Need some support on issue in Vancouver ! Infected port!! No doctor!!
Spaness2012 replied to Devotedlillly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would walk into an ER and demand they see you. At the very least...they have to address the infection with heavy duty antibiotics. Good luck! -
Still recovering from port replacement surgery. The scale does not like the recovery. I am still retaining fluids and taking pain meds. I will be glad when I can get back to doing what I have been doing .
-
Excellent list! With your attitude...you will cross some of these things off your list in no time.

I am glad you dug deeper into this and it all worked out. Congrats.

Feeling weak on pre-op diet
Spaness2012 replied to Creekwood's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with all of the above! Making it through pre-op diets renders one a complete Rockstar!! I was one of those on a clear liquid diet only with Protein shakes. I likened it to boot camp or jail.......it is breaking down my spirit so I can be pumped back up better than ever! You got this Superman...you got this! Side note: If you can put off the "to do list" or ask for some help......this will conserve energy. I didn't clean the house at all before or after surgery. I just didn't. It all worked itself out after I could eat again! -
I wish this was the case for me. I am not hungry immediatley after but seem to be hungry the rest of the day after exercise. Good news for you! Keep up the great work!
-
Hang in there. This is a really tough time in the journey. It will get better...I promise.
-
Once you receive a few fills, the physical hunger (bandster hell) will get better. Please know that sometimes it takes several fills to really feel a difference. Hang in there!
-
Congrats!

Def discuss with the doc. But I remember when I started solids (eating better...lots of veggies) I too had a little of this happening for a few weeks. Maybe my body just adjusting to new foods, etc. Or maybe just a little stomach virus. Either way...call the doc.

Pain meds, swelling from my port revision surgery is not helping my scale this week! Ugh!

Does anyone else believe they are addicted to sugar/flour
Spaness2012 replied to CanCan1791's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sugar addiction is very real. Perhaps talking to a therapist or going to an OA meeting may help. Good luck to you! -
Are you still taking pain killers? On liquids? Could you be pregnant?

Thank you for sharing your story. You will read that all of our stories have a similar tone. We have tried everything and nothing works. Gather all the knowledge you can about the surgery and from reading these boards. It is the best thing I have done for myself but it wasn't without alot of hard work and a small complication. Good luck to you! Congrats on taking your life back.

This question bothered me too. I thought to myself.....noone ever asked me what type of insulin pump I would need when I finally got diagnosed with diabetes....but my loose skin is a concern? Interesting!

The thought of eating fast food makes me sick.
Spaness2012 replied to WrenBird's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree that high sugar and fatty foods makes me tailspin. I have recognized this and stay away from them. I really don't miss them at all. Thanks for posting..... -
I am in awe of the weight loss you all have achieved. I think a pity party is normal (even for thin people) but try not to let that negative thinking ruin your day! Look how far you have come!! That is successful in my book!

Maybe it's just a matter of tweaking things a little. Maybe eat more Protein and drink lots of Water. After a few weeks of this...the scale should move in the right direction. Congrats on your amazing weight loss already!

post-op day four
Spaness2012 replied to campbell71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sure you heard the phrase "Bandster Hell"? Yup....your feeling it. My hunger came back with a vengence about Day 4. It takes alot of patience and "want power". This is NOT an easy time. Drink as much Fluid as you can.....come here and blog....try and distract yourself. If you have additional questions on how much and what you should be eating/drinking during this phase...call your doctor. Good luck...take some deep breaths! Congrats on feeling better after surgery! -
On pre-opt and Wanting to kill hubby
Spaness2012 replied to pkchop's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This thread reminds me of my hubby's Lapband Party Foul. We were on our way to my surgery and he brings a banana with him for breakfast. He didn't eat it in the car like I thought he would. When we got out into the parking lot I asked him where he was going to eat that. He said, while we are waiting. I said, "You do realize that you are walking into a waiting room full of half starved fat people who have been on a liquid diet for 2 weeks?" "Do you think you'll be safe?". He ate it right there. We laugh about it all the time now. -
Something to remember about failing.
Spaness2012 replied to Deleted Account 2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have always been "an all or nothing" person. I really had to adopt a different mentality. Now my conversation's with myself is exactly like Trisha Yearwood's. "So I had a peice of pizza with the kids on a Friday night." Tomorrow is another day. I always remind myself that I had 1 peice. Not too long ago...I would mull through the whole pizza. This is about progress...not perfection. Thanks for sharing. -
I think you may be over thinking it. Talk to your surgeon about your fears. Congrats on getting back to goal weight again. What an amazing feat in itself! Worse case scenario...you go back for a fill. You have done the hard work...you know what you should do and what you shouldn't do. Your band is there to help...not be what dictates your behaivor. You got this! Congrats again.

Kink Repair Follow Up~
Spaness2012 replied to Spaness2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes my doc is very thorough and observant. He does listen. He was actually the one who caught the problem, ran the tests, and err'd on the side of caution and replaced the port and tubing. Having a doc one can trust is a big deal with this surgery! Good luck in your future weight loss endeavors. I will be sending positive thoughts your way! -
Give Yourself A Gift For Your Hard Work!!
Spaness2012 replied to shrcumm's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree! I am planning a trip to the outlet mall for a new Coach purse!! I know, I know....what a diva I am....but I wear the badge proud! I had my other Coach purse for 2 years...so not really all that diva'ish! -
Learning how to eat with the band
Spaness2012 replied to lilmispcl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree with all of the above. Just when I thought I was eating slow enough and chewing well enough....I got my second fill and have been reminded (all over again) to eat slower and chew more and take smaller bites! It's all part of the journey!
