1 Week Post-Op Update With Picture

Hi tomorrow will be three weeks since surgery and I can't believe the difference from week one. The first week seemed to last forever and I hated every minute of it; felt awful all the time and wondered how big a mistake i had made - reading your posts i guess that is just normal. but i can tell you it will get better and it's almost like overnight -- one day you still feel lousy and the next you feel so much better. i'm still tired and take long naps, have really tried to be good and am now on pureed foods - not bad. i still find it difficult to get in all the protein and esp the liquids, so now i worry that i will get dehydrated but i do feel better and even i can now see a difference in my body (37 lbs total loss) and esp in pants. have stayed at the same weight now for 4 days though, so i guess i need to walk more (ugh).
  2. i had surgery on Wed, came home last night and am passing blood today have called my surgeon and they don't seem overly concerned. anyone else have this issue? dr says its blood from the surgery ....

    Pre Op Liquid Diet

Hi, am on Day 4 of 2 week pre-op liquid diet. Today I was hungry, yesterday was terrible - watching football and no Snacks (unless you count yogurt). Is chewing gum allowed? no note on my instructions about gum but yesterday I really, really wanted something to chew!!!! My doc is tremendously picky and strict -- closest thing to chewable food is cottage cheese and/or cream of wheat; other than that it's yogurt, pudding, Jello (all sugar free of course), and cream Soups (strained). Got my order of Protein powders and have been adding the powder to the above foods and to Water flavored with Crystal Light (guess that makes it a shake?). Thinking ahead to months of no eating out makes me sad, so need to get a better attitude. thanks for a place to be honest about my feelings. mel
  4. Hi, My first day at this site but I think it's going to be a God Send. have looked through a bunch of posts and now have a unique question and would love your thoughts and opinions. My husband and I are BOTH going to have the sleeve surgery and we're trying to decide if it makes sense for us to do the surgery together (at the same time and recover at the same time) or one of us to have the surgery and recover and then the other one. There are good reasons for both options, but I'm wondering what the "real" issues are post surgery. I'm thinking it would be easiest to do it together -- then we're both on the same diets at the same time. Would love to hear from ya'll. Thanks

Dual surgeries or one at a time?

thanks so much for your thoughts. after reading many of the posts on the various forums, I feel a lot better about the whole process. My husband and I are older and just ourselves at home, he's retired and I work from home several days a week so we don't have kids to worry about taking care of. Figure we'll shop and stock up ahead of time and have family and friends to drop in when we need help for a few days. This is sounding better.
