Can I eat this post-op and when?
mokee replied to VSG4aHealthierMe's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I am 7 months out and was released to all foods at 6 weeks post op. I used to enjoy salad also but now I can only eat a few bites after the protein. It does not pose a problem for me, it just does not taste the same anymore. I guess I get most of my vitamins from pills. You could try eating most of your protein at 2 meals and snacks and at lunch or dinner have a salad. I don't like spicy foods so I am no help there. -
Are you getting enough protein and enough liquids? Have you been reading posts here? Minimum 60 -80 grams protein and 64 oz liquid a day. When were you sleeved? Ask questions here and others will be glad to answer.

Gastric Sleeve vs Medical Weight Loss
mokee replied to StarryNightSky's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Being 66 yrs old and obese since 5 yrs old I know diets. Any diet that came along I have tried. In my teens I got what was thin for me between 140-150 lbs. as soon as I got pregnant I ballooned up to 200 and has been a struggle my whole life. I am a CARBOHOLIC and continue to be one. I am 7 months sleeved and down 72 lbs. could I have done this without surgery, NO WAY! As a diabetic on mega amounts of insulin I gained another 25 lb in 2 yrs. I had to do something and the sleeve was it. I can eat anything at this point but I can not gorge myself. I can not eat a sleeve of cookies or a pint of ice cream anymore, thank God. I am still on insulin but only a 1/5 of what I was on. Only take it once a day instead of 4 times a day and my A1C is much improved. Sorry this is so long but I got carried away. -
You look great and so does your fella!

Good for you. Best of luck on your journey.

Lack of interest in sex
mokee replied to Huntingnurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I am having the same problem, but I am older than you and a woman. But even though I am old I had a sex drive before surgery and none after. It is causing a problem in my marriage but I also don't know what to do. If anyone has any suggestions please share. Men always have the sacred blue pill. You could try that. -
You will be alright. Just make sure you say with the diet till surgery. Never read about any one being sewed back up for that reason. Best of luck.

Good for you. Keep up the good work!

Post Op Depression - Has anyone experienced depression following surgery
mokee replied to Camella's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was depressed before surgery. Now 6 months out I am not. I was not on meds for this though. I do have a day here and there where I feel depressed but it leaves in a day. Hope this helps. -

mokee replied to newlife27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bacon at 2 days out? Please watch what you put in your mouth for 6 weeks. Follow your surgeons suggestions. It is very important for your sleeve to heal. -
Here it is June already. Finally broke my month and a half stall. Down another 4 lbs. I guess 6 months is not the end thank goodness.
-
6 months out down 71 lbs. lost very different for me with this surgery. My legs, feet and face are very small. My butt also but my stomach area is the last to go. This could be because I am diabetic and still on some insulin. Anyone else with diabetes? How is your weight loss distribution?

Emotional Changes Post op.
mokee replied to liteNsun's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will have a lot of emotions the first 2 weeks post op. they say it is from your hormones flying all over the place. So warn him about this because you don't want to take what you say personally. -
I had surgery 11/28/2012. Does it say holiday party time? I opted out of everything involving restaurants, parties revolving around food. So by the time Xmas eve came I was so glad to be able to be with my family and eat a little something. I was not feeling well enough to watch others eat everything I couldn't. I did attend my granddaughters birthday at Cracker Barrel on Dec 4. This was really hard for me just sipping ice Water but I was not able to eat anyway. By the way everyone ate all the good things I love without a thought of how I must feel. One party is possible especially if it is not revoled around food. Best of luck.
