    Coloring Your Hair

No, color it. I had mine done right before surgery and continued on a regular basis.
  5. My DGD gave me two small fish bowls with clear marbles and tied a yellow ribbon around each. Now most are in the lost bowl. I keep them on my kitchen counter for everyone to see.
  6. I lost nothing before the preop diet. I am down 76 lbs now. I am 66 yrs old and have not exercised yet. It is so different after surgery. You are rarely hungry. You can do this if I am doing it.
  7. I am 7 months out and starting to have serious problems also. Nave had none until about 5 weeks ago. I thru up for the first time. I thought it was from eating way too much. Then it happened 2 more times and I thought you would think I would learn not to eat so much. But the other night I had 1 fried chix leg and a tablespoon of 2 sides. I felt bad so did not drink an hour after as usual. When I got home I drank Isopure because I was low on Protein. Nausea almost immediately and within 30 seconds everything came up. I have been very gassy and belching constantly. I was fine this morning until an hour ago and I ate an egg and a piece of toast. Now the belching Is starting. Am afraid to drink because think it will all come up. I am thinking it may be ulcers. I had deodenal ulcers many years ago and I was constantly belching. Anyone else have any similar issues?

    WTF is going on?

Vit D, we'll let me tell you. Most everyone in the northern hemisphere is so called low on vit D. I have been put on megadoses to get it up and then it goes back down. I also love the sun and am in it a lot without sunscreen and still low. They are trying to prove something. This vit D thing just happened a few yrs back. All my drs and my husbands started checking it and the same answer as I said above. Now the same drs said all patients are low and don't worry about it. What have others heard about this?

    Happy 4th to my favs!

Oh how sweet! Happy after 4th to you.
  11. 44 years since being in the 100's. Finally today 199.5. I can hardly believe it. At the beginning of my journey I never dreamed of really getting below 200. So for all you new comers it is possible if an old lady like me can do it.
  12. It has been 44 yrs since I was in the 100's. 199.5 just a few minutes ago. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would ever weigh in the 100's ever again. So if you are new don't give up. If an old lady like me can do it so can you. Unbelievable!!!

I just cant do it /:

Add PB2 to the powdered shakes. You only taste the peanut butter. Try isopure ready to drink. Tastes more like a kook aid product than a protein drink. Can get at vitamin shoppe.
  14. Had mine died right before surgery and then every 2 months after. Never a problem.

    New here

Not a good idea at all. Can't you vacation before the surgery so all can enjoy it? You are supposed to walk every hour after surgery to prevent blood clots. If he won't budge on his vacation plans then you need to postpone surgery for after you get back. The first week after is the worse, pain wise, getting used to sipping liquids, getting your protein needs met. Will not be a vacation for you but just a nightmare.

    How many calories?

I was told 1200 but my weight loss slowed way down.
  17. I am 7 months out and have started having a diet soft drink a couple times a week. It gives me extra gas sometimes but that is the only thing I have noticed.

    What's different?

I'm 66 and am steadily losing but not setting any weight loss records. 7 months out and down 74 lbs. being older it took a lot of thought before I did this. Some of the younger ones just jump in and expect a miracle to occur without much effort. I'll get to my goal but it may take me awhile.

    Look what I can do!

    I like the shamu/flipper analogy!
  20. Yes, I live in Goshen. Where are you? Who did you have for surgery?

Will I fit in the Airplane seat?

You should. Fit but it will be tight. I weighed 275 and am 5'5". It was always very tight for me. Now at 201 I have plenty of room. You will need an extension for the seatbelt. Ask for one when you board the plane. Also try to get an isle seat. That way you have more shoulder room. Last time I flew I took a picture on the plant holding up the seatbelt showing that I had 3 inches overhang.

    Tips for a Spouse

First of all for the first few weeks her hormones will be flying so don't take any nastiness to heart. She may cry a lot. She may yell a lot. So beware. She is a very lucky lady to have someone to cook the right foods for her. Don't wait on her too much. She needs to be up and about as much as possible. My husband stayed home for a couple days but I took care of myself. She needs to sip fluids constantly that first week, very important. Best of luck to you both.

    New and Waiting.2013

Carol Ann, I had my surgery 7 months ago just 2 days after my 66 th birthday. I have lost 74 lbs so far and it feels great. I have not exercised due to pain so it can be done with just diet. 1 more lb and I will be in the 100' s. have not been there since 44 yrs ago. I actually shop in the reg woman's dept now and have so many choices. I never in my wildest dreams thought this would ever happen for me. Now for the important things: Down 120 units of insulin a day. Off all anti inflamatories. Am no longer incontinent so no more poise pads. Blood pressure medicine cut in half. Can walk without terrible pain in feet and legs. Quality of life is so much improved.
