Placed my order with Capellas this morning. Definitely trying the coconut and toasted almond recipe!! Next I gotta try the PB2! -
Very interesting information from WebMD putting to rest some widespread but erroneous beliefs. Couple of real surprises for me. http://www.webmd.com/diet/myths-vs-facts-10/slideshow-diet-myths?ecd=wnl_wlw_062312

I'll second that. Good advice!

Maybe just a stall, plateau? I've read about cases here on the forum where stalls have lasted a number of weeks. Long term, I would think it would be almost impossible not to lose at least some weight on 300-500 calories a day. What does your doctor say? For me a liquid diet is just not sustainable. I had a tough time with it for just a few weeks!

Folks, thanks to the Internet expertise of Dallas, everyone now has access to the High Protein food List with the click of a mouse! Here's the link to the list... https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AquBbFV701VcdGZFc2p2Q29QTXIxc0tVU1lxMklBOHc I will be making regular additions to the list so I encourage anyone interested to check back often!! Thank you Dallas!!!

Let's Help Each Other On Those Bad Days

My blood pressure dropped like a rock following surgery. I was fortunate not to have any problems with dizzyness but the bp held around 85/50 for quite a while before returning to normal. You might want to check with your doctor and see if yours is a little low. -

Thanks so much LosingIt!! -
I don't know if this will help or not but I had my surgery on Oct. 20, 2011. Starting weight in May 2011 was 285 and as of today I'm at 171. I started using a nutrition tracking app on Dec. 7, 2011 and from that day up to yesterday, I've averaged 1295 calories a day. Occasionally days as low as 700-900, occasionally days as high as 1800-1900 (usually holidays or special occasions). 600-800 calories a day might be a little ambitious. It's all about life style changes which says to me that whatever I do needs to first be healthy, and second be sustainable over the long term. You might want to discuss with your doctor increasing your calories to say 1000 a day and see how it goes for a month or two. Then maybe increase to 1200 and see how that goes. If your doctor agrees, you might find that getting used to this new life is not so tough after all!!

Let's Help Each Other On Those Bad Days
DLCoggin replied to LosingItForMe2011's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Successful weight loss is absolutely not synonomous with being some kind of super hero. Whether you're pre-op, post-op or at any other stage, there are going to be times when you can and should allow yourself some simple pleasure. It may be a special occasion, birthday, anniversary, romantic dinner, holiday, or something as simple as an outing with the family. It's all part of life and more importantly, part of living your life. Relish those moments! It is not a tragedy or the end of the world. I believe that beating yourself up over the occasional indulgence has the very real potential to be much more damaging to your long term success than simply allowing yourself to be human. Celebrate your past and future success! Congratulations on ordering a "kids" cheeseburger! Way to go! And hitting the gym the next day with a little extra effort - great job!! You're gonna love the new you!! -
Welcome home Julia! So glad to hear that you're doing better!!

Where do you buy the Capella? -
Tammy, you can get a lot of this stuff on Amazon as well and in some cases at a much better price than the health food stores.
-
Great price! Target carries them as well but they go really fast. Looking forward to hearing what you think. Have a great weekend!
-
I'm not crazy about the strawberry either. Their peanut butter is not bad but that chocolate deluxe - wow.
-
Thanks to Tammy for the heads up! Her research and my own today both confirm that New Whey may not be the best way to go. It contains collagen protein. The subject of protein gets quite complex but collagen protein is one of the worst according to a ranking system (PDCASS) endorsed by the World Health Organization and the Institute of Medicine at the National Academy of Sciences. The high protein/low volume of New Whey is attractive but not much good if your body cannot absorb the all important protein. The following is the nutrition list for New Whey which strikes me as very carefully worded and that raises some suspicion as well. Ingredients Pure Carbon Filtered Water, Complete Protein Matrix (DS Proprietary Blend Of Collagen Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Isolate, Casein Protein Isolate), Natural And Artificial Flavors, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Acesulfame Potassium, Sucralose, Red 40. Contains: Milk Lactose Free Complete Source Of Protein Containing All Essential Amino Acids For A Balanced Diet. All Ingredients Meet Or Exceed Pharmaceutical And U.S. FDA Specifications Where Specifications Are Listed.

You're more than welcome. I would think 500 cals. a day is on the low side but it is interesting that in this whole process, my doctor never mentioned a daily calorie value until I asked her directly last week. Not that I'm complaining because I couldn't be happier with my results so far. Did your guys doctors give you a goal weight and/or a recommended daily calorie value?
