to usmcmorninngstar@yahoo.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nut said they don't know why this happens. I get enough protein and mine is coming out a little not a lot. I started using frutis shampoo and conditioner made for losing hair. It seems to be helping. -
I lost 66 lbs, nov 28, 2012. I am older, 66 and my weight loss has stopped for over 1 month. I still have 42 lbs to go. I have tried everything that has been suggested for stalls. I am still on insulin and that could have some impact on this. It is almost 6 months now and I sure hope I can still loose more. Anyone have any secrets? You are all doing so well.

The Journey Has Begun

What insurance do you have? This was really fast. Most everyone has to wait 3-6 months minimum. Good for you. -
'Surgery' cards... Notices to resturants that you've had bariatric surgery
mokee replied to dansgem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the restaurant card not the other. I have never used it. I tried one time at a buffet in Fl and she just said I could not eat the meat. I never tried again. I guess they think you are trying to pull a fast one. I usually eat off of someone's plate, get an appetizer or order a meal and take most home. That works for me. -

Thanks for sharing this. My nut has told me to eat 1200 cal and I worked my way up to that and I am not losing at all for a month. I am in maintenance. I am trying to lower to under 1000 and it is not easy. I guess I will have to go liquid for a week to try to get under 800 like your dr said. Never should have upped my cal. I hope people take note of my delema. -
Sugar Free jello...can you have that as a snack.
mokee replied to Sweetcarol238's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
What are you afraid of? At 7 months out you should be able to eat anything. My goodness you have lost a lot of weight very fast. Time to start going into maintenance and trying some different foods. -

Depends a lot on your insurance. If you are self pay, it should not take long. -

What size did you get down to? How much pain was there? Thinking of having this done next year. -
It took me about a month before I felt back to normal.

I was released to all foods at 6 weeks out. Sure you can't eat everything. I even ate salad.
-
Good for you. That must feel great!

So afraid I'll still look ugly
mokee replied to WeeWers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I guess I am the old one. I am 66 and had this done 2 days after my birthday. I have only lost 66 lbs (still have 42 to go). Skin is drooping but my face is fine. No extra skin or wrinkles. My stomach is not that bad. Mainly my arms and tatas. I have gotten off of 4 medicines and 120 units of insulin. Yah me. I can do a lot more things, I can get around better. Never a regret. I am having problems loosing any more. Been at a standstill for over a month. Both of my parents died at 68. I do not have longevity in my family. I hope now I can live a longer life and a more active life. I took a chance and my husband was so scared he may lose me. But I never had that thought and here I am.
